Kreinik silk mori is silk thread as opposed to regular anchor cotton. Pelre cotton is more like the standard stuff but with slightly more of a sheen as it's softer

Do you think I should just buy the krenic threads then as they are quite different to normal anchor? I am thinking yes, esp since it is a special piece. And the not knotting seems good due to all the new/unusual stitches.

I really just think I am wanting permission to make a nice big purchase ha ha ha
So on that note - where is the cheapest place to buy krenic silk mori???

Oh and also I can get the fabric only in 32 count, not 28 - I'm still looking.
For a complete novice to evenweave is 32 count just madness??????

32 ct evenweave is the same as 16ct aida - I doubt you'll find it any harder....

But, what're you looking for precisely? I bet we can help you find it x

Kreinik is nice. It's about £3 a reel, it's worth it, if you can afford it. I've not found anything quite as nice x

I have never used linen or evenweave, I have only ever used aida but I do prefer to work on 16/18ct. I was just wondering what everyone prefers?

Benny I would buy the Kreinik. I have just brought my first couple of Kreinik threads but haven't used them yet but was really happy with the colour and feel of them.

Louise Lucky you, have a wonderful day.

DS1 still unwell so may have to send OH to the shops tomorrow for my thread replacement so I can finish the blue on the last fan:D

I'm looking for 28 count zweigart cashel linen in dark teal green. It was on willlow fabrics last week at 1/2 price (when I had no money) Now I've been paid I called them and it has all sold out but I can get the 32 count belfast linen in the same colour for £16.00 inc p&p for a fat 1/4. Having only bought aida i'm shocked at the price!!!!

It effects the size of the finished piece. 16 or 18 refers to the holes per inch (hpi) on the fabric. The more holes per inch, the smaller the final design.

    I prefer 14ct aida / 28 count evenweave :)

They are £2.40 each on sewandso, but I'm not being responsible for you forking out on them until you have counted how many you need :rotfl:

Also - is the final design going to be framed? Because if it's behind glass at the end then you would be as well just using the perle thread imo
