  • well done, mr B. Must have taken you ages.
IM definitely doing this. Im not sure about the 2 grand, will definitely save as much as i can, but am absolutely in for the 2 stone.

I have only had yoghurt and cereal, a stir fry today and am not sure what to have for dinner.
    I am following weightwatchers

I know you're not meant to do this though really are you?

Isnt the golden rule to weigh yourself once a week? surely every morning isn't accurate is it?

  • Evening all.

@Kittikins - there is no compulsion on your part to put your weight down on the list. If you want to leave it off then please feel free to. Or you might want to list it as Xstone 5. with your target being X-2stone 5. The last thing I want this thread doing is stressing people out or forcing them to divulge stuff they don't want to.

As for weighing in - this ain't Weight Watchers. You weigh in as and when and if you want - again, please don't feel obliged to.

All I'm doing for the lists is scouring each post and filling in the data where people have mentioned stuff, this just makes it easier for everyone involved (I hope) and is my small part in paying back in kind the amount of support I have been given since I landed in MSEland back in August.

Right, onto the main point of all this. For the first time in days, the money count will go up, a whole lot of ebay listings have ended / are ending today - too early to put a final price on it but I should be looking at around 70quid profit being banked. Although I don't have much emotional attachment to my record collection anymore, I can't help but be pleased that two of my major collections of the works of the criminally underrated Wolfhounds and McCarthy, have been sold to the same bidder in France - it's nice to think that some of the collection is staying together. No run today because with military precision (quite easy in the Bloater house as we both had fathers in the military) we organised Christmas to come down and return to the loft, some material from the shed to go to the loft, and some material from the loft to go to the shed. It sounds as little fun as it was, but as Mrs B is currently trying to convince me of the wisdom of the Buddhist way of doing things (I certainly have the figure for it) I did indeed enjoy the moment as the fibre glass insulation irritated my skin and inhibited my breathing, as the folly of wearing slippers (which did exactly as their name suggested) on a stepladder while holding a giant Christmas tree, and the utter joy at the end of proceedings when I realised I could not shut my shed door due to the amount of extras now in there. I just had to hug the shed. And then lob the stepladder in over the top and slam the door shut.

These extras are however relevant, whilst some kind folk suggested that myself and Mrs B could split the 2 grand for our challenge, I am vehemently against that - and to this end I will be setting her up with her own eBay account and listing some of the stuff we plucked from the loft - all good quality baby stuff that we'll either have as collection only, or else make a fortune on the postage.

Am taking DD to the library tomorrow and on the way we are going to stop off at the charity shop, I don't know why, but I have a very strong feeling I'm going to find something in there that's going to help me towards my £2000 goal. Just a reminder to you charity shoppers / carbooters, out there somewhere are hundreds of Sinclair ZX80s (not the more popular ZX81) which are worth serious money, and also out there somewhere are tens of Jupiter Aces (google it) - find one of those in working order and you are seriously minted.

Mr B - if you have baby stuff to sell, it's worth getting your wife to join the Netmums website if she hasn't already, as you can buy/sell things on there in your local area without having to pay fees like on Ebay. Baby things are obviously popular! There is also a wanted section so you can contact people directly if you have something they want. It's all collection only, so very little hassle - but you do need to sign up (free) so that the local boards are specific to your area.

Good luck! I love reading your posts and Mrs B's first post earlier made my day! x

Spooky MrB, I'd decided that as my stone figure will be scary, that I'm going to do the Xstone 5 or whatever lbs method, nice and semi-anonymous :)

DD and I are moving house soon and I have a ton of clothes to slim back into, but tonight as I'm home alone, I've gone through the majority of them and have a bin liner's worth to charity shop/ebay if they're worth anything. Just need to charge up my camera!

Mr B - I may have missed this somewhere along the way but are you going to update The Chart with fellow challengees numbers as they post them? I know on some of the other threads some clever person updates either on first post or as a new past evry few days - is this what will be happening here - just wondering. If your children are kitted out by Johnny Boden then their outgrown clothes go rerally well on Eb*y - and such items are well worth hunting out at boot fairs and charity shops - just thinking about Mrs B's Eb*y account :)

  • Chart update will be later than usual today folks, an evening that started off well with some fine whisky and healthy bidding wars on some more of my vinyl, took a rather more surreal turn at 3am as a poorly DS couldn't sleep and so I have been drifting in and out of Gruffalo / Toy Story induced hallucinations. Hence, at 5.58am I am now off to bed.

Ouch! Poor you/DS, hope the little scrap gets better soon x

Right, moment of truth, my starting weight is XXstone 13lbs, a bit less than I was anticipating, but I guess spending most of Christmas in bed feeling ill has had some benefits....shame I got back home yesterday and ate my body weight in rubbish food!
  • Can I join please need to do both

Is it too late to join Mr B? The guilt and shame has been steadily building over the last 3 pages. I am not ready to divulge my weight but plan to do the £2K 2 stone starting on 1 Jan. Time to face up to reality and get my !!! into gear. Hopefully the weight loss shouldn't be too bad as I am moving house soon out to the country where it will be an 8 mile round trip to the nearest shop to get chocolate and not a takeaway in sight. Here comes the poverty diet!
