  • Morning all!

Rummer - what awful things for them to say to you. Stay positive chick, we're all here whenever you need a shoulder to cry on (and it sounds like you have a fab OH!).

Its my birthday on Friday and yesterday we went shopping and DH has bought me Move and some games for PS3 - I was looking at the Wii but he already has a PS3 - which is my birthday pressie. Had a play last night for half an hour or so and I can really feel it this morning! I'm going to try and do half an hour ish a day - it was fitness last night but I have a dance game too.

So far today, I've styled my hair, dressed nicely, put perfume on and moisturised. I'm waiting for a parcel and attempting to clean the house ready for visitors tomorrow so will put some music on I think and boogie around while cleaning!
My goal for last week was to sort out my nails - they're almost there. I have one that doesn't want to grow but the rest are getting there so want to shape and paint them later this week.

    Good Morning Ladies

It's a filthy stormy day and I have an absolute mountain of paperwork/telephone calls to make re SS and matters relating to OH going into care. So will need to get cracking today.

Have managed to book a physio appt for this afternoon - I definitely regard that as fabbing. Now that I no longer have to do all OH's transfers etc I am going to concentrate on getting my back sorted so that I can then start exercising again.

So the plan is to power through as much as I can this morning, physio this afternoon and then a nice rest this evening, whilst I do a bit of jewellery.

I've found that I'm not wearing many of my necklaces, beads etc because I struggle to fasten them sometimes. I've already done a trial with magnetic fastenings on a couple of necklaces so tonight will sit and convert some more.

Apparently there is some kind of fitness programme on C4 tonight - it looks a bit gimmicky but I might give it a trial.

Anyway have a good day everyone X

A few more "B's" and then I must get started .........(after a nice cup of coffee). Procrastinator - who moi?

My tip for the day for those of you who want to stop snacking in the evening (like me!) is to brush your teeth. It's not foolproof but it does make you less inclined to start munching when you have lovely shiny clean teeth. I bought a tooth whitening kit for xmas & started it last night. Used it about 8pm and then didn't feel like undoing all my work by eating chocolate!!!

It's pretty yucky here too LL. That feeling of being tucked away inside is so nice! No fabbing this morning as I have overslept by an hour and a half.

But last night I tackled the mending bag. In there are two brand new pairs of trousers, wool boot cut ones and smart wide-legged black trousers that I am ashamed to say I have had for more than 2 years! They only need taking up so I started the wooly ones last night. I also have 2 really cool T-shirts I bought this time last year. So my fabbing for this week will be to do a little more prep and sewing each night to get those new clothes into circulation.

I don't want to buy lots of new clothes until I am at my goal weight, so 5-6lbs to go. I thought I'd assemble a capsule wardrobe so am going to do all the prep work on that Jan - Mar, then when my next money comes in April I'll buy some new stuff properly. It will be my 30th so a good excuse!!

Have a great day ladies :)

    BUMS
We all have them, be they big or small. But, a way of feeling better is to wear pretty knickers and youll be happier (and if you get run over, your mum will be hapy you have clean non-manky ones on :D )

    Good one Elfen

    Body Beautiful

OK some of us need to lose weight. This doesn't stop us looking after our bodies in the meantime. No need to put it off, start now.

We can start to care for our skin, improve it's texture and tackle any problem areas whilst we lose weight. That way when we are ready for the big reveal our skin will be glowing.

    Body Brushing

A few minutes with a body brush will really wake up your body, it helps to exfoliate dead skin cells, speeds up cell renewal, and helps stimulate blood and lymph flow to cleanse the body of toxins and feed fresh nutrients to the skin.

Always brush in upward movements towards the heart, start at ankles and up to thighs, start at wrists and up to armpits.

It is really effective if done before bathing or showering.

    Body Mitts

Or as Carmen calls them - brillo pads.:rotfl:

Use them in the bath or shower. Soap them up and using circular motions wash the body. They are especially good for smoothing rough bumpy "goosey" areas such as the backs of the arms, tops of legs, buttocks. Also great for elbows, knees and feet.

    Back Brush

Unless you have some kind soul to give your back a good scrub then these are a boon, especially if your back is a bit oily and prone to spots.

    Body Oils

After all that scrubbing and scouring, pamper your skin with a lovely rich body oil.

Really nice ones are terribly expensive. You can make your own for a pittance.

All you need is some oil as a "carrier" and an essential oil.

I use Grapeseed Oil - 500ml £2 from Sainsburys - for the carrier oil.

Most chemists will sell a basic range of essential oils for about £5 - they last for ages provided you store them in the dark.

My favourite essential oils for body oils are bergamot - a nice light citrus oil, orange blossom, rose or sandalwood. Sandalwood is a bit more expensive and not many chemists stock it but you can get it online. If you like the smell, then lavender is great because it is also a muscle relaxant and helps with aches and pains.

60ml of carrier oil/15 drops of essential oil, store in a brown glass bottle if you can, helps it keep longer. Store in the dark.

You can use one oil or you can mix a couple together, just reducing the quantity of each oil, say 7/8 for two. 5/5/5 for three.

I tend to mix up smallish quantities so that I can use it up before it has chance to go off.

Mixing your own body oils is not only cheap but you are using natural products - no nasty chemicals to cross the skin barrier and enter the blood stream.

    Warning

If you have a nut allergy then I would advise you not to use Almond Oil as a carrier oil. Better safe than sorry.;)

    hi
what a terrible day here -raining cats and dogs and blowing a gale. will still be going out though dogs don't mind the rain! actually neither do i, the thought may be off putting but once i'm out there i'm fine -quite enjoy it actually.:D
LL- thanks for the idea. Unfortunately there's also a groomer in the area too. I do have other ideas so i won't give up just yet. It may be a slow process but i'm dtermined if not to have my own business at least to have a job in the not too distant future.:)

    Fabwise

    • had alovely soak
    • rubbed my aching shoulder
    • re-started glucosamine supplement
    • cleansed face
    • dermarolled
    • mositurised
Have also decided to write down everything i do in aday ( i thought i did very little) was asked by counsellor to do this and was told i had a varied and comprehensive amount of stuff in my diary. It did make me look at what i do and realise that i actually o acheive alot and its given me a different way to look at this. So for a couple of weeks i'm going to carry it on and also use the planner for meals, and see if it helps me remain positive.
Now i'm off for that walk.:D See you soon

  • Hi All
I decided to have a lie in this morning which is very unlike me but I have been feeling very tired. Was in bed early too last night. Today is definetly a day for staying in.

Plan for when I get off this couch:
    Body Brush
    Defuzz legs
    Face - cleanse, tone, moisturise
    Shower
    Moisturise full body
Organise an eyebrow wax at local salon - I am hopeless at doing them myself and the lovely lady who works there also refers clients up to me for remedial massage so I think it is only fair that I give her some business too.

It will be my 40th birthday in November and I have decided that I want to do something special for myself rather than my usual melting into the background and working around everyone else's plans (I do this even when it is my birthday!). Soo... I have a few ideas. Want to do it as frugally as posible but still something memorable. OH has taken some time off in the few days before my birthday so possibly we could have a short break somewhere. I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas folks.

Have a great fabbing day everyone.

    Hi Allie,

What sort of things do you like to do? Do you want to stay in the UK or go further afield? How long for? Is it just you and OH?

    Sorry for all the questions!

Biggest Loser is back on TV tonight too if anyone is interested. I watched it for the first time last year and found it quite good on the exercise side of things - can't comment on the actual diet though.
  • Lesson Learned - this is going to sound like a really daft question, but how do you use the oils that you make. Do you use it like moisturiser and wait for it to soak into your skin, or just use it in the shower and bath?

Sorry I really am a novice at most beauty treatments, lotions and potions except for the very basics. :o

Hi heebie-jeebies, would probably stay in the uk. It would need to be a short break for 3 nights max due to OHs time off. Yes, it would probably just be for the two of us. I prefer to be in the country rather than a city break and like to swim, walk, wander in some local shops or farmers market, read books and generally chill out when on holiday.

Thanks for the tip re biggest loser -I find it quite inspiring to watch. Is it a new season or a repeat?
