Thank you for the advice on the lapframe, I will definitely be buying one next week!
My scan went well and I've put the pic on the FB page.
Neecy, I'm am also stitching a dimensions stocking although mine is 14ct. My background sky is half stitches in 4 strands and the trees are half stitches in 5 strands which I'm finding hard going to pull the needle through, I can't imagine what it must be like on 18ct!
Louise I hope you had a good day at the show

will pop back and read and update in a minute............. but just had to run and say hobbycraft have a large clearance section at the mo (assume they have just re-done the shelving plans) and there were some lovely cross stitch kits reduced. I resisted the urge to buy any.
ducks back out quickly to avoid having something thrown at her.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
ok - I can't remember if I did a Boofle update here as well as MSE but here he is:

Troutbeck framed (nope not the pine frame I was going to put it in - it just didn't look right). Went to hobbycraft who apparently sell naff all frames now. soo off to Wilkinsons and this one (frame with inclusive mount £6 :money:) jumped off the shelf and I think (tho i may be biased) makes it look FAB.

Pap – the same reason I was looking at the kits in the clearance sale today……….. something drew me to them even tho I didn’t actually need any.
That chart is lovely – I don’t recognise it tho – sorrrrry. Well done flat eric no wonder I didn’t recognise it, I’d only just started collecting around that time so probably didn’t get that one. Is it not cheaper to buy the entire magaazine on back order/ thro ebay/ etsy if no-one is able to help out?
*louise* - Legoland is on our to-do list too.
Moosmummy - baby is cooking nicely, sorry to find out they aren’t being that nice to poor mummy.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Evening everyone - hope you have all had a good day

Hubby and I had a lovely day out
The show was split into two halls. The first one was all about cardmaking. Some lovely stuff, got some hints and new ideas and bought some decoupage stuff, plenty of glitter and some card.
The Downton Abbey costume display was interesting - those actresses must be tiny though!!
In the second hall, I got all excited at first with all the cross stitch, but after the first row all the stands were for fabric, machine embroidery, or display stands. I only saw one place to buy threads and there was no bargain aida or evenweave.
Most of the stands were selling full kits, there was some money off the RRp but nothing spectacular. I prefer charts anyway as I have all my own threads.
In fact, the only kit I was really tempted by was 'Aurora Cabin' which was 'reduced' to £32.99. I left it, got home and looked it up and found it on the first site I looked at for £28.99!
So I went back to hall 1 and splashed out on Promarkers and a case (always wanted some of them) pastel paper and stamps.
So in the end I came away with this little lot - not a single stitchy item among it

Overall I would say the show is worth going to...but only if you do more than one craft, preferably cardmaking lol.:rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Froddington - sorry for the delay in coming back to you but ended up with complications from op and ended back at hospital. That cross pattern is perfect, just the kind of thing i was looking for.APR NSD - 0/10
Paid off in 2013 so far £125.00
April Money made - £18.000 -
Thanks for that Flat Eric. I will finish the windows and see what it looks like. It just seems a bit strange to make the night sky stand out but it will probably all come together when finished.
One of the kits I did used up to 6 strands in places and I was a bit dubious at first but in the end I see why they did it.

That is a beautiful piece and certainly very 3D. I am also doing Maia's Cobblestone Christmas which uses half cross stitch for the snowy trees and sky in the background. In my stocking though the sky is the only bit that uses 5 strands, the rest is in cross stitch with half cross around the name at the top. Just can't understand why you would bring the sky forward. Anyway, thanks for your help, I'm going to carry on and see what it looks like.0 -
Chicky - Troutbeck looks lovely in that frame, and what a bargain!
Ditto to that - It looks great
Louise - So pleased you had a good time yesterday - even if you didn't get xs stuff.
You often find that the prices are quite high at the shows, as it costs the exhibitors a small fortune for a stand.
I notice that R&R actually charge more for the lap stand than they are selling it on the link posted here via a supplier, now that doesn't make sense to me at all.
Nonetheless I'm really looking forward to seeing the infamous lap stand in the flesh and hopefully finding some beads.0 -
Chickywiggle - Troutbeck looks lovely in that frame and great that it was such a bargain :money:
I don't often go to Hobbycraft as I'm not keen on their prices but I used to buy frames and mounts occasionally so it's useful to know that it's not worth a special trip for that purpose.
And Boofle looks really cute
MoosMummy - glad to hear the scan went well
Louise - your report on the show is very similar to my experience in recent years - they have been taken over by cardmaking stands which is ok if that is also an interest. I used to go to at least 4 shows a year and save up to spend at them but that was before online shopping became so easy and extensive. I still love seeing the stitched examples and have often bought something based on that where I wasn't attracted by the photos on the pack. I also used to love the bargains but agree there aren't a lot of those to be had either. SewItAll used to be at all of the shows and had a great range of fabrics - they seemed to do well judging by all the bright yellow bags I used to see at the shows they attended. Their website says they should have been at the Glasgow show but perhaps they changed their mind? Love the Downton Abbey costume display - that kind of thing really makes the exhibition experience special IMHO
HP Sauce - your fish picture is stunning and must look even more stunning when you can see the 3D effect
Hope everyone has a happy stitchy Sunday0
