Flat Eric - I dont mind the shops opening on sunday, most do anyhow, but i hope they dont force people to work and hope the ones that do get the going rate

tellmeitfriday - I feel the same as you with craft fairs and am debating whether to go to NEC friday. I might save my money and goto manchester next month instaed
I just ought an app for the iphone, one for dmc and one for anchor. It lets you store your thread clours. I need it as I went to the shop to get some NO144 and came back with 2 x no 145, I dont know why , I got two no 145. I lost my list and guessed.
I have been doing some cross stitch, still perservering with the freebie one, have had to undo it a few times.
But Im determined, and this is it so farChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
Hi - I am in dire need of a new pair of scissors. Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations as to the best scissors for undoing mistakes and snipping my grid lines when finished with. I bought a pair from Amazon but they're rubbish - the ends are too round. I have had a look at Sew and Sew etc but there's such a wide choice. I have been using nail scissors but they're not ideal. Thanks0

Here's a link to an aida calculator from Yarntree (i use them alot for htis sort of thing and to convert floss from anchor etc to DMC). http://yarntree.com/java/xstitchcal.htm
If you put the details into their calculator it suggests 14.5 inches by 16.5 inches, this is allowing a 2 inch border around your design.
Also, if you are looking for DMC floss you will do better on the internet. Try Across own stitching http://www.across-town-stitching.talktalk.net/offer.htm they do 50 skeins for £16.
Hope the above helps.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Sunday Trading
I think it's good that DIY shops open on a Sunday and I don't have an issue with markets or car boots etc either, but as for supermarkets and department stores etc I think it's completely unwarranted especially now that most of them are open late or 24/7 anyway.
I've only once been shopping on a Sunday and that was for a present for a new baby.
Having worked in a travel agency for many years, we went from normal 9-5.30 opening, to late nights, opening on a Sunday and Bank Holidays and you just didn't get to spend any time with your partner or the kids.
At the end of the day people only have a certain amount of money to spend and that is dwindling all the time. Shops being open for longer and on Sundays simply means they are struggling because they have to staff them and heat and light them for longer, to rake in the same amount of disposable income out of us.0 -
