Thanks for the picture. Yes it does make more sense now. So would you go for the larger frame if you mostly do bigger pieces?
I wouldn't
I do do large pieces, but the smaller frame is sufficient enough to work them (there is a large and small side on it, you can use either) but I find having the smaller section as well gives me more scope for medium sized designs as well as large ones so I can use it twice as much.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Afternoon!
Progress so far on Bobbie G below. I'm enjoying doing this eventhough it has been quite labour intensive. Still have to finish colouring in the fields and then I can start on my linework !!
I don't know what baby's first name is but I have found out he will have 2 middle names as well as his surname so I am going to put his name, DOB and weight in only (should all fit!). Can't do first name and surname as one of his middle name's is his mother's surname and I don't want to cause any issues!
Reading posts from *Louise* has got me thinking about getting a lap frame now as well!!! You're a great sales woman0 -
^^LOL, I've been told I should ask for commission :rotfl:
On the stitching front, I am feeling slightly frustrated. A freind asked me to stitch a Royal Regiment of Scotland cap badge for him but I can't find a chart on the net ANYWHERE. (Have even emailed companies asking if they will be stocking it anytime soon)
Finally managed to upload a pic (thanks Soulie) but it's massive! I tried making it smaller but I lose all the writing. I edited what I could on a 9x7 picture and now I can't get it to print out (it didn't look all that great anyway, I was just practicing with it). Have shut the programme down in disgust lol
I'm now going to try and chart it myself freehand, see how that works out
He better flipping appreciate it!!:rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Question.........what does everyone use to hold their stitching, I normally use a hoop but sometimes stitch without it.
Hoops for me, the bigger the better :T I purchased this thing last year/this year and its the worst thing invented. I am desperate to try Louise's lap frame but I need to wait until I have had a few pennies from my new job first
More of London done last night :j Off to do some more now :beer:0 -
Pap I have 3 of those things can't use them at all, they just don't hold the material tight enough for me, maybe there is a trick we are missing!13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

I use the non-lap version of the frame Louise uses. I have all the different sizes and because it's so light I find it easy to hold with one hand while I stitch with the other. And I love the fact that you can swap the piece you're working on without having to cut any stitches or remove any staples/tape etc. etc.
Can't remember who was asking if the company will be at the NEC Hobbycraft but they always have been when I've been in the past. Always on the same stand, too - so easy to find! Coming in the main door, turn right and they're usually on that first line of stalls against the wall. R+R Crafts or something like that.
My four seasons and Eden patterns arrived today as well. They're really striking - not very big, so should be easy to complete but they'll look stunning from across a room.0 -
More great replies ladies.
I spent all afternoon sorting my threads out onto little spools to be more efficient.
I got a cutting machine the Silhouette Cameo which I love and designed some paper spools on it and cut them out.
I did buy a plastic storage box that was suppose to have 50 spools in but there was 12 .
So tonight I m going to start the free little cross stitch off a magazine. I`ll keep practising and try to make sure the stitches are in the correct order.
One question.....
I know questions, questions.
Do you start in the middle and work out or do you start at one end

Do you start in the middle and work out or do you start at one end
Always start in the middle, that way you don't risk misjudging the fabric and running out of space.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Susan - Don't worry about the questions, keep them coming. Most people start in the centre as that way you are not going to accidentally run out of space for the design.
I usually mark the centre of the fabric with a couple of intersecting rows of coloured sewing thread and the chart itself is usually marked where the centre point is.0
