Today is virtually a write off and I'm spitting feathers because they make me feel like a worthless scrounger.
I, too, feel your pain; both from my own dealings with them, and from when Mr LW was unemployed for 11 months. Wolfy strength vibes coming your way, to help deal with the burocracy. (sp?)

Hugs LL - I know exactly how you feel as regards the DWP.

I only write to them now and send it in a recorded/ special delivery so I know I have proof. I find it much less stressful. I am actually phone phobic though so that is my only way of communicating with officialdom.
*Nods* Same here; if anything has to be done by phone, Mr LW has to deal with it for me - I can't even stay in the room when someone's using a phone.

Eurgh, I feel crappy and really can't get motivated. Any tips on where to start when you feel like this? :o
Hi; sorry to hear your feeling crappy. Tell you what - I've done 20 mins Wii Fit already today, but I'm going to do another 15 mins at 15:30 - how about you get up and do 15 mins gentle exercise with me?:o (Assuming you're currently somewhere where you can do this, of course).;)

Just going to scrub to loo (on todays' Flylady list) then I'll be doing the afrementioned 15 mins Wii Fit.;)

Have finally managed to chat up on all the posts since went away for new year!! Has taken several cups of tea to get through them all but feeling all inspired now :)

    My aims for 2012 are:

    • To loose 3 stone (1 1/2 by the summer solstice)
    • Make the most of my reduced price gym membership at work
    • Work out how to use the fitness trainer on the wii
    • Do the couch to 5k challenge with the aim of building up to do a 10k in December
    • Go through all the lovely smellies that have been building up in my bathroom over the last few years and actually start using them!
    • Have Sunday nights as my bath and pamper night :D
    • De-clutter wardrode
    • Try and get the house to a state where I'm not embarressed about it when people call round :o

Have got this week off so going to try and make the most of it and give myself a bit of a pamper before I head back to work :)

Hope everyone is managing to have a fabby day and isn't getting to windswept :p

    Hi all,

Amazed how fast this thread is speeding along at the moment, is rather hard to keep up with it but am loving all the plans and positivity. For those who mentioned they wanted to meet new people/make new friends - that was my plan last year. I had been in a new city for about a year and very few people and didn't really have anyone I could ring up to go out for a coffee or a drink or something with. I was sat there feeling rather sorry for myself until I asked myself - was I expecting new friends to come and knock on my door? If I wanted to meet people I had to put myself out there more. So I joined all types of groups/clubs - choir, film group, cinema club, dining club, book group, meetup group, answered ads on gumtree etc. Now I'm not a particularly confident person so it wasn't easy for me, I remember for one meetup I walked past the place five times trying to work up the courage to go in, but I was determined that I wanted things to change. Now some of the groups were great and I still go to them now, some weren't so great and I only went once, some petered out after a bit - but it was all experiences and although I still get nervous doing things like today I tell myself that if I've done it before I have no excuse now. Oh and to the person (sorry can't remember how now) who said they struggled to think of something after the 'ice-breaker' most people tend to be happy if you show an interest in them so ask them about themselves. I actually find other people really interesting so when they start talking about themselves it's usually quite easy to ask questions or add your similar experiences. Sorry, bit of an essay there, hope it might help someone though.

Lizzie - the dog walking plan sounds good, are there maybe any animal rescues or kennels nearby where you could get some experience, they might even recommend you if they get to know you a bit.

Savvy - am very impressed with the decluttering, I drastically need to do my whole house but need some motivation to do it! I have things still in boxes from when we moved in over 2 years ago :o

LL - agree that DWP are completely useless, every time we have had to deal with them have had nothing but trouble and don't think they have ever got anything right first time (or even second!). We tend to always have unusual circumstances when we go to them as well and they really don't seem able to cope with it! Think we both need to work on the money making plans then can tell them to go stick it :)

Bratz - I quite fancy trying the crackle nail polishes, might have a nosy in Superdrug at weekend :) When is the wedding, how exciting!

Allie - agree that maybe one of the fancy country house hotels would be nice, ideally you'd want somewhere with a few things to do inside in case our lovely November weather puts a dampen on the walking etc. The lakes are lovely or maybe somewhere like York where it's a lovely historic town with lots to do but with nice walks and countryside basically on the doorstep.

Fanny - I must admit I do get that way quite a bit and I do find that literally forcing myself to do something, no matter how small, helps me to feel a little better and a bit more motivated to do something else after it. Failing that doing something nice for yourself, read a good book, have a bubble bath etc can brighten things a little.

To everyone else, sending you positive vibes and hugs if needed.

Anyway, been a rather miserable day here as well. Nipped out on a few errands when the rain stopped but still cold and the wind is rather nasty. Trying to keep up with the healthy eating and walked everywhere today. Feeling a little annoyed as I finally got round to getting myself a digital scale - my old one was rather temperamental and I was fairly sure it was weighing at a little under but apparently it is nearly 3 stone out!!! Bit depressing to find I'm so much more then I thought I was - only comfort is that I didn't have this scale six months ago before I lost 3 stone or I'd probably have been slitting my wrists :o Ah well, at least I should be able to see what I'm (hopefully) losing now. Forced myself to start my OU assignment but not feeling very motivated to do it and would much rather be doing the book. Was trying to work it out and have done about 20k words in 5 weeks - now some people have said that's fast but it's only about a quarter of the way through so would take me another 15 weeks and then rewriting/editing etc. Need to write faster :rotfl:Anyway means I need to look at other money making methods while my 'best-selling author' plan is still in the pipeline.

[*] Do the couch to 5k challenge with the aim of building up to do a 10k in December

i ran the great manchester run (10km) two years in a row from doing no running at all. I'm thinking of doing a triathlon this year, two 10km races have shown me i don't do long distances, i got bored of it at about the 5km mark.

take it really slowly at first if you aren't used to running and don't worry if you have to do run/walk for a few sessions. you are better off doing run/walk than going all for it and hurting yourself or putting yourself off before you've even started.

also, make sure you have proper shoes. don't just use any old trainers, especially when you start doing a few miles in one go. go somewhere that measures your gait and get proper shoes fitted. it costs more but it will stop you getting injured because of the way you naturally run. i have a problem with my hip that usually kicks in dead on 2km and i know it'd be much worse if i didn't have proper shoes on.

    Hi all!
Had a nice bath this afternoon, washed my hair, moisturised my hands and body, put perfume on.
Tonight i am going to give myself a pedicure and then paint my toe nails. I have heard of people putting moisturiser on their feet, then putting socks on overnight whilst they sleep, in order to get lovely soft feet. Does anyone know if it works?

It is certainly making me feel a bit better as well.
  • Thank you so much for all your suggestions ladies, I've still done nothing but I think I'll have a nice bath later, do my nails and make an effort in the morning for the first school run of the year! I think I'll feel better when we're back to our normal routine.

I'm sorry I missed your Wii suggestion LameWolf, I've decided though that I'll try out my new Wii game later - aMichael Jackson Dance one, I'm an awful dancer but it should be a laugh!

    Hi all!

Sat at my desk with my hand cream and bottle of water at my side! Ive also got a notebook to jot down any fabbing ideas that spring to mind and also things I can sell on eBay!

Looking forward to going home to a clean and clutter free house! Might fit 30 mins pamper time in too and finally use the body brush I bought with good intentions and still haven't used!

    Have a nice evening all

Well had a nice shower then actually moisturised all over, normally I just throw on towelling robe and wait till I am dry. Then did face and just about to put some make up on just mascarra and lipstick nothing flashy and dress up nicely but warmly as cold out there, better move as got to be at SW for 6 and 5.25pm now but only in village so takes 5 mins to get there, will most likely take me longer to walk from Mr S car park to the pub where its held.

    Hope everyone is feeling good
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

:o No worries - have fun with the MJ game! I love my Wii Fit - as I'm disabled, I don't like the idea of a gym (and everyone laughing at the cripple) so doing something in the privacy of my own home is great. And no-one to see me on the frequent occasions I fall over!:rotfl:

    I Have An Announcement.... *fanfare*
Finally...... The Wolf's legs have been defuzzed!!:T:T:T
Is it just me, or does anyone else loathe this task? I kid you not, I'd sooner scrub the loo than defuzz my legs!
