Louise, yes the last one I purchased was £1.25 and I thought that was a little expensive. £4 is crazy considering some magazines are £3.95 :o

This is the chart, called new baby sampler 123, its number 13. It has three ballons with bears and clouds. I think it may be from crosstitcher because I reconise the 'what you will need' font but I could be wrong.

Today I will be mostly stitching before heading out to work later, I am now only working for my new job :T

I think you are right that the chart is from Cross Stitcher Magazine. I think it was used as the cover for the mag which is why it sticks in the mind. I have had a look at cyberstitches (.com) (a sort of online pattern directory) and searched but I couldn't find the mag issue by entering "baby". It didn't like baby sampler :(

I bought a magazine chart recently for £1.45 and I was happy with that as I really wanted it.
Personally I think anything around £1 - £2 is ok, but then it also depends how much you want something and how difficult it is to get hold of one.
On the other side I think 25p is very cheap. Fair enough if it was a face to face sale, say at a club or car boot or something, but if it was on EBay, then the seller is losing money.
Even on a free listing weekend, they would still pay the final sales fee and then the Paypal fee alone would be a percentage plus 20p!!
Then there's the cost of the polypocket and the envelope - so personally I certainly wouldn't bother with all the time it takes to chop up the magazines carefully and photograph and list, to sell at less than £1.

I think as you say it depends what you/someone else is willing to pay. The one I won for £1.25 I put my highest bid in for £3 because I really wanted it. Someone else never so I won it at the opening bid. With postage I think I payed £2.50 all in which I thought was very fair.

I couldn't list charts on ebay because its just not worth the effort. I generally give them away/to charity once I have scaned/removed the ones I want to keep.

Sorry - it was 25p plus postage. P.a.p still had postage to pay on top of the £4, even worse!

    I wouldn't bother either tbh

Just heading to drop the kids off and on to the show - can't wait, will let you all know later how it went :D

I like the one with the teddy laying down and the words Sweet Dreams - does anyone recognise what issue that one is in please?

    Arghhh just lost reply
But to MoosMummy I use the lapframe in bed all the time. Due to my illnesses I am often in bed, in fact I have the lapframe beside me now, once I can pull myself off the internet I shall be making more progress on my ballerina.
    BUY ONE! x

I am looking for a bit of advice please.
I'm about to order stuff for Just Nan Peacock Majesty (cheers FoS)
    But I am confused,
First is Krenik Silk Mori just the same as Anchor "normal threads" the pattern gives for Krenik to DMC which I have then converted into Anchor and I have most of the threads needed, or is it a step too far to use these?
    Is perle cotton different again?
Are there any other brands of metallics? When using metallics do you use them alone or are they used 1 strand with 1 strand of normal cotton?
I have a horrible feeling I am just not up to this yet:eek:

Ok Benny Just Nan sampler charts are more challenging than just cross stitch but the effort is worth it and it's still just one stitch at a time.

First of all Kreinik Silk Mori is just a brand of silk so no problem to convert to DMC/Anchor stranded cotton. Silk is lovely to stitch with but i wouldn't recommend it for your first counted thread sampler (and it costs a LOT more than stranded cotton).

Yes perle cotton is different to stranded - Just Nan uses it a lot for pulled stitches and they are easier to do with perle (where you use just one strand as it comes off the ball). A ball of white shouldn't cost a lot (and you can use Anchor or DMC) and will last ages.

There are other metallics available but in my opinion Kreinik fine braid is one of the easiest to use - you just use one strand straight from the spool. Not cheap at £3+ per spool but you will have lots left over and if you become a JN fan you will use it in other designs.

The overdyed silk will be the hardest to match and the most expensive to buy - I'll have a look to see if I have anything suitable as you don't need much.

Sorry to hear that Willow fabrics have sold out of the 28 count (have they sold out of the Quaker as well as the Cashel?) While the difference between 28 and 32 count doesn't matter on most designs I wouldn't recommend it for this as you will be stitching over 1 thread at times and it will be quite difficult to see the holes on 32 count dark fabric. A magnifier with a good light will help (essential for older eyes like mine:D) Did you ask them if the 28 count deep teal Jazlyn was a suitable alternative?

Let me know if I can help at all - I love Just Nan designs and must have stitched at least 20 of them and would love to convert someone else :D

Hi all - just wondered if anyone has stitched The Gold Collection Sweet Dreams Stocking. (Sorry can't post links)

Its on 18 count aida and most of its done in cross stitch using 2 threads apart from some half cross stitch using one thread. When I came to do the blue in the window it said to use half cross stitch with 5 strands. I have half done it but if seems a bit crowded if you know what I mean. I'm thinking of unpicking and trying maybe full cross stitch with 3 strands. Presume it says to use 5 strands for coverage.

    Any thoughts?

Thank you so much FoS I think you will be getting A LOT of questions on this.

I adore the Just Nan designs and I really hope I am up to doing them, they to me are perfection in samplers and I have seen so many I really like.

I think I am going to use the Anchor threads I have I know its only 6 threads I would need but money is a little tight at the moment. I will buy the krenik metallics as I have never used metallics before and as you have recommended them as the easiest to use I think thats the way to go.

Willow fabrics are closed today and I can't see it on their website. I shall call on Monday and ask about the Quaker. I shall also spend some time today on the web seeing if I can find it anywhere else. Would you say the Quaker or the Cashel is easier to use?

    Thanks so much!!!!!!!

    xoxo
