    Are you married...?;)
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

maybe son isn't a adult? I would regard myself as living alone if I just had my daughter (aged 15)

So why did he let himself into her porch, instead of knocking on the outer door?

do you know the OPs home set up? most porches I've seen mean folks inside cant hear knocking and its an ancillory door to the 'main' door insiide

OK...the guy is a postie but had no mail for this lady.....yet he went knocking on her door.

he bit about hoping to use her facilities doesnt ring true. Wanting a pee is not normally an immediate thing unless he has some kind of affliction.

Perhaps he ,in all innocence, quite liked the lady and was about to ask her for a date....but then it got awkward.

Either way,,i would put it down to experience and keep my outer door locked.

I will just ad that as a house caller myself...i do sometimes have to open the outer door and knock on the inner because either there is no bell,it isnt working or it isnt heard...

If i were delivering something, i would do the same...why..?

Because i would want to use my best endeavors to deliver the item
I am there with good and lawful intent

I am not a delivery person and often my need to enter is much more..ermm..imminent but the same principles apply.

This postie had no reason to be there. He did not have a letter or package.

If i were in his position..i would have looked out for a public place with toilets..i.e garage, supermarket ,whatever.

I doubt i'd knock on and ask a customer unless i had a specific need to knock and hand over a package,in which case,my request would form part of the normal exchange..

    a garage,supermarket or wherever.
you do realise there are whole areas with no facilities at all except houses?
and theres plenty of folks who will and have reported posties for answering the call of nature behind bushes and the like
RM don't make provision for staff on delivery

We have the set up you describe, which is why we intsalled a doorbell so we do hear when someone is at the door.

The number of people though who don't use it and instead scratch at the door and expect you to materialise within seconds!

The porch is always locked apart from a very few instances it i'm expecting a delivery and I don't want to risk not hearing them. I do find though this confuses the postman, who leaves the post on the floor in the porch (in full view of anyone passing as the door is open), instead of putting it through the letterbox on the front door which would mean it comes directly and securely into the house.

Yes, if you have any company later today you can read it all out to them to give them that heart warming glow of Christmas. A sort of alternative Christmas message, more fun than Corky.
Mmm, that's an odd idea, except that they're illegal in UK, so I'm afraid I'll have to take a rain check on this occasion, but thanks for the thought anyway. Sorry, Satan Claws (I'm dyslexic), not allowed, but ta for trying. Shame you didn't read my postcard with my requests that I sent to the North Pole. Oh well. C'est la vie.
    You have a lively imagination.
But watch out doing talk like that here otherwise you'll likely have various people accusing you of being a racist, which, as you can see, has already happened on this thread a few times.
Probably, but that wouldn't have much or any relevance to this incident. Lots of CRB checked people get caught doing lots of crime all the time everywhere.
No, he's obviously a burglar, a sex maniac, a stalker, a kidnapper, a loony and a serial killer, but not necessarily in that order. They all are. It's a well known fact, it's on the telly and in the rags all the time. Everyone's a deranged psychopath these days, there aren't any normal people left any more, everyone's gone completely potty mad. Except me, of course, I'm the only sane one left. And my voices in my head completely agree with me about this. So that confirms it.

    Goodz

When most other people where trying to calm the situation down, with rational explanations of what may have occured, you go in all guns blazing, possibly terrifying the poor Girl, who is also pregnant. If she wasn't terrified before she will be now.

The chances of the postie being a serial killer, rapist, peadophile, terrorist are alsmost non existent.

Unless you have worked out on the road or on deliveries, you do not know how hard it is to find somewhere to have a pee when you are desperate.

Talk about me having an over enthusiastic imagination, Your post looks like the next script for a Die hard Movie !

I really think you need to take some medication, that post was so erratic

Thats because half the doorbells outthere don't work so you stood there like a plonker waiting for nobody to come.

Maybe he saw the car running and knew somebody would be home?

No it doesn't, you can hold it for a good hour or two. Then what should he do? If he !!!!es in the street he'll likely be reported. At some point he has to ask to use somebodies loo. So this point is a little irrelevant.

Perhaps he ,in all innocence, quite liked the lady and was about to ask her for a date....but then it got awkward.

Either way,,i would put it down to experience and keep my outer door locked.

Exactly. As a house caller yourself you will know how many poxy doorbells don't work and how irrating it is standing there unsure whether anybody is coming and if they are not is it because they are not home or because the bell is kapumpt!

So instead you also open the door and knock on the inside door. Which is what I imagine most people would do.

I am not a delivery person and often my need to enter is much more..ermm..imminent but the same principles apply.

This postie had no reason to be there. He did not have a letter or package.

But he knew somebody was home most likely, because of the running car.

If i were in his position..i would have looked out for a public place with toilets..i.e garage, supermarket ,whatever.

    Not always possible.

I doubt i'd knock on and ask a customer unless i had a specific need to knock and hand over a package,in which case,my request would form part of the normal exchange..

as you have seen here. there are folks who deem you a rapist if you set foot in their porch.
also, how accesable is your porch with a red bag on shoulder and a bundle of mail in hand?

Did you watch a scary DVD last night ? The Postman Always Rings Twice-perhaps ? ;)

    Honestly I think you're over-reacting.

Most postmen were working longer hours before Christmas so the odds of getting "caught short" are greater.
Do you live in a residential area with no "facilities" within easy walking distance ? I'm assuming so.
You were obviously up and dressed as your car was running so you were the obvious house to ask at rather than one with no sign of life.
There was no risk as your boyfriend was there
He is your regular postman not a stranger
Postmen ARE security checked by RM

I think especially as your boyfriend was there so there was no risk of letting a man into your house when you were alone-it was just plain unkind not to let him use your loo. Yes you didn't need to -especially at the time of good will to all men but it would have being the decent and humane thing to do.
(Not going near the racist issue-I'm assuming if the postman was white you'd have acted exactly the same-I'd be more concerned about having a racist BF around though especially with a child in the home)

So no I don't think you should complain . I think most postmen work damn hard before Christmas and a bit of consideration for them wouldn't have hurt you.
