  • Looked at the subscription today and I'm very tempted to subscribe but £12 each month is a lot if its not much good and there's 90 issues so that's £300 . I'm very tempted but always feel guilty if I spend money on me so I'm going back and forth on it. It is a skill I would love to get better at though! Really don't know if to subscribe or not!

Have you looked in to courses at your local colleges?

They do all sorts at ours, from taster sessions @ £5 to full blown year long courses x
  • :T:T:T for you tmif brilliant will power, can't wait to see piccies of ribbon embroidery have looked at course but they are all so expensive.

More expensive than £900 - bearing in mind an expert will show you how to do it?

Why not just subscribe for 2 months, get all the extra freebies and see how you get on during that time? You shoudl be able to collect enough bits and bobs and some ideas to give you enough to know if it's worth continuing the subscription for a while longer.

Has anyone ever got any of those partworks right through to the end? Last one I got was Top Gear - DS1 got bored of it after 3 months so I cancelled.

  • My dad used to get them all, we had all sorts, crime, encyclopedias, ect and my favourite one was all about the body, you got a little man to put together with all his internal organs and bones, dad wouldn't let us put it together till we had all the pieces and then it wouldn't go together probably ! Lol

Tmif, lol its £300 wouldn't even consider it if it was £900, how's your legs now? Have they stopped aching ?

Saw hundreds of kits I loved, but decided not to - I have twenty in my box to do (one day) as well as numerous UFO's... round of applause for my will power please!!!!

    Wow - well done :T

Glad you had a good day out (aside from the travelling!)

LOL - we got one of those skeleton ones a few years back for DS1, think he was about 7 at the time, it has just came out again I think. He liked it at first but the skull really freaked him out one night so we had to get rid of it :rotfl:

  • Ah yes, I meant £300 = my eyes must have blurred my numbers together in my sleepiness! Louise's idea is good - fleece them for their "freebies" and then buy yourself a nice training/ideas book/dvd..!

Grrr, why is my heating on? It's not cold. Grr Grr Grr! Right that will teach it, I have switched it off ;)

I think I will make a list of my unstarted projects today and decide which ones I am going to keep.

I sorted through my threads last week - I have so many duplicates, it's a bit embarrasing really :-$

Ahhh I like sunny Sundays. I suppose I should go and visit mother, but other than that a day of stitchiness looms :D

    Have fun all x

I'm fine now thanks :) I did enjoy it, but I will stick to the Exeter one, or fit in a holiday around my next one!

Tellmeitsfriday - glad you had a nice day yesterday and as long as you enjoyed yourself then only spending £20 was great. I'm hoping not to spend too much more than that on Friday at the NEC.

Here's a picture of the coaster I did for my Dad for his birthday.

Letter D Tank by Ailsb1, on Flickr

When my dad opened it he first asked if I had sticthed it all for him then he asked why the D. Well I said D for dad plus his name starts with D. He then turned his back on me and said he had to go, not before I saw his eyes were welling up. I realised it's the first thing that he's had in cross sticth since my Mum died - I felt a bit bad. About an hour later he was back and seemed genuinely pleased with his coaster, so I think I made him happy in the end.

No stitching managed yet but I have found some xmas penguin charts I'm going to stitch up for xmas! Bit early I know but they are simple and will be easy to do while commuting to work.

I see its reported in the news today that sunday trading hours are under review while the olympics are on. What do fellow stitchers thing about this? I just about remember when nothing was open on a Sunday! and it was as it should be, a day of rest (well snoozing on the sofa with the cat when not stitching :rotfl:)

That auction for the magaret sherry kit/chart went for £16 in the end so no more bids....
