hi dundeedoll, thank you, she was a bit plae this morning so stayed off school, but by dinnertime back to her normal self, school 2mor. her nickname, when she was 4, we were asked to leave an amusement arcade in Rhyl as she had the hood up on her cardigan, - ended up famous - and the nickname stuck!

Glad u got th boiler sorted, esp with this cold snap we've got forcast, apparenlty its from Russia, why they couldn't just send us the vodka, be more than happy.
Vistaprint, best thing since sliced bread, - the bag would look brill with a marmite photo.

If you don't think being cheeky, if you pm your email address, I can refer you to vistaprint, there send you a offer of 250 free business cards, then when you sign up, click accept emails and they send you offers, generally bags are £12, but there usually on a free offer. x

    Morning all

I can back up Mum2one about Vistaprint Dundeedoll. I got mugs for the great nieces and nephews last year, all with their names on, then filled them up with gold choc coins and some cello round them, they loved them. All the girls in the family had a bag with their name on and the boys had t-shirts with "Made In" and then their year of birth. The grandsons had baseball caps too with their names on.

My daughter bought me a book for Christmas showing you how to do wet felting, which is getting yarns and rubbing them together so they stick and makes a fabric then you can make things out of it. The book shows you how to make scarves and they look really nice so I bought a big bag of the wool stuff you need on EB the other day so I can have a go and see if I can do them. If they come out ok I will be giving the nieces and my two daughters one each for Christmas, may be my sisters too. I will have to get the book out later and see what else I need to get for them.

I found the bag I made for my sister that went missing, it had gone down the back of the bed in the spare room so I just need to finish that off and thats another present done.

    Hello all :j
So far no snow but my word it's cold !!!! Got blood test in the morning ast 8.30am !! Be freezing around then so not looking forward to venturing out before the sun starts shining (I hope)

Not done much today apart from cutting out a flower from an odd piece of material and stitching it on to a fairly plain fabric heart, then did a bit of embroidery on some more fabric for another heart. Think everyones going to be having hearts or somesort of stitching this year...............lol

Hope you're all ok and keeping warm :)

    Hello all :j

We had snow last night  I got up at the crack of dawn to get ready for blood test then saw it all out the window. No way was I going to chance slipping over and with two sticks its not easy to grab hold of the nearest wall. So, mines been cancelled till another week. OH went for his though. He's better on his feet than me and only needs one stick.
So, I hibernated and made yet another little fabric heart...............lol

mum2one - hope you're not coming down with something and yes, my little hearts would be lovely in a wardrobe if they had any smelly stuff in them.........lol They're purely ''decorative'' for want of a better word.....................lol

Want to have a go at applique using odd bits of material I might have kicking about but don't really know what to do other than cards or a cushion. Ideas welcome.

Off to google ''applique designs'' for inspiration

Hope you're all ok and keeping warm:)

Mary, how about little bags for putting the hearts in? Like a gift bag but made out of fabric.

We got two of the free tickets to the Ideal Home Exhibition earlier that were on the MSE site. I am really chuffed as we went before and really enjoyed ourselves. We bumped into Jeremy Beadle last time lol, no chance of it this time.

Boiler bill came today ouch, but has made me more determined than ever to end each month in the black. Had meeting up at hospital, lunch provided (though clearly budget! No rich pickings of leftovers for the empty bread bag i now carry everywhere for such opportunities. Got given cake after church for my bread bag on sunday then walked past very cold hungry beggar who was delighted with 6pieces of fruit cake!) decided to have a look round floor on concourse - found £1.20 :D then walked back to office (25 mins.) Work would have paid for taxi tho i normally get bus and dont claim so another £1.40 saved. Bit peckish later on but have got into habit of having lidl breakfast bar in bag so rather than spending found pound on sweeties from sweetie box in tea room munched on that. So today was my 2nd NSD this month. Am thrilled with my new habits and looking forward to learning lots more. xxx

After long illness, FIL died this morning in nursing home. OH had gone down again Thursday knowing death was imminent. Left me a bit numb. MIL not eating properly so OH buying food for her. Don't know when the funeral is.
On a brighter note, going off for a birthday w/e in March. Birthday girl is very keen on vodka and happened to see battleship game with boats made from cardboard and filled with shots of vodka on Facebook.

So am putting thinking cap on for making her some sort of vodka-themed game. Either that with one bottle of vodka or Os and Xs with two vodkas (one coloured one clear). Lidl usually has some good offers. I already have far more shot glasses than I need so that part will be free, as will card as still have some left in the craft cupboard :D Any thoughts?

    Hello all :j:j

dundeedoll - so sorry to hear about FIL but at least you seem the sort of person who's able to focus on something more positive. That'll help you no end I'm sure.

I'm being megga thrifty.............lol Yesterday I dragged a pull on fleece out of the wardrobe (never did fit right) and cut it up the middle turning it into a sort of ''cardigan'' affair. I'd never go out in it (except the garden) but its nice and warm........bit of a ''make do and mend'' session coming on I think. Have to see what else is in the ''throw out//charity shop bag'' that I can can give a new lease of life to. I know there's a long brown jersey skirt somewhere thats got a hole in it and I thought a pretty floral patch would sort that out.

Hope you're all ok and keeping safe and warm in this dreadful weather:)
