hi
Thanks for all the good wishes for my dad they are appreciated.
LL - I do feel very blessed with the family I have, we're not very big, hubby being an only child and my only brother being in the forces and can't always drop things to be with us. I also have some amazing friends as I found out yesterday. As word got round I was having texts and offers to help out with the children. I love them all.
Not heard anything yet today about dad, hope that mum is catching up on some sleep. I will ring later. Have to watch out for mum as well as she doesn't eat much at the best of times and shes like a stick, (I defo don't take after her lol).
I have decided that I shall tackle this elephant one bite at a time I need to be fit and healthy I really don't want to end up like my dad.
Will let you know how dad is later on.

Morning all!
I'm a very glamorous snotty, sniffly, sneezing mess this morning - hopefully the antihistamines will kick in soon.
Just weighed and have lost 1lb this week - very measly! I'm hoping that the exercise has built muscle:o - I do feel a bit thinner though, perhaps my shape has changed a bit instead? If I'm honest, food could have been better so I know where to improve.
Not a lot planned for today - just the usual chores (cleaning, food shopping, exercise, dog walking) and some schoolwork to get a little bit ahead of myself. The dreaded lesson observations are coming up soon and I need everything to be perfect for them.
If I get really bored later I might go to watch Red Light at the cinema to break up the day. It had an ok review on the radio yesterday and at least isn't a sci-fi or superhero movie.
Right, better get the first dog walk done before it starts raining again.....0 -

Have a great holiday Mooloo.
Love the "I Will" mantra - just goes to show the power of NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming - very potent magic.!!!
Thanks LL.
Thanks also for the well wishes. I am not very good at remembering who says what by the time I get to the end of reading!. I must try harder. Names are a thing that really do get to me, in real life as well as on here!. My concentration is obviously not as good as I thought.
I will, go forward with my head held high, and my smile on my face. I will have a good holiday, and I will put the problems with the EXBF and the twins to the back of my mind for a while.
Time for my shower and a bit of a pampering before I start on the packing. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi folks,
This morning I had some bicycling exercise and managed to come home a longer route. This was a challenge and a change. Also, pleased to clear part of the garden where the birds visit for food. These things do make me feel much better but once indoors, things become a lot harder mood-wise. Consequently, must keep trying to discover "fab" moments for time indoors.
lessonlearned - thanks for your comments which I have thought about a great deal today.0 -
I'm pleased to report that I have just returned home from picking my dad up from hospital. They changed his medication 2 weeks ago, so they think thats whats caused the heart attack, so they have put him back on the original tablets.
He's very pleased to be home and so are we.
Postponed 70th Party is now next sunday, so hope the weather improves.
Thanks for al the good wishes.Chiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor

Not too much to report today apart from 40mins yoga done, 2 normal dog walks and the usual stepper routine with slightly heavier weights which are fine
Very grey overcast skies and on and off rain - where's the summer?

Hewie - glad to hear that your Dad is home - that must be such a relief.
Re yourself and your plans to really start taking care of yourself health wise. I'm sorry I cannot remember how old you are but if you over 40 many GP surgeries now offer free health checks - i.e. cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin levels, as well as the usual "female" stuff.
Given your Dad's history of heart attacks I'm sure your GP will be happy to oblige - even if you are under 40.
If not then - apart from changing your GP - most chemists offer basic health screening now. There is a small fee but I do think it's well worth it.
My Dad had his first heart attack at aged 55 and a number of aunts and uncles on his side of the family went the same way. My mum and her Mum both developed late onset diabetes so I could have the potential of a double whammy, therefore I've made a point of getting tested regularly - so far so good.:D
My GP is more than happy to oblige - so I get it all done for free.
As a result of the tests I've had I made a few lifestyle changes and have been successful at lowering my cholesterol levels and so far, my sugar levels are fine. All done just by tweaking my diet and trying to get a bit more exercise. I've not needed any meds to get things under control.
I think most forward looking GP practices are now well in favour of health screening and preventative medicine so I think this is something that we should all look at.
Prevention is better than cure and these days we now know enough not to have to leave it to chance.;)
Just back from visiting OH. It was Bingo afternoon.
Had a good chat with the activities co-ordinator and she admitted that she thinks OH gets bored and frustrated at times. She acknowledges that he is highly intelligent and that often the activities on offer don't really stimulate him enough. I'm sure if I brought him home he would have more mental stimulation. It's just the physical nursing, lifting etc that poses the problems.
Anyway I've booked a viewing of the large 5 bedroomed 2 bathroomed bungalow for Monday afternoon. I think that the property itself should meet with the practicalities required for our living arrangements i.e. easy access, downstairs shower room etc. It's just whether or not the funding will be enough for a suitable care package and whether they will provide better lifting equipment this time round.
Only time will tell.
Going to have a very naughty creamy curry tonight, - why not - it's too blimmin cold for salad and rabbit food.:rotfl:0 -
LL I know what you mean about it being too cold for salad - the sky is black and its lashing down! I've just made a big lentil dahl and rice for tea with enough for 2 lunches at work. That will stop me eating rubbish or bread, that I'm not that keen on but its convenient and easy - I'm sure bread bloats me too so best avoided if possible.
Been to see Red Lights with Sigourney Weaver and Robert De Niro - very good, a different story with a twist at the end. I won't give it away but its about exposing psychic frauds - original at least. Was all brave and went by myself - getting quite used to it now.:)
Taken the dog out 3 times today and managed the chores and a bit of schoolwork so quite a productive day. There's absolutely nothing on the telly tonight - even on all 300ish channels.....rubbish. Will have a bath and read my library book (back on Ian Rankin) instead.
Glad to hear your dad is ok Hewie.:T0 -
HI
LL - I am 40 turned that magic number in January, my dad had his first heart attack at 39 so I was glad to pass that age. He didn't then have another until he was 62, which was followed by number 3 a year later when he had a bypass done.
I have had my chlosertol (sp sorry) tested in my 30's and I was fine. I have a pre arranged docs appointment on wed morning, so I will go over things with her then.
WW - have you done the shred before? I was just wondering when you go to the next level is it 30 days a level or go on when you feel ready.
Thanks again for all the good wishes for dad. xxxChiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor
