Another UFO completed thanks to the encouragement of this group :T
I finished the stitching yesterday afternoon and then spent the evening doing my least favourite part - adding the beads and charms. When I realised I had stitched the dolphin charms in the wrong place I decided it was time to call it a night so have just grabbed an hour this morning when I should have been doing housework and finished it
Just need to wash and press it and then I'll take a photo to share with you.
I've updated my signature to celebrate as I am so pleased to have finished 2 UFOs this year and it's only March :j
If anyone would like the used chart together with what's left of the beads just let me know. The first 4 or 5 rows on the pattern are highlighted in pink because I was given the chart by a friend who started it and decided she didn't like it - she did the highlighting but the symbols are still perfectly readable. No charge of course

well I was chopping carrots at 7am this morning.... and now after lots of prep and washing up
(and the odd tea break) I can finally sit down and relax. Dinner is in the oven/on the hob (batch cooking today) so other than eating my lunch shortly, I have no proper plans other than to relax and dig my cross stitch out. Columbo is on the tv later so I shall probably watch that and I recorded Calendar Girls last night so thats the afternoon on the box sorted. :j
I still have housework leftover from yesterday but I am not sure I can be bothered with that...
What is everyone else planning this afternoon?
Its interesting to read the comments about the shows. I have never been to one and fear I would need to save a small fortune in anticipation of going to one....0 -
For the Joan Elliott fans here (and I know there are a few) this month's issue of Cross Stitch Crazy has a FairyTale fairy as the main design. (May issue) And there is a 5 for £5 offer at the moment

Forget the housework, sounds like you're doing enough
I have a sore throat so no speaking for me
Doing some stitching just now and got a pile of ironing later before I make dinner.
You're not kidding about needing to save a fortune! I budgeted £100 and you can see how much I got for my money. There are things there that I wouldn't have thought to look for online though, and the promarkers/case cost £25, but hopefully I will get my oneys worth out of them :jCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I have literally just placed my order with Willow Fabrics, though if they come back to me saying they don't have it I know where to look next. I am thinking if I can't get it to go with the turquoise colour as it to me looks closer to the colour in the Just Nan pictures than the dark teal does.
Here is my tale of woe with them though:-
(please please please let nobody here work for them, I do love so many things about the site:o)
I looked on the website in the clearance part and saw only a few white or cream coloured evenweaves, when I looked at the link FoS sent there were loads more fabrics.
On Friday I called to ask about ordering some 28 count cashel evenweave in 28 ct. It's strange how the person I was talking to said on the phone she wasn't sure if they had it,she'd have to go look hpphhhhhh although I had to tell her I would find the colour code as I rang up saying can I have some dark teal green 28 cashel please and was told I needed the colour code. So I went and looked it up on the web, but coudn't find it on the zweigart site so found it from the next on google. Phoned back to Willow fabrics and was told it was sold out, but she also said she thought it was but she would have to move from the desk to look, could I not just do it in 32 cause they had that in the colour code I had given her. she knew cause it was right in front of her!!!
I really really hope I'm not offending anybody! The Willow Fabrics website is wonderful! I realise they stock a lot of products, and on their website they are shown in a clear way that are easy to buy. But despite having their freephone number printed very clearly on the first page of their website I found the customer service to be somewhat lacking.
Anyhoo thanks to the link from FoS I have placed my order and fingers crossed I don't get the out of stock email and can get started!!:j0 -
PS Does anyone know of any nice golden wedding anniversary designs? I have looked on sew and so but nothing takes my fancy....
I did stitch a ruby anniversary card last year and used a design from an old issue of cross stitcher but of course I can't remember which issue of the mag it was !!!!!
Have you tries typing "golden anniversary cross stitch" into google and then hitting images.
It brings up websites by designers, cross stitchers or stockists. I have found a lot of inspiration from there.
A lot of the websites offer free designs as well:money:0 -

I get quite excited when I stumble across a cross stitch shop but its rare that I buy anything because they usually charge much more for a kit than buying it say from sew and so.
I did visit a needlecraft shop a couple of years back and was sorely tempted by the cross stitch stand/frame but when I asked for help to find out how it worked etc, they (the staff) were not really interested so I quickly lost interest in buying it. That was £30 odd pounds they lost out on. I realise that if we don't support these small independent places then we are going to lose them but if they can't be bothered with their customers then well its a losing battle.
I'm saving my spare change in my teramundi pot - may be I will save it for a rainy day - well for the day I decide to go to a show :j or perhaps a mad spending spree on sew and so ?

*Louise* All this chat of you going to a show made me book ticktes for the Creative Crafts Show in Belfast. The ads say there will be cross stitch but I am very wary, though I am going with my very crafty cousin so she will no doubt introduce me to something else to try.
I'm feeling a bit unwell today so I am leaving Passion incase I totally %%%£ her up so am doing a mothers day card which is nice and small so unpicking will not be such a bother.0 -
Froddington - sorry for the delay in coming back to you but ended up with complications from op and ended back at hospital. That cross pattern is perfect, just the kind of thing i was looking for.
Don't worry - I hope you are feeling better now x
PM me and I'll sort the chart for you. It was lovely to stitch and fairly easy, but does look effective.
chickywiggle - Troutbeck looks fab in that frame. I often go to Wilko's as they have such a good range
Oh, and I now seem to have ordered a lap frame
