    Ok, you've done it. Let it run it's course. ;)

    Didn't expect that. Let's try a System Restore to before the problem began.

    Back to Safe Mode with Command Prompt and this time enter rstrui.exe

    Choose a point a month ago.

    Strange that this is mainly reported on machines running Avast.

    Do you have Factory Restore discs or a Recovery Partition? If it comes to it we can save his important info and just run a clean install. Have to go for a while. Back a bit later. Stay signed in.
  • I have never used Avast before I just assumed it would do its job and stop any viruses - I did not expect this to happen

    Hang in there. I know this is frustrating, but these guys know what they are doing, if anyone can get you back up and running they can.

    In the meantime you need diversionary tactics to take your child's attention elsewhere.....
