Dont feel down, you've done so well so far. There's only so much stuff anyone has to put on ebay at once - its normally over a period of time, if you get me? :) so chin up, you're doing great.

ohhh thanks for coming in and trying to pull me together again..

my thing really is that I have just spent £145 on passover costs, which is not bad, but still a lot of money. but I decided that i felt so horrible not going to the purim party that i cant skip this, it will be the best thing ever.

So I told myself I need to cap my amex bill at £600 till the 10th of April and I am already at £410 because of this... I overspent at the weekend plus passover which is just about to hit my card.. so I am left with £190 for another 26 days if I stick to my budget... :( How am I to do that??? and there is still the orange bill to pay too!! another £70, ohhmy god...

what to do, i am so stupid why didnt I control myspending, ohhh gosh its so horrible :(:(:(:(:(

  • Good Morning!!

Try not to feel down hun - I know how it is when you start on such a roll with selling things, paying nice chunks off etc, and then things can slow down a bit, but please dont get disheartened. We are waiting for a letter from HSBC funnily enough too (not to do with bank charges), and they have had ages to write back.. grrr:mad: ...

I think now would be a great time for you to sit back and make a list of everything that you have achieved in such a short space of time - it is easy to lose sight of but, believe me, you are doing extraordinarily well and your enthusiasm and determination shines through in your writing on here :A

Re. books, do you have a local second hand book shop near you that may want to buy some books from you? Just a thought...

Like I said, please dont get down and spend the day being proud of all that you have achieved so far, the sun is shining down and your progress is wonderful .. keep smiling x

Draw up a budget on paper for the next 26 days - it may seem insurmountable now, but getting it on paper will clarify where the money is to go and on which days, you can do it x :T

I have still not received anythign from HSBC and I think I am chickening out, I dotn want to pay £30 for courtfees… :( but at least I got a goodwill adjustment so… ohhh so hard sometimes, why am I getting down always a week after payday??? I have already spent so much money…. This is depressig, I spent most of my money within 3 days of getting paid, how ridicuous is that… am really just about to cry. Re books: we only have oxfam I'm afraid…

HSBC are horrible, hope you hear from them I think I will give up to be honest…. I will try to draw a budget but I know it will just dishearten me cus I know I wotn be able to stick to it… :(

Thanks for the suggestion to make a list, here you go.

    List of my achievments.

I paid off 2600 off my debt since november 2006. (this includes a 678 amex bonus so its actually only £2000.

I sold things on ebay totalling to £287. (that’s good.)

I spent half as much in February since budgeting than in January, when not.

Well basically that’s it, and the list where I failed would be pages long.. Ohh I am just down. Sorry to be so negative.
    Main points are as follows:

1.) I got into hospital since cutting back (on food)
2.) I missed the best party of the year for the sake of money saving
3.) I cant even enjoy a nice coffee or a bit of chocolate
4.) I have to say no when my friends go to theatre, eating out, and when I don’t say no, I just spend and my debt gets bigger
5.) my credit score is crap
6.) everyone thinks I am cheap and no fun

I kind of feel I hate my life today. :( I won't give up but its so hard right now… I never wanted anything so badly like I want to be debt free right now.

  • Hey hun....
Dont give up on the HSBC - Have you looked over on the bank charges thread for a bit more advice on this? Things like budgeting etc all seem simple on paper, but in reality they are difficult to put into practice - everyone struggles with it so dont beat yourself up about it. Have you looked through some of the other threads such as 'what is the best thing that has happened to you today' (I think its called ;) )

A lot of us are feeling a bit low right now it seems, so please take comfort from the fact you are not alone, and you WILL get through this , before you know it your name will be on the debt free roll of honour and you will be a shining example of someone who can achieve being debt free through hard work and steely determination.

    :D KEEP HAPPY HUN XX:D

Yeah I checked the bank charges board and I am just not prepared to take the court route. If they don’t pay me, I don’t know, then I guess I lost out on this. But look, my HSBC balance is going down really nicely: I am at (can you believe) £1020.61!! (I just paid an additional 100 off because I received paypal pament.) 1021! My goal is to bring it under 1000 permanently, this basically means, bring it to 980 because then it would still be under 1000 even with the interest. So that means an extra £40, this I will have to earn on ebay (paypal). SO far my balance is £11.24 and another 5 items selling, expected profit from that is £30, and if this is so, then I will be fine. I forgot to mention that I went £15 into my overdraft on Natwest so the greenmet payment of £17 will just about cover it…

I just wish I would be debt free already. All this extra money could go on to my savings. I could have savings.. I so want to do it as soon as possible, debt is the dnastiest, most disgusting, scariest thing ever….

And you will be, before you know it and it will be an amazing feeling... have you been on the financial ombudsmen website? I know you can complain about bank charges through them too ... x

Well I guess I could complain but then again it wont give me my money back unless I go down the court route… I will give it a go though.
Desperately trying to find things to sell on ebay, cant think of anything, am panicking and feeeling really bad… I just really don’t know what else to sell I think I foolishly thought that this ebay income will become a permanent one…

    I am so down today.

I am going down the ombudsmen route myself, was inspired by another poster, laurajayne, who had got her charges back this way (hope she doesnt mind me mentioning her! ;) ). Have just returned the complaint form to the ombudsmen, who are now looking into it on my behalf... dont know if I'll be successful but I found the court route a bit overwhelming (personal choice:o )

Have you had a ruthless root around in your wardrobe? Any purses/bags you no longer use? Have you got a friend willing to help you out with selling things on amazon? xx
