Have signed in and there is still nothing...When you click on start there is just an empty box, when you type into the search bar - nothing is found. It seems the whole lot has been wiped

It hasn't been wiped. Just hidden.

Can you open the browser? If so, save rkill to the Desktop.

You can download a few of the different links from the same page in case one does not open when we go to open them.

Otherwise you will have to download to a USB drive.

Ok, let's go back. Turn the machine off and go back to the F8 screen, but this time choose 'Safe Mode with Command Prompt'.

When you get to the Command Prompt Window, type sfc /scannow and hit the Enter key.
