There's a 'Creative Stitches' Show on at the Glasgow SECC this weekend.
Is this the same as the other shows some of you have been going to? I'm thinking about dropping hints to hubby to take me but it's an hours drive, plus we would need a babysitter for our 3 so I don't want to waste my time going unless it's going to be worth itCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I have recommended it to loads of people and no one has been disappointed with it yet.n.
You will be pleased to know I treated myself to this last week. Just wanted to say thank you for recommending it, it's brilliant! Much better than my wooden frame! :jSlimming World Target Achieved 13/09/12!0 -
Finally finished my sampler! Not the usual thing I like to stitch but I'm quite pleased with how it came out. I completely messed up the border and had to unpick most of it but got there in the end.
I'm tempted to have a go at framing it myself...I think the framers would charge me around £70 for something this size, do you think I could do it much cheaper myself or is it just not worth buying the bits to do it and the hassle?Slimming World Target Achieved 13/09/12!0 -

That sampler is lovely, I really like that type of style. I frame all my own designs unless they are a difficult size or shape which make finding a frame and mount difficult.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

PAP your london design is really coming on wonderfully, is it a piece for yourself or a gift for someone?
For me, ILondon and can't wait to go back. Fingers crossed this year. I am going to put ths one on my bedroom wall with a red mount and a white frame. I have a feeling ikea doesn't do the frame I want (the same as what I have already) to this size so I will have to get a different frame for it. Might use a framers for this one though, never used them before but i want this one done correctly. I framed the butterfly piece myself but the mount wasn't very good
Not picked it back up tonigh, having a night off from it... Reading new job material instead :cool:0 -
PAP - London's looking really good. I think the red mount and whote frame will set it off.
HP-sauce - your sampler's lovely. I normally frame myself as well and use the lace method. The only thing I do have made is the mount as I'm not very good as cutting one.
Soulie - your kit looks nice and I can't see the change in pink thread or hte fact that you ran out of one of the brown colours.
Haven't done much stitching today and find it quite hard going at night as the aida is navy blue and it makes my eyes ache. I have charted out a letter D with a small tank attached to it for my Dads birthday next week. It was from an alphabet chart in a magazine a year or so ago, I just had to change a motorbike for a tank so not very stretching really. Will sort out the aida and thread tonight so that I can can start it tomorrow when my Dads not with me.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

When framing a have used the lace method but not always some times i just use tape to secure it to the mount/ internal board. I collect frames and mounts from all places including carboots and charity shops. Hobbycraft have a great range of mounts and if i can't find a mount I want i just colour or cover a plain one in fabric/paper. But I always frame with glass, and you can buy deep frames if yout piece has beadwork or french knots.
I live just outside of London and I'm grateful just because there is always so much goign on and a lot of free activites so we take the kids there all the time, especially in the holidays, but wouldn't want to live within the city itself, more of a country girl. PAP a red mount will really show the design of to its best.
I haven't done much more stitching tonight, instead i have created a computer file listing all my threads and beads. I already keep them all in order in boxes but thought this would be yet another way to keep track of what I have. Especially as I am a bit of a magpie for the speciality threads and have a few doubles.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Yes it is the same company who organise the show at the NEC that we've been talking about, who organise this show too.
Have a look here to learn more about it. If you click on the exhibitors list, on the left hand side, you get to see all the companies who will be there too.
It's not cheap to get in though, so it might be worth going on your own, or if you need a lift, finding something else to entertain the driver!0 -
hpsauce- that's gorgeous and while I don't know anything about xstitch method . I framed two watercolours last week (first two I've ever framed) and one I bought a frame for £18 at country baskets . the other much bigger I bought bootsale £1 . my friend had her pictures framed £27 (two smallish ones) you couldn't tell the difference between them all. in fact I think the bootsale buy was the nicest and so did other people.
to add I don't usually frame watercolours but I do painting for relaxation once a week and they wanted two of my pictures to put in a gallery last week.
queenb -good idea putting things on computer, I'm computer addict and never think of tthings like that.
I did some xstitch last night but it was hard as I started with White in the middle. White on White wasn't a very good idea at night I don't think , i took my time and the stitches are all the same way so far. i used the loop method to start . i found it abit tricky but i am learning x
Louise the only show I been to is the nec and it was huge.
pap love the London xstitch , I find it fastinating watching it come together.
