I have been spoilt! I got home today to find a pile of parcels and pressies on my bed and I got a £10 Boots voucher among loads of other things. I did get quite a lot of chocolate and it all seems to be my fave...mini Lindt bears, Cadburys selection pack with Crunchie, buttons, fudge etc. and a massive box of Thorntons! I also got LOADS of crafty stuff from my secret santa and tomorrow I'm going to blog about it and put all the pics up. So now I have loads of 'stuff' lurking about trying to find a new home....hm.

I asked for cotton gloves to put on my hands at night after moisturising them and I'm going to use them for the first time tonight. I've cleansed my face using a solid bar from Lush that I bought 4(!!!) years ago so it's probably not meant to be used now but it does seem to clean my face. I have my new pyjamas on and I've taken my nail varnish off coz they've already chipped. I might do them again tomorrow if I get time.

Tomorrow I'm going up town to find something to spend my gift voucher on and to lurk round the charity shops for some super cheap gift sets and fab clothes. :D

    Good evening/good morning ladies.

I am going to have a very busy day tomorrow/today so as it is nearly Monday and we need to start the week with a fresh letter I thought I would get cracking now.

    Cholesterol

I know, it's depressing especially coming so soon after Blood Pressure, but again this has to be checked regularly. If you don't want to pester your GP Asda are currently doing a mini health check for £5 including a cholesterol check. Could be the best £5 you'll ever spend.

    Now for something more cheerful.

    Colour

These dark January days just scream out for colour, about our person and in our homes. You don't have to go the whole hog and dress from head to toe in bright acid colours - just a splash here and there. A scarf works wonders to a dark plain outfit, a pair of nice brightly coloured woollen gloves can be picked up for £1 or so.

Our faces need a bit of colour too, blusher or bronzer and in the winter your lipstick should be a warm shade too. Avoid lipsticks with a blue tinge. The "lilac" pinks, or the plum/burgandy reds all have a blue tone and your lips tend to go a bit blue when it's cold anyway so chose the warmer shades.

And of course our houses need colour. When you remove the Christmas decorations they can look so dull, a bunch of flowers won't break the bank, or a flowering houseplant which will last longer. Today I raided my garden and put little vases of flowers around. There is still quite a lot of colour in my garden, even my geraniums are still flowering.

    Curves

Embrace your curves. OK so you need to lose weight, but you can still celebrate your womanly shape. Don't try to be too thin, men really like a woman with curves - only misogynist fashion designers want women to look like stick insects. Don't hide away under baggy shapeless clothes.

    Cute

Cute is for children, not grown up women unless you want to look like some wannabe WAG or worse, a cheap hooker. (One could almost argue that the two are synonomous but I wouldn't be that mean). Leave the t-shirts with logos, embroidered sparkly jeans etc to the teens.
The look we should aim for is

    Chic

Well groomed, wearing good well cut clothes, made of good quality materials, accessorised with style and flair. A well cut and beautifully tailored dress or suit can take a stone off, whilst shapeless, baggy, oversized garments can easily add a stone. Skimpy, ill fitting garments in flimsy fabrics will always look creased and make you look untidy and ill kempt.

    Cosmetics

If diamonds are a girl's best friend then cosmetics must come a close run second. There's a little ditty

A little bit of powder, a little bit of paint
Makes a thing seem just what it aint

It's interesting when you see "Celebs" without their slap, the difference is so striking. Often they don't even look like the same person.

Make up can hide a multitude of sins and can turn the plainest of faces into a radiant beauty.

Make up is fun, you can experiment and change your look as often as you like.

I know some men wear make up, but essentially it is really a female preserve . We are much luckier than men, because by the judicial application of a bit of slap we can hide the ravages of time in a way they can't.

There has to be some advantages to being a woman.:rotfl: I think we should make the most of that advantage. ;)

    morning :)

fedupandskint well done on the weight loss and size 10!!

Well, speaking of weight loss, I had lost some weight last year, about a stone and a half. Just be walking more and eating less crap. Was convinced I'd put some on recently cos I'd been eating more over Xmas and with being off work wasn't walking etc, but turns out I didn't put on a lb.
I'd went from a 16 to a 12/14 depending on the shop (although a bigger size on top cos of my boobs!) which I'm happy with - I've an hourglass figure and am kinda tall for a girl so if I lost much more I'd be too thin.

Apparently the 'ideal' weight for my height is between 9stone and 11stone. I've been 9 stone years ago and looked ill. The top end of the scale is better for me. I'm 7lbs over the top end so could stand with losing that, which if I keep up the walking and healthy eating should happen, but I'm not desperate to lose weight or anything, just keep healthy. All in all, pretty pleased with myself :D

  • Morning All. Fabbing done today:
    Shower, body moisturise
Face - cleanse, facial Oil and moisturise
    Make-up on and hair done.
Was all set to go food shopping when I realised I have left my purse in OHs car and he is away at work now. Doh!

I have been following the Paul McKenna system and have lost 4lbs so really happy with that.

    Good morning ladies and lurkers,
    What a lovely morning :D
OCM completed when a friend phoned, 1 hour later :rotfl: now I need to go and finish my fabdom routine!!

    LL, loving the C's.
    Cholestrol --OKish
Colour-- I love wearing colourful clothes (especially cerise) suits my colouring. Christmas poinsetta and rose brightening up the sitting room.
Curves-- Being BIG upstairs, I am still finding the confidence to walk without arching my shoulders! I know I know, instead of hiding my boobs I just look like someone arching their shoulders :rotfl::rotfl:
Cute-- Hmmm those days are well behind me ;)
Chic-- That's what I am aiming for, thinks Sopia Loren.
Cosmetics-- Love my jewellery, less is more for my taste, maybe a little more for special occasions. My SiL is the opposite she wear all hers at the same time:eek:;) Still working on a renewed make up style, these days I don't wear foundation of any description just eye make up, lipstick and a little blusher in the winter. Some of you ladies use minerals cover, is it possible to just wear this alone? Can I just 'dust' it on and go, like a blusher? Just need to even my skin tone.

Yes LL, some of the celebs these days look very different without the help of cosmetics. I saw a poster of Charlize Theron (sp) advertising J'dore, with all the air brushing she looks nothing like she does on the TV ad, were I think she looks simply stunning.
Sorry the post is all me me :o I hope you are all doing well today.

OK I need to go and finish my !!!!!!!!!!! routine.
    Carmen xx

    PS. Up to post 21!

Finally managed to get my assignment finished and sent in but must admit not very happy with it. Am feeling a little unmotivated at the moment and am not sure why. Struggling to get back into a routine and have loads of things I want/need to do but not really getting any of them done. Anyway hope everyone else is doing better.

    Hi everyone

Not posted since the start of the year but have been lurking - you are all doing really well:T

Need to catch up a bit I think. Fab wise the start of the year has been a write off. A combination of bad cold/flu and preparing for a family party that I hosted and catered for on Sunday have taken all the available time and energy. So my new year starts here!

Today I need to sort out some healthy food and clear (not eat!)the fridge of leftovers (the teens will help though ;)). Will walk to the shops for fruit and veg and do some stretches. If I have time I will start going through my wardrobe on the hunt for forgotten items and new combinations for outfits. Planning to collapse in bath for pamper session this evening

    Have a good day everyone

Well, today is a new day! Up, dressed, showered, blow-dried and anointed with scented creams - just need to slap a bit of make up on and I'm good to go! Yesterday wasn't such a great day as I was missing DH so compensated by eating everything in sight, including half a pack of Cheddars which I don't even like.

Oh, well: What's done is done. Need to buy a new moisturiser this week, and I used to like a Lidl one called Iseree Q10 or something which came in a formula for sensitive skin, but they seem to have discontinued it:(. My fave is Elemis, but I just can't afford it. Any suggestions for a nice one for slightly dry sensitive skin which only costs £8 or so? Non pore-clogging and with a bit of UV protection ideally :)

Just a quickie - still trying to get SS paperwork in order for OH'c care manager. I'm finding it so stressful.

Willow - just wanted to wish you a very happy birthday. Are you still a teen or does it have a zero at the end. Have a lovely day.
