As a heritage conservator I really have to recommend plastic storage over cardboard, as cardboard gives off decaying fumes. Even a pound land plastic tub is better than cardboard (that's what I use!). But do allow for some air movement around things too. Acid free tissue would be nice, esp for heirloom pieces. I might have to de-centralize some damaged sheets from work!
Thanks for the tips :T I always hated the plasticky smell of the boxes tbh but I have one or two spares since I cleaned out the boys room on Mondaycatwoman150 wrote: »Iwow louise what are you going to do with all those finished projects ?flowerofscotland wrote: »Wow - that is impressive output. Do you have any plans for these stitched pieces? I've got quite a few but nothing like 100. A small number of them are large pieces and the challenge is the cost of proper framing (typically around £50-£60) plus where to hang them. I was asked if I had an enormous house to display all my stitchings - I don't so I don't have any spare space. Adding a big picture would mean retiring something and storing framed stitchings is much more difficult.
I honestly have no ideaHubby said I sould eay some of them but the money they make probably wouldn't even cover the cost of the materials.
I think in the past year I have only been into the box once, my mum asked if I had any stitched elephants as a leaving gift for someone at work...ta-dah!:rotfl:
As you say flowerofscoland, it's the cost and space for framing which means they are in athe box, I really want to get the bigger pieces framed (Mermaids of the deep, Stealing the Moon, 12 Days of Christmas and Map of Europe to name a few) but I never get round to it. I NEED to work the cost of one framing per month into the hosuehold budget I think and start rotating pictures on the walls.
I do gift a lot though, looking at last years projects:
Rennie Mack wedding sampler - Brother and SIL
Highland Living - Gran's 80th
Tinkerbell - Stored
Gorjuss Little Rabbit - Sisters birthday
Lion King - Stored
Teachers coasters - End of year gift
Xmas Cards - Made into picture for ME
Princess Cushion - DD's birthday
Sunset Mermaid - Storage
12 Days of Xmas - Storage
Dalek - Nephew's Christmas
So only 4 pics went ito the box last year. One of these days I will lay them out and take a pic of them all and send it to a magazine or something :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Okay guys, a bit of advice please.
I found this photo on google images a couple of days ago, hoping to get a chart for it, but when I clicked on it I got a dead link, so I figured it was small enough and when enlarged easy enough to reproduce myself
Original photo
Sooooo I just spent 15 minutes in my designer program putting in each stitch by hand and below is my result.
Now, there are a couple of backstitch mistakes, which I couldn't figure out how to remove, so ignore them, and also ignore the fact that he has a peach face and tail, stupid white wouldn't show up on a white background lol (the stitched version will have a white face and tail).
But aside from that do you guys think it is okay??
Maybe I should change some of the backstitch so it isn't so blocky, like on the original? Or do you think it is okay as it is??
Thanks in advance!

Soulie - I think it looks perfect!:T Exactly like the original. Regarding making it less 'blocky' - well, you obviously liked the original enough the way it was so I wouldn't see the point in changing it.:)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Phew Louise - that's a lot of completed pieces :T
Well done Soulie on your eagle chart.
Had been planning on going into town this afternoon to order mount for Tulips but then realised the town goes to sleep on wed afternoon. Will try to make it in the morning.
Hope your stitching mojo comes back soon Willlow. Keep reading posts and hopefully you might pick up some inspiration soon.
Take care everyone

Soulie - I agree with Louise I think the chart looks exactly like the picture - well done.
Louise -100 finished pieces in a box sounds a lot but at the speed you stitch I'm not surprised. I will have a little look at what's in my box. I know I have 3 large finished pieces that need framing. I'm going to the NEC next month to the Craft and Stitch show so hoping to get frames there and self frame.
Willow92 - I think we all lose our "stitching mojo" at some point. Maybe start something small but that has a special meaning to you. Good luck.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j
