Thanks Sezzagirl. My older son is at senior school too, and my younger son (the one i am walking to and from school) is already in year 3. Time flies so quickly doesnt it!!
I bought him a new scooter for Christmas, so he cant wait to start walking instead of going by car! Its only a 10min walk, but walking there and back is 40mins of exercise that i wouldnt be getting otherwise!0 -
I've done two days of ruthless sorting out and decluttering, I'm absolutely shattered and feeling great for doing so! Can't believe how much stuff I keep that is unecessary. Whilst on the ball sorted through kitchen cupboards too. 3 loads of washing done, bed changed and house sparkling!
I did manage to fit some me time in after too! Nice long shower with hair mask and exfoliating. Serum/nose pore strip/moisturise, mini manicure and sorted all my things for work tomorrow!
Feeling really good and ready for tomorrow!
Worn out now so hand cream on and bed time

Have just decided to join in with the £12K in 2012 money challenge. Hopefully this will help me focus so that I can improve my finances.
I even managed to work out how to do a "signature".:T
I will make a real effort to get to grips with technology this year. Time to stop being such a Luddite.:o
Hope you've all had a good day - am shattered now, so off to bed.
G'night all
PS Lizzie - your idea of dog walking sounds interesting. However, if you are struggling to get it going and there is already a lot of competition in your area, how about adding dog grooming to the mix. You could start in a small way - from home I should think. I don't think you would have to have special commercial premises to begin with, because it is not a business that relies on "passing trade".
There is a lady in our village and she opened up a small dog grooming parlour several years ago. She started very small and kept it quite low key, gradually building up and adding "doggie accessories".
She has been there well over 10 years now and has a thriving business - no competition either, whereas dog walking just wouldn't take off in this area. It's a very small unit and several business have tried and failed there but she obviously found just the right niche business for that location.
You would probably need to do a course for this but I'm sure the DWP will advise you on this, re benefits, tax credits, training allowances etc.
Just thought I'd toss that into the ring.0 -
Hi all......well loads of stuff going on around here...dieting, decluttering, list-making, excercising, and loads more....phew, I'm quite exhausted by the whirlwind of activity...but you're ALL doing great!!!
Came across this article today, and thought it quite pertinent to the start of our mission, and very nicely put:-

:grouphug:this is for you rummer. Well done for turning those nasty remarks into a positive!prepareathome wrote: »I have taken the plunge and found out where my local SW is held and its tomorrow which in a way is great as no time to think why bother as there is a class tomorrow morning at 9.15 and one at 6pm both in village. I know its not very OS but I feel even if I just go for a while to get me into healthy and correct eating again ( I went for a few months about 3 years ago and found the support very helpful and I lost weight but gained it back and more).
Welcome preparethehome. As others know, I'm an absolute convert to SW, it's fantastic!! I'm at target now (or I was before Christmas:o) and I find the fact that it's not a diet but a healthy eating programme where you're never hungry is amazing!! There's a good thread on here for SW support, you should think about joining it.Update fabbingwise! I used one of those strips you put over your nose to unclog the pores (and nearly pulled half my face off!).
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:BUMS
We all have them, be they big or small. But, a way of feeling better is to wear pretty knickers and youll be happier (and if you get run over, your mum will be happy you have clean non-manky ones on)
that reminds me that when I declutter my underwear drawer lots of mine need to be binned. They're too scruffy to be floor cloths even!:o
I've had a very good day today:- on the house front I've done a load of washing and ironing plus taken decs down in hall and dining room and thoroughly cleaned both rooms
- for the health and beauty, made up my face and been out for lovely walk with DH including an impromptu lunch in a lovely coffee shop we found. Stuck to healthy eating all day (with tiny exception of a few cubes of cheese and a square of chocolate).
Onwards and upwards.:D0 -
Hello ladies
I have just found this thread - what a wonderful support to each other you all are - and I would love to join in. I will be hitting the big 50 in the spring and want so much to be fab!
My new year's resolution this year is to have 'nil by mouth' except for water (probably tepid water) after 6.oopm. I hope that this will help the weight loss kick in without stressing too much about 'being on a diet'. It will also help me to sleep better - which I believe helps in the fight to lose weight, besides giving you more positive energy to approach the new day. (It's also aimed at reducing the heartburn I get in the evenings due to the hiatus hernia.) It sounds so simple but old habits die hard don't they, so wish me luck.
Before Christmas I actually went ice skating for the first time in more years than I care to remember with DD - great for exercise and a little bonding session too! Hoping to make it a regular thing this year.
Anyways, will try to check in often and try out all your hints and tips to beat the frump and reveal the fab.0 -
Hey everyone, great to be part of such a vibrant thread, and looks like everyone is doing well. I was very unfab for half the day as I woke up at 1pm!!!
had to clean and prepare some food for visitors coming at 3pm...felt very lazy and naughty! Managed to shower, and cleanse face while in the shower and used a pumice stone on my feet.
Have cleansed again before bed, and creamed hand and feet...not bad!
Will be dyeing my hair tomorrow morning if enough time, or evening if not, and may even put some nail polish on...because i am worth it!
Have been on fire since recent massive house declutter, and pretty much up to date with ironing, washing etc (spent 2 hours ironing today watching wife swap on channel 4OD).
If i can keep the house looking good, surely I can do the same for myself???0 -
Morning everyone:wave: Didn't have too much time for fabbing over the last couple of days as had friends staying. Did manage to pluck my eyebrows and paint my nails last night so feeling more 'groomed'.
Off now to shower and get ready for work. Set the alarm a little bit earlier so I have more time to do my makeup. (My central heating boiler has just made the strangest noise  so hope it's not going to go wrong!).0 -
Morning everyone
Rummer - sorry about those nasty comments, sometimes I wonder if people realise how hurtful their words can be.
I have had a decent day of fabbing. I showered, moisturised all over, clean, toned and moisturised my face and made a start on my economics course.
I haven't left the house today, so im just in sweats with no make-up on, but feel really pleased that i have finally opened my text book up. :j:j:j
Have a good day everyone0 -
morning all. Haven't been on over the weekend as I was a) very hungover and b) enjoying being away from a computer for a few days!
Went out on NYE with my fianc! and a few friends and had a blast. Wore a new dress (went for sparkly goth type look) and danced the night away. Suffered the next day mind! I had what I call the 'booze blues'. Sometimes the next day I don't feel hungover as in sick or sore head, but I feel very sore all over, down in the dumps and 'small' if you get me. A bit woe is me, no one loves me, blah blah. Not as bad as sometimes and cheered myself up by snuggling up and watching DVD's with the OH.
We went into town yesterday to get some stuff for our wedding invites (of course one of the shops was closed) and I went into Superdrug for more clear nail polish. Also got more black, which I needed and one of those Barry M crackle nail polishes in gold - so I put on black nail polish yesterday then this gold crackle over it. I have to say it looks amazing - almost leopard print! They also gave me a free new special effects nail polish which is purple but uber shiny - they have an offer on where you spend over £6 on other nail polish and get this one free. I know it was on in Superdrug but not sure about elsewhere.carpe diem
