  • Sorry I abandoned the diary for so long – I am not feeling great about the DFW thing right now.

First of all thank you so much for all your comments.

I forgot to write down that on Friday I also bought a book for £11, and while it was amazing and worth reading, I just saw it on my amex statement and almost had a heart attack. And another £1.25 for a little glass that held my cleanser because the original was 200ml and I couldn’t bring it on the plane… And yesterday I went out to dinner with my friend and spent £10, and I am a failure.

But, on food budget I am still doing well and spending about half of what I spent last month which is great. Another good news that my dad bought me the suitcase so I did not have to pay for it, that’s £10 saving. Next good news that since I got the season ticket loan to my amex, even though I paid it out again to buy the ticket, the system recognised it as if I had paid off the whole card and even though I spent on it since, they did not charge me interest! This means about £18 saving (that was last month’;s interest) And from now on I will be able to pay off the full amount every month so no interest anymore on amex! This leaves me with about £35 interest that I am paying on hsbc and m&s card, maybe even less, I will have to sum it up in March. This is good too. Yesterday I did not have lunch, that’s £1.25 saving. (but Im still a failure because I spent £10 on dinner…)

I am sorry Im being so negative, I just feel like Im losing the will to save, but also the will to spend, or just to do anything…. I don’t have willpower.

And I have carefully decided that I will NOT go to the purim party. Its £42. Plus costume. I cant afford it. It makes me feel awful, I cried about it too. But I made my decision and told them and today is the deadline actually. So that’s it, I will have to wait another year. But then, that will be a debt free year and I will be able to go without having to think about it. But right now I am just down.

Thank you for all your posts, I will try to take your advice but right now I feel I have just lost the will to live  it will pass… :( oh there is another positive thing, my dad gave me 6 dvds so I wont need to buy any for at least two months!!!

Thanks Lynz for your present buying tips and also for the “buying consciousness” questions I need to ask myself… I will do that but right now I am just afraid to spend…. Miggy – I tried pasta and its lovely, lovely and cheap, but then again, its so unhealthy that I am afraid to eat it all the time, I don’t want tog et fat… but anyway, its lovely, esp with tomato sauce  and its below £1!!!

Seaxqyn pls could you let me know where could I get my eyebrows done for a fiver? I really don’t want to do it anymore at selfridges…

And thanks to Catt and everyone for your lovely and encouraging words. :)

Hey chick, keep your chin up. -hug- you know, we can't have good days all the time. You know why? Because then we wouldn't appreciate the good days when they do happen. Its okay to fall off the wagon, just pick yourself up and climb back on. :)

  • Why do you think you will get fat if you eat pasta?

Do you intend to deep fry a bucket load and eat it with chips?

Research your ideas about food and the amount you need to eat to put on even one pound of weight Deliciosa, you might get a pleasant surprise.

As for the giving up, well, go ahead, give up after doing so well but then having a bit of a blip (like everyone does).

Don't worry about making good of any slips ups, for example, selling on the book via GreenMetropolis or EBAY, looking for cheaper alternatives to things like eyebrow waxing (is that the same as threading?), planning ahead etc. Just give up it's soooo much easier!

However I pity you in a year's time when you look back and realise how far you could have come if you had just picked yourself up, dusted yourself off and accepted that nobody on this site, not even you, is a perfect DFW-er.

If you think getting rid of debt and permanently changing old habits happens overnight or even in a few weeks and is easy for us all, you are wrong.

You can choose to dismiss all the good work you have done, the savings you have made in a short space of time and bin it all off because you had to spend some money on a trip away and never ask yourself the question "Who doesn't?"

Personally I think you can turn this around a whole lot quicker than you think and a lot quicker than a lot of us. Personally I think you can come out the other side of this a new person with a fresh approach to money, maybe someone who can educate people close to you about saving money.

But it's up to you of course.

  • By the way, I was in a NERO cafe at the weekend and I notice that they also do soya milk drinks, and they have a reward card system.

    Have you checked them out?

  • Wow.

Nic: thank you x hope you like the dvds... how are you? Im actually feeling better, especially after reading what you and lookingahead said...

    Lookingahead:

thanks for the tell-off... I needed it...

just first of all, well, pasta is less healthy than salads, but true that I shouldnt worry about eating it.

I am NOT going to give up money saving and dfw-ing! (even though for some funy reason I still havent received a nerd number though I keep asking... anyone knows how to obtain one??) And I never had my eyebrow waxed so no idea if its the same as threading, I dont think so...

I am soo not going to give up, I am not some sad spendaholic person who cant control their money... and I am on the right path and I will not join the miserable crowd of the debtors who dont care...

I never heard of greenmetropolis, whats that?

Its just so hard... when I succeedthats nice and gives me strength but when I feel that I fail I feel that I failed my whole monthly budget and it doesnt matter anymore. But then again, if then I keep spending, I mess it up even more....

The thing is, I realised that my debt free date is MONTHS away, even if I save like mad... and I know its a nonsense, but I felt that since I sincerely regret the whole debt thing and I really want to change and work for it, I kind of deserve to get out of it quikcly. I want to save money , save up, possibly for a flat, I dont want to pay off money... and I KNOW this is nonsense, but repaying debt gives you (me) this feeling. I just want the whole thing to be over. I just want it to be payday again.

You have no idea how much you help me with your posts, everyone, but right now especially you lookingahead. Thank you. I'll now go through my accounts and see whats happening.

You should do! I should have mentioned before, that's where I get my drinks and once you've had 9, you get 9 stamps and can get your tenth drink for free. Lovely soya lattes they do too ;)

I do the loyalty programme at body shop and am just due to a £10 gift actually!!!

I have just registered at greenmetropolis and I listed one book, just to see how quickly it sells - I have zillions of books to be honest, I could make a small fortune if this system was working...

Its quite a slow selling one, GM. I've only sold one book on there, but every little thing helps, right? :)
