Morning all! At last the visitors have gone and the house is a bombsite but its mine again!
I got myself all presentable yesterday to go out and then they decided that their colds were too bad and stayed in all day - I was the most dolled up dog walker in the park at least!
After putting the house back in order again I'm going to have a nice bath in peace and do a face scrub and use my nice shampoo and dry my hair properly. I will use the new antiwrinkle stuff but am not putting on make up today - I'm only mooching around the house and walking the dog and I think it does your skin good to have a day off (my excuse anyway!)
I will make some effort though by reading my new slimming magazine and planning the get thin effort - there are too many leftovers and nice things in the house to start right now but I can do some exercise to help combat the badness - long walk later and if I feel like it I may do an exercise video (30 day shred is good and only last 30 mins or so).
Right lets start with 30 mins hoovering and tidying to get the blood pumping......0 -
Good Morning all!!
Just a quick visit to say hello to everyone. I do admire the 'to do' lists, very organised and very helpful for ideas.
I've showered and slathered myself with cream. Now I'm letting my hair dry off a bit before styling it.
I'm wondering what to do about all the 'goodies' in the house too ww. DH said to me last night that he loves Christmas because you can eat lots of bad things! Then this morning he was complaining his waistline was expanding??? I have made sure I've bought in lots of goodies that are normally banned here;) like crisps, cake, choc biscuits, nuts etc I think I'm going to probably go with it until New Year and then back to healthy eating with a vengeance. That being said if we're at home this evening then it'll be turkey curry with a SW recipe.
Not sure what's happening with the rest of the day. I definitely won't stay in all day so it'll be a healthy walk or unhealthy (other than psychological) visit to friends and family.

Good Morning Ladies & A Very Big Warm Welcome to all the Newbies.
It's so lovely to see you all so energised and enthusiastic. You put me to shame. I've been so busy that my fabbing has been on the back burner for a day or two, still doing the basics of course;)
Today I'm all bathed and fragrant, and whilst not exactly a glamour queen, I'm neat and tidy.
Just a quick aside - I noticed that heebie-jeebie mentioned you weren't based in the UK. Where are you from - are there any other's from distant climes.
Has Frump to Fab gone global - How exciting.:T:T
I've loved reading all your posts, all your plans and routines. Some serious fabbing already and we've only just begun.
For those of us who got a bit bogged down with the Christmas Festivities and haven't really had the chance to make a start yet, fear not - plenty of time.
As Carmen so rightly puts it - This is a marathon, not a sprint.;)
So for the newbies
What is Frump to Fab all about and what do we do.
Well it started out about a year ago. I had spent 5 years caring for my seriously disabled husband and I was wrecked, physically, emotionally, mentally. My LBM was a photo my DS2 took of me. I was so horrified by what I saw I promptly burst into tears.
However, it was just the kick up the derriere I needed. I resolved right then and there that the rot stopped and from that day forward I would start to take better care of myself.
So bit by bit, I got my act together, just one little beauty treatment per day, improving my eating habits, getting a bit more rest and sleep, a bit of gentle exercise, dressing nicely each day. Just finding a few minutes each day - just for me - tweaking my daily routines to make my life a little easier a little better.
And it worked - I've lost a stone and half, I'm a bit fitter, I look better and I feel stronger. I've been able to cope with all the issues surrounding OH's illness, dealing with Social Services and finally sorting out a nursing home for permanent care. My darling will go into care in the New Year.
It's been a long, hard rocky road but I've come through. I seriously don't think I could have done it without Frump to Fab. It's been my lifeline.
I hope it helps you too.
I shall continue to split my posts so that hopefully anyone who wants to cut and paste anything for further reference i.e. recipes for beauty treatments etc will find it easier.

Hi LL,
Thanks for the welcome. I am actually British but live in Switzerland. I've been here for 3 years in January and am enjoying it mostly but we will move back home at some point. It's great to be somewhere different and the opportunity to visit different places is really good. It's very different to the UK though.
I work long hours and travel a lot so I may find this challenge difficult at times but I'm looking forward to the journey with you all.
I am not trying to lose weight but could do with eating a bit more healthily - although I'm with some of the other ladies in waiting until the end of Jan as we have some Xmas goodies in and its my birthday in Jan too. I'd also like to better understand skincare regimes as I've never had one! I use moisturiser occasionally but only when my face looks dry. I've tried different products before but find they dry my skin out.
ETA - LL, I'm sorry to read about your DH. You sound like a very strong lady and your family should be very proud of you.0 -
There's quite a bit of this on the old thread but basically my tip here is that if you are off work this week and you have a bit of spare time, it might be a good time to get organised.
Of course, how you plan it all will vary for all of you but if it helps here's a couple of things I've done to make my life a bit easier.
Always keep rubber gloves by the sink. Wear them for washing up and all those cleaning jobs. Protect your hands and nails from all those detergents which dry out the skin.
I keep a basket containing a few basics downstairs to make use of any spare moments, whilst watching TV is a good time for sneaky fabbing.
My basket contains a mini manicure kit, hand cream, moisturiser, lip balm, a comb, vaseline.
Another basket, kept upstairs, contains my hairdryer, and all my hair paraphernalia so that it is all easy and to hand when I need it.
You get the picture. It's all about keeping things handy and convenient so that you can make things easy for yourself.
Maman - made a very good suggestion for this week. If you have time - why not do a wardrobe audit. See what fits you, what goes with what, what needs washing, cleaning and repairing. BTW Maman - loved the sound of the Football Match Outfit - did it match your teams colours:rotfl: Did they do well. Derby fans aren't too happy with Nigel Clough apparently.
Would you like a new game.:rotfl:
Remember the Power of P.??
It occurred to me that there are 26 weeks between the Winter and Summer Solstice. There are also 26 letters of the alphabet. Spooky.
So here we go - a letter each week.0 -
Ok, here we go with Week A to use the 26 letters and week analogy
I made the changes very similar to you LL when I read your post it reminded me of the changes I made last year. It was a summer holiday photo that spurred my into action after a couple of months of not making that many changes to my eating habits. Anyway I did it and it worked. I'm now aiming for another 3-5lbs off over the next 2mths and then will reassess then.
Skincare and makeup wise - I have built it back into my daily routine of make up for work, slightly differnt look at the weekend if I'm going out and then a regular once or twice a week exfoliate and face mask. Hair wise have built in a 3 times a week hair mask and a weekly hair pre wash treatment too. I have also worked on using hair styling products
Wardrobe - trying to wear what's in the wardrobe before buying anything else and this is working ok now I've lost the stone and a half this year.
Finally, it's nice to be at this time of the year and not have to think about losing the stone like I've thought for every year for I don't know how long. Pretty good to feel like I've got there. Trying hard to stay on track now though over Christmas.
Actually lastly really - if I can do anyone can - just remember that!
Week A Plan
Hair pre - treat - done
Hair mask 2 or 3 times this week
Face mask and exfoliate - 2 times this week
Body exfoliate - once this week
Walk dog for an hour a day minimum

Sounds a bit Ambitious - so just a couple a day.
Appearance
Does our appearance matter. I think so. Now I know the old saying about not judging a book by looking at the cover, however, whether we like it or not, we live in an increasing "lookist" society and we are judged by your appearance. People do make judgements about us based on how we look.
So looking good isn't just about job interviews and trying to snag a hot date. It's also about how we present ourselves to the world and how others see us. It's about how the world responds to us and how people treat us.
If we look like a load of scruffy, down at heal bag ladies what does that tell the world. That we don't value ourselves, that we are nothing, not worthy of attention, that they can ignore us or treat us badly.
In short if we can't be bothered with us, why should anyone else.
Taking care of our appearance is good for us. It builds our self-esteem and boosts our confidence. If we look nice and well cared for people will respond to us in a positive way. Aren't we worth that.
It has nothing to do with whether or not we need to lose weight - it's about looking and feeling our best - just for us - we are soooooo worth it.:rotfl:
Aging
Of course it has it's downsides - but as my dear FIL is won't to say "It beats the alternative".
How we age is not merely down to genetic factors, it's also down to us, our lifestyles and habits. But you know this. :rotfl:
This is where Frump to Fab will help. The right lifestyle choices, good food, exercise, fun. It will all add up to a happier, healthier, longer life.
Poor lifestyle choices will not only shorten our lives, it will speed up the ageing, making us old and decrepit before our time. Not for me.
So stop worrying about getting older, it's just a number. Make the most of every day, change your thinking, stop panicking.
Whether you like it or not you will age - if you're lucky.

Bye for now x
Keep fabbing and have a lovely day.0
