Perhaps because we don't have to work ridiculously hard to get either food or access to extra money? 100 years ago people worked to get their food/trade for it so they probably appreciated it more and didn't overeat. And there were no credit cards or emergency loans so if they didn't have money they ate loss... helping both problems at once!!!6k in 2012: £4200.00/£6000.00

Ha ha! I am, I really am!I'm going to try to avoid CC abuse but I think I'll have no option.
I'm not sure it counts as abuse if you need to use it and have a plan to pay back.Mmh, I wonder why we all overeat and overspend? Is it a joy of life or a self abusive kinda thing? I'm not that good at deep!!!
For me, it's like clutter - about creating a wall between me and whatever might encroach on / threaten me. The trouble is it can be so effective that it does the job and then I (or whoever) gets isolated and can't get out of it easily.
I think it's also about endorphins (have I got the right word?) but apparently these are also released by exercise so really I can't use the need for endorphins as an excuse.
Good day today: the £100 for our new account has landed, plus £4.90 saved on yesterday's shopping and £1.30 saved today. That's a new record for me folks and is likely to be an all-time high so I'm going to enjoy it!
Hope you're all doing amazingly. I wonder how much we've lost / saved between us?

I'm up to £1000 saved but the weight loss is just awful. It's starting to make me question:
What is more important, savings or happiness?
I am miserable the size I am, it's stopping me going out, wearing the clothes I want, meeting new people. Yet I have enough money to invest in a personal trainer or something equally drastic like a boot camp. Obviously motivation is the major problem, but I need to kickstart it.
What do you all think?
I go to a bootcamp 3 times a week before work and have done since August. I actually now enjoy it and its not quite as drastic as you might think. The first week was tough and I felt really achy but that soon goes. I now find it sets me up for the day and actually gives me more energy.
In the early days of going I lost 23lbs. To date I have only managed to lose another 1/2lb, but I have maintained my weight loss even when I eat what I like. This makes me mad at myself though as if I was good food wise more often I wouldn't have stayed at the same weight for 3 months! That said I have lost loads of inches and even though I'm still over weight I am much more toned and have a degree of muscle definition and I feel much more healthy.
Our instructer doesn't bully us but she works us hard. Our class is 6 in the morning for 45 minutes then just enough time to get home and quick shower before work. I find that because I am meeting others it gives me the motivation to get up and go. If I was getting up to go downstairs to workout on the Wii by myself, I wouldn't have the same motivation and would be more likely to turn over and go to sleep!
Give it a go, I bet you will enjoy it.DFW Nerd 1394.

Stayed the same again this week weight wise. So a 1/2 lb total weight loss in 3 months, pretty dismal.:p
Moneywise another £20.00 making my total £887.20/£2000.
I have just found out I am to recieve £750 missold PPI insurance refund, but I won't count it until it is in the bank.DFW Nerd 1394.

Thanks Frodobaggins, that's the kind of thing I need to hear to spur me on to do the same. I think exercise classes are the way forward because the presence of other people will shame me into carrying on for the entire hour!

Another £112.80 to add that I managed to rifle from OH's wages. This makes my total a nice rounded out £1000/£2000, half way there!DFW Nerd 1394.

also I got paid today and thought I was I was getting paid more than I was but they haven't paid me for a Sunday (about £150), the woman at wages proper lied to me and said that they hadn't got the paper work in on time!! and o/h is 'borrowing' the rest of my wages cause he's getting- hopefully- a new job working away next week and needs my wage to pay for digs etc....so I wanted to pay £1000 of my loan and instead I'm paying £0 boo!!! but 2lb weight loss!!!get rid of all the pounds by summer !!

Oh well, at weigh in last night I'd gained a pound again, so am now above my starting weight by 1lb.
On the positive side I've banked some money from amazon and ebay sales plus a £10 win on the lottery so now have a healthy balance of £669.83
I will definitely try to lose some weight for next week but haven't really felt much like making the effort recently, hopefully that will change this week. I can only hope.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0 -
Lamarsi well done on that 2 Llb and your signature is amazing - well done on clearing all that debt girl:T:TWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0
