chicky- lol at ds2 I don't know how old he is but they make you chuckle don't they ?
well last night was a bit of a let down. I'm sewing a little freebie from a magazine. some flowers. really slowly. I checked what I did friday night after reading on here about using 1 stand and 6 strands. well I'd been sewing 2 strands so had to unsew it. then when I got going again one of the flowers was in the wrong place.
at least I'm learning and will teach me there is a thing such as half stitches. and there is a thing as using various strands.

Louise - Sorry to hear about all the goings on in the wee small hours - I'm not good at that stuff either and my dh has always drawn the short straw too.
Can I just add a note of caution to anyone who may be thinking about buying from the US.
The customs limit into the UK on purchases is exceptionally low - around £15 off the top of my head and if you go over it, you can wind up paying excise duty, possibly customs duty, import vat and a hefty collection fee to the post office or courier too.
Some suppliers will offer to mark the customs notice as a "gift" - they shouldn't do this as you are paying for the item, but even then the value cannot exceed £40.0 -
Hope the kiddies feel better soon louise, I can cope with sick but not snot, hubby can't cope with either lol13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

Louise I hope your little ones are feeling better soon. We have been dealing with that bug off and all all this year, all of us have had it at some point since January and DS1 has had it 3 times, he just went back to school today. I don't cope that well with vomit either. Look after yourself as well as them (((hugs))) Well done on completing candlelight, you really are a supper fast stitcher.
I just ordered the gorjuss runaway kit, I decided to order it from bothy threads instead of e*ay, not very MSE but I feel better about it.

thank you ll for the sympathetic comments about my ruined titanic, my DD bought the pen from america via eb*y for mothers day last year its almost a year since i started stitching it was easter sunday 2011
its a V-Clear water erasable pen DONT EVER USE ONE PLEASE.
it does say on the back
"please try on a piece of wasted cloth before use" but i was so keen to get marked up i just read the water erasable part.
havent had the heart to tell DD whats happened so i think ill just look for another kit to do for now and decide what to do with it later, thank for the suggestions might try the vanish stick but i think the navy adia would bleach with lemon juice. im more mad with myself for using the blessed thing in the first place.
i agree with the warnings about US customs duty charges on the knit a square thread a lady who does blankets for charities has got stung over £80 in customs for some squares a US lady had knitted for charity blankets. how bad is that!!
louise hope your little ones are feeling better soon
love the photos and updates and hope all are wellSPC~12 ot 124

What a flipping night - I'm exhausted, the boys had turns about being up and down until 5am and I finally got some sleep but had to get up at 8.30 to phone the schools and say they won't be in. Got the primary and High schools ok, but after an hour of trying to get the nursery school I though 'stuff it' and went back to bed for an hour:rotfl:
This morning I washed and took a photo of candlelight so here we go:

Louise, that is beautiful. Is it me or does the colours in her face look more iluminating now the candle is lit, or is it just a trick of the mind? In the half stitched pic they look very dul but the finished piece looks amazing.
I haven't picked up London since I took the picture for here. Just been busy and decided yesterday/today to finally decorate the bathroom. We have been colecting free and or cheap paint/tiles/grout/wood etc but its took a year to finally do it. Looks great but doesn't tiling take a long time
Decided to pick back up the baby dragon this afternoon. Just something different to gray/white/black threads. Will see how far I get before I get bored and move back onto London :rotfl:0 -
