(((Hugs))). I have huge sympathy for you, OP. You are understandably hurt and angry at the moment. I would not wait before lodging a formal complaint, if the ward staff think that this is acceptable behaviour then other families will suffer the same.

Totally agree with this. As much as there's maybe nothing medical they can do at such an advanced stage, they should be making sure each patient is comfortable and in as little pain as possible.

    So sorry for your loss.

I would advise contacting PALs as a first step in a formal complaint. When mum died they helped us a lot. We are now in a position where the hospital have admitted liability in causing mums death. We wouldn't have got this far without their help.

I know it's all raw and your emotions will be all over the place, but from what you described the way your poor dad has been treated is appalling. And the way they treated you after his passing is too appalling for words.

Feel free to PM me if you want any help.

Again huge condolences for your loss

Thankyou for all your support, I am just disgusted that an old man of 84 was left to die like this with no compassion from the hospital.

As others have said I'd be getting in touch with someone at the PCT regarding your father's treatment so that no other family has to go through the same and so you get some recognition that the care your father received was way below what is expected.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

    xx

I'm so sorry for your loss Merlin, and the appalling treatment that your father and you and your sister endured at the hands of the hospital.

I wish you all the best for the christmas season, and onwards also. And I hope that you receive a satisfactory response from the hospital when you complain, so that no one else has to endure that.

I can't offer you any advice regarding the hospital, but wanted to offer you and your family my condolences.
