The scan is done :j and it found absolutely nothing!!!!!! Will now remove avast - Does anyone have any idea what has caused this to happen? Was it my sons fault? Oh....The avast is gone????????? Its not on the laptop anymore - dont know where it could be

341 errors found! It was hardly out of the box!!! Its also saying there is no antivirus??? Apparently it will only fix the errors if we buy the product - is this correct?
The fact it was only out of the box is sadly quite irrelevant. All you need to do is go to one infected website and it'll load a ton of stuff on.
Malwarebytes should remove without needing to buy.0 -

Where is the log? It's not necessarily over.0 -
I know your now sorted, but it might be worth clicking on "my computer",see if you have anything that says RECOVERY,if so ,is there a manual on the computer that tells you how to access that if windows wont start, just a thought if you get stuck in the future.I have to restart mine and press F10 to acess recovery.
As for your problem,my daughter has very often picked up malware from images, dont know iif this was the cause in your case.0 -

Yes and no. Yes because he went to probably a not legitimate website for pictures and clicked on a fake antivirus popup.
No because he didn't know about them being fake.
When you have the computer up and running.....
Go to Control Panel, Accounts. Create a new account. Make it an Administrator account AND PUT A PASSWORD ON IT. Next, log off then log in with the new account name and again go to Control Panel, Accounts. This time select your sons account and change it to Standard User. This will limit malware's ability to access system files in the future and make it a bit harder to get infected.
Also, run Windows Update. I would also personally install Google Chrome web browser as it is more secure than Internet Explorer. You'll need to do this logged in with the administrator account you created as the standard user account isn't allowed to install software.0
