I too would make the decision not to buy. I have had the same thing for the last 5 years. Every year I have bought my nieces and nephews, 4 one family 2 another.

I have never had a thank you christmas or birthday. They`ve never bought back but I thought dont take it out on the kids. I used to post the things and often wondered if it had got there . So I started leaving stuff at a friends who lived nearby to them and she`d deliver it xmas eve.

Never have I been thanked. This year. My SIL went to my friends house and asked where the presents were. even accused friend of taking them.....

So from now on no more and I already feel better as I thought to myself, they wont notice they`re not having them, but now I know the parents did notice....and I`ve kept the money for myself. Ps used to spend about £30 each and the two eldest would have a cheque (so I`d know they got it when they cashed it)[/QUOTE

I am not doing it next year. Lets see if they notice next year when we turn up with just presents for the parents. I too do not give to receive but its been going on a couple of years now so im giving up xx

04624181 - I think you made a good decision, but be prepared next xmas to be the baddie in it all as they`ll try to guilt you into it.

Rufus - How annoying. My OH lost all the xmas things for xmas day, the tablecloths , the dishes, turine, everything. I told him it was in the garage, no its in the house he said.....well I told him, if it doesnt turn up by 1pm on 23rd Dec , I`m having all new.

23rd dec 1pm we went to mill village and I got the lady in the shop to loan me a table so I could lay my "christmas dinner" table. We were there 2.5hrs while I mixed and matched everything and when I was happy. OH paid . We came home, he went in the garage, came out with the boxes he had lost and wanted to take all the new back..................no way!!!!!

So I think your OH has probably mislaid it and has mens vision where he puts his head in the attic and see nothing....

Mary, well done on those cards, keep them coming....

    Hello all :j

rufus - I'm sure it'll turn up but I hate it when things like that happen. Mind you, with me its normally because I'm such a puddle brain I forget where I've put things.

Cleared my desk today:T and you wait......another day I'll be looking for something and won;t be able to find it now I've moved stuff around.
Thats just the top of the desk...........drawers and the underneath to do..... Not a chore I look forward to but needs to be done.
Neighbours daughter has said she'll help me clear the bookcase out before it explodes............lol And theres stuff all over the top of the blanket box in here that I've got to shift before I can empty the box  Very satisfying when its done though.

susan - no cards today due to the desk clearing -did find a little cross stitch pattern..........I'd never be able to do it but the aida and threads will be used for something else. Just shows how things get forgotten about.

Trying to get really organised before cleaning girl leaves in 2 weeks. Then at least the new one will have a fresh start -hopefully.

    Hope you're all ok:)

I had a phone call from YD's college this morning to say she wasnt there and they were worried about her. Was news to me as she left to go this morning so I started to panic, then the woman told me she hadnt seen her since beginning of December. You can imagine how I felt. I managed to get hold of her on her phone after a while, she was at her friends house. Came home and we had a good talk trying not to lose it. She said she dont want to go to college anymore, she is doing the wrong course, wants to be a paramedic instead. Managed to get her to email the tutor who rang earlier and arrange to go in for a chat. She went this afternoon and rang me after to say its all sorted out, her tutor told her she can go to Uni and do the course she wants after doing this one and it would help her as its caring for kids and she would get kids anyway. She has done first aid course already so tutor suggested she join St Johns Ambulance and do some voluntary work with them.

My head is banging tonight after all the stress lol but I am relieved she has sorted things out.

I sold something on my shop this afternoon so that was a nice end to the day. I need to go to the town tomorrow to post it and I can have a look round at the charity shops and see if I can find any nice fabrics going. Then we have our new mattress being delivered in the afternoon so I will have to be home for that later.

Rufus, Oh my heck, what a bombshell to drop on you, sounds between you, and the tutor, you've got somewhere.

Thats brilliant news that she will be able to do the course she wants at uni, even try Red Cross as well if she can't get in with St Johns.

Good news on the sale, your stuff fab, had a peep from the blog, look great.

Think you need a large glass of wine after all that, and DD on washing up duty for a week!. xx

I made do with a large glass of tonic water Mum2one as I dont drink alcohol.

We were supposed to get out new mattress yesterday, I brought the old one down stairs after stripping the bed, not an easy job with my dodgy arms. Then when they knocked two blokes took my old mattress and put it in the lorry and another bloke came with a paper for me to sign. Luckily he didnt have a pen so I brought it in doors to find a pen myself and saw on the paper that there was no sign of a delivery, just collection. So I went and asked the bloke if they had my new mattress with them and he didnt know what I was talking about so went and got his gov who had to ring in, ends up the bloke I spoke to on phone day before had only booked for the collection after all and forgot to say we needed a new one delivered. Now I have to wait until Tuesday until I can get it changed.

Right pain in the neck. I wrote a nice complaint letter to their head office which will get posted today. Not only was it an inconvenience yesterday with the struggling to get the mattress down, I was supposed to be meeting someone yesterday afternoon and put it off so I could get my bed sorted sooner rather than later and also the mattress is so uncomfortable to lay on and I now have to put up with it another three days. Its not the kind you can turn over either.

We are popping round Son's this morning as we have some bits for them that the family brought for the baby. They had left it all at my Dad's as my Son didnt manage to get over there when everyone else came down. Also have his older one's birthday present ready to take as its his birthday next week. We got him a Spiderman tshirt in Sports Direct with some money we had left over from the trainers that had to be changed.plus the football annual from WH Smith sale.

Wow Rufusdog, it's all going on with you! Hope you get things sorted.

We're all sick and snotty here, having a husband on immunosuppressants *and* a toddler means the two of them are constantly bringing germs home. I'm tempted to hang hand disinfectants at all the doorways.
