No, I can't see anything on that link. I guess it's because I'm not your friend on FB.

Hi everyone, sorry for being missing again. I'm feeling quite a bit better, less depressed and less overwhealmed, thank you for all your well wishes.

I've shameless dropped in to tell you that I've won tickets to the Country Living Spring Show!! Thanks to a Crossstitcher comp! its too short notice for my best mate (this week!), and mum just panicked at the idea (though she has been quite stable for a while now thank goodess), so I'm pondering going alone. Has anyone done similar alone before?

On wed and thurs Jan Constantine is doing a workshop! Eek!

Congratulations on the win. I've been to loads of shows on my own and even when I go with friends we usually splilt up for going roumd the stalls and just meet up occasionally so I'd said go for it. Workshops are ones of the best things about craft shows in my opinion. And if you don't like it well the tickets were free anyway :D And I would take the spare ticket along and you may be able to sell it. Hope you enjoy the day

Morning all. A day at the office and a trip to the dentist is the order of the day for me :(

Oh well. at least its wednesday.

I was wondering if anyone has Cross Stitcher Magazine from January 2006. FYI it has eeyore on the cover (I think Eeyore came as a free kit - a watercolour design) There is a Margaret Sherry design in this magazine called When I am an old cat BUT although I have the chart of the cat and the first verse of the poem, I am missing what must be page 47 and any pages (if there are any?) after that. I have looked on e you know what but only one person has this and wants over £5 for it ! which is a lot for half a chart!

In other news have finished one penguin and started another. Had to throw some aida away yesterday that was wonky - don't know where that came from! and thought it silly to continue stitching on it because it would probably have been impossible to fix straight in the card mount.

Oh well. Best get on with it...

    Thanks Everyone!

I've decided to go! I'm thinking I'll scout it out for taking my mum, OH mum and best mate to Xmas one (4person cheap train ticket). Going alone seems odd but im fine on my own and more likely to do a workshop i think. And thanks to waiting on mums decision, I've run out of time / people who could come at such short notice!

Flowers - good idea to try to sell the ticket.

Unless of course anyone here would like it? I'm going tomorow. It's on till Sunday but I'm not sure I'd trust the royal mail this late.

I've not heard of this show that you are going to, but look forward to reading all about it once you've been.
I've been on the train to London several times alone to see the ski show or the cross stitch shows at Olympia and always had a lovely time.
I would def' try and sell the other ticket once you arrive. Just go up to the people in the ticket queue and ask if someone would like one cheaper than the going rate.
I actually prefer going on my own because I like to scuttle around very quickly when I arrive and see what's there and then take my time doing the bits I'm interested in. I also panic when the other person wanders off while I'm looking at something and then I have to waste time and energy looking for them.
If there are any workshops, it's best to sign up for them as soon as you arrive as they fill up fast. Book for the middle of the day when the place is at it's busiest and by then you'll be wanting a sit down anyway.
If you can stay all day it's always quietest at the beginning or the end. Another thing I do to avoid the crowds is to go to the far end of the aisles first as everyone else is up by the door.
But the top tip that someone else already mentioned was to take plenty of your own food and drink. It gets very hot in these places and refreshments cost an arm and a leg.
Have a lovely time and tell us all about it on Friday.

I'll go and have a look in a minute, 2006 was around the time I stopped buying that magazine, so I'm not sure if I have it, and it doesn't sound familiar! But I will go look in a bit :D

Thankyou debtdalek for all the good advice. I've never been to an indoor big show, only the CLA Gamefair but OH was exhibiting so that was different.

News! My best mate has sweet talked her boss into getting tomorrow off work! She's fab though so I've no worries about being dragged around ect :0) I have more of a journey now as will drive to her town , but the train tickets will be less so more to spend on pretty things!
