  • I must be getting old. My favourite bargains today were a hardback home diary with lots of useful recipes and homemaking tips in it (£8 down to £2) and a couple of Union Jack mugs (to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee) down from £3.50 to 87p!!:rotfl::rotfl:

    Anyone been into Cardiff?

Went into the main Boots on Queen's Street at around 9:30am this morning, there was quite a lot of stuff, and more being put out by staff when I was there.

    Some things I saw:
Toys (Tomy, Cars, In the Night Garden, Teddy Bears)
Lots of beauty gift sets (Santuary, Gok, Botanics, White Collection)
Food Gift Sets (Nandos, Gu, Boots own stuff)
    Men's gift sets (FCUK)
    Christmas Cards

It was very busy when I was there

Went to tunbridge wells today at SHarp 8:00. There were only 5-6 women waiting outside for store opening. THe store was full with the stuff. All kids. Sancuatory, Dove, FCUK, S&G, Strickly, Ted baker, no7, front cover, evrything really. But they had removed all the toys and those shelves were empty. It was my first boots 75% and reading through the horor stories in the forum i was a little apprehensive. But everyone behaved. Took me one hour to shop. As i went around all the aisles 3-4 times just to see have if i have missed anything that i wanted. I was after FRONTCOVER things which i got. Some Mini fragnance sets as they are very handy to keep in your bag all the time and were only costing £4.50 i think.
Anyways all in all very pleasant experience. I forgot my advantage card. I know can take the points later but not sure if i'll be able to use my other voucher (£3.50 worth of points on £35 shopping). Anyone know if its possible? ALthough i have worked for boots in the past but am a bit unsure about this one.

Ok Ok I caved and went back to Speke this afternoon !:rotfl:Knew I couldn't stay away. It was still v busy but nowhere near the scrummage of this morning

Picked up a few bits - mostly teachers' pressies and gift tags / Christmas cards - but in all honesty there was nothing I would be happy giving as a gift to my friends or family.

    They still had:
Lots and lots and LOTS of those Carousel sets
Lots and lots and lots and LOTS of Project D stuff
Quite a lot of the Hello Kitty stuff
Quite a lot of Wallace & Gromit washbags and alarm clocks
Quite a lot of the GU chocolate things
And there are a number of other things that were there in abundance but nothing that took my attention, hence I don't remember what they were! :D

I still managed to spend about £20 worth of points but nothing to write home about, no No 7, no S&G, no FCUK, no mens sets, no Dove, basically nothing that anyone really wants. Perhaps if I'd stuck it out this morning I'd have found something, but I just weren't in the mood!! :D I think they are going to have quite a bit left by the time they come to 90% off at this rate!
  • Just been, loads of various discounted "stuff" still left and they seem to be stocking up the shelves as they go. I couldn't find anything that I wanted/needed; left empty handed... :(

:rotfl:Well my morning was fun!! About 20 or so outside my local at opening time. Heard a 'click' as the SA undid the door lock and I swear a couple of people must have mistaken it for the starting gun for a race the speed they ran past her at!! Most people just walked in normally though but everyone headed straight for the sale aisles. :rotfl: On the whole, although it was pretty busy pretty quickly (and there are two entrances to the Boots I went to so more people drifted in once the doors were open) it was all quite civilised, lots of excuse me's and sorrys and no sweeping items off of the shelves, and everyone was being quite cheery and joking about the madness of it all.

I got what I went for, and a bit more :o (oops!) but I did put some things back before I went to the tills so I think really I was quite restrained!
  • Landed at Kingston Park for 8am...spent £46 on perfume gift sets, No7, Sanctuary, front cover etc. On to Gosforth at 8.40 and missed out on the only thing I really wanted - one of the hat boxes - because of the flaming traffic, but still spent £19.00 on Champneys and So? perfume. I then went to Eldon Square for 9.30 after saying I wouldnt and was surprised that they still had loads of stock so spent another £15 and my 6.00 points on Natural Collection, S&G for men and some other bits!

Had to laugh at KP though. There were about 8 of us and when the door opened we just strolled in ....apart from the hardcore shopper amongst us who ran down the aisle towards the sale, brandishing........a blue ikea bag! :rotfl:
