Weigh in today and another 3lbs lost :j:j:j So that's 6lbs in three weeks, slow but steady. I've been reading the mindful eating comments with interest, this sounds very much like the Paul McKenna CD I have, is that the same thing? And, I'm rather confused about the elephant comment or am I being dim
That's fab rachel - well done. You're definitely winning our battle of the bulge:o
You've just reminded me that I have the Paul McKenna Think Yourself Thin thing on my Ipod - I'll listen to it in bed tonight and might wake up a new thinner person:rotfl:
Did manage the Shred tonight and an extra 20 min walk on top of the usual dog walking (actually walked to the shop for strawberries) so alls not lost. Tea was healthy, if a bit bland, too.evilsquid1603 wrote: »had a pretty fab day, found out i got the second job i really wanted so im starting there next week :j

Evilsquid - Congratulations and Jublilations.............
Well done you.:j:j:j That is fantastic news. I am so pleased for you.
Rachelja - great weight loss.
Right off we go then...........
My back is starting to improve so no excuses now - time to shift that stone.
I managed to do a quick spin round Aldi and stock up on lots of healthy fruit and veg. Will also try and start increasing the exercise.
Tomorrow will weigh myself and take measurements - let battle commence.
Can't believe we are nearly at the end of our alphabet - has it really been that long.0 -
Youth
Would we really want the secret of eternal youth.???
I know I wouldn't want to be 20 again - all that angst.:rotfl:
I'm far happier now than when I was young, much more relaxed, more serene, more at peace with the world. I'm also far more confident. For those younger ones who lack confidence and who have issues with low self esteem I do think it gets easier as you get older.
I think that with age does come a certain wisdom, a calmness and contentment. The "slings & arrows of outrageous fortune" - ooh get me quoting Shakespeare - do seem much easier to bear the older and wiser one becomes. It definitely gets easier to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, to take the broader, longer view when it comes to problem solving.
So what is it about youth that is so attractive. Yes it's nice to think we still look good but I think it's a bit more.
I think it's about health, energy and vitality.
As we age are we doomed to increasing bad health, lack of energy, loss of libido. Is it all downhill - once you're past your childbearing years. I don't think it has to be.
As you know I've worked as a Manager in a sheltered housing complex and one of the things that struck me most is just how differently people age - some much faster than others. I learned that not all ageing is due to serious illness, there seems to be other factors at work.
One of my most interesting and spritely residents was a delightful old lady who was 98. OK she couldn't walk very far, but she could walk enough to meet her daily needs. She was always beautifully dressed and made up, still cooked her own meals and lived alone with just a minimum of input from carers. She was funny, intelligent and as bright as a button, always smiling and laughing. Was that her secret - her humour and her interest in everything around her.
There were quite a few very elderly ladies in our complex and most of them were like this.
However, I've also had residents who were in their early 60's who by comparison were pitiful wrecks. They did not have any serious illness such as cancer - it's just that they appeared much older than their years with a host of largely avoidable illnesses such as Type 2 Diabetes, obesity, lack of mobility, over-reliance on painkillers and anti-d's. They seemed to have given up on life. They were miserable, grumpy and complained about every little thing.
The good news for us (assuming that most of us are women) is that the women did seem to age much better than the men.
The women were by and large, happy, cheerful, alert, interested and interesting. The men were often grumpy, bad tempered, rude and downright boring.
Is this the secret - is how we age as much down to our mental attitudes as it is to our willingness to watch what we eat and take some exercise.
It may not be the whole secret but I think it plays a big part. Just being Young at Heart, with an open mind, a sense of fun and adventure and the ability to have a good laugh is what keeps the old ticker going and the bones moving.0 -
Quite right LL! I'm 40 but intend to age disgracefully - I don't mean being mutton dressed as lamb but not letting my age dictate what I do. If I want to go and try things I've never done I'll do it, if I want to stay in a read a book I'll do it. Basically, I'll please myself and not worry about what others think.
A lot of my teaching friends are younger than me but there's no difference in us when we sit and chat or go out - in fact, most are surprised when I tell them how old I am, not necessarily because I look younger than I am (only by a couple of years) but because of attitude.
Here's to feeling young, keeping young and being happy with ourselves:T
I listened to the Paul McKenna thing last night and surprisingly I've had a good day with food today. Now whether its a coincidence or whether it had a small subliminal effect who knows, but it can't hurt. Will do it again tonight - if nothing else it relaxes you and made me sleep a bit better.
Will Shred again tonight - I think I can see a little difference already - things look a bit flatter and I feel better. Will keep going until the weekend and then do a weigh in and try those jeans on again.
I made a hair appointment for a week on Saturday too - wanted it to be this Saturday but he's too busy so it will have to wait another week. Just a good trim and a colour - usually do this myself but fancied a bit of a change so thought the professionals should do the first treatment and I can then top it up when roots need doing.
Right better go and find something for tea......0 -
Although I havent used his slimming CD, I have several Paul McKenna CD's or have had, and although not as live changing as I would have liked, they did help me. Especially his confidence one. After listening to that when I had lost everything and gone bankrupt. I was up and out and found a job in a completely different field, and loved it. If it wasnt for my health I would probably still have been there.
Tomorrow I am having my hair washed and blow dried before I go on to my councilling session. So I will hopefully look reasonably Fab for a change and not the wizened old lady that I was when I first went to him. Still have masses of issues but they are more in control and in proportion at the moment.
Just dont quite know whats happening with the BF anymore. one minute its off, the next there is talk of getting it sorted out etc etc. Thats taking its toll on me mentally.
I will get there in the end I suppose. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
WelshWoofer wrote: »Morning ladies! Can't sleep - woke up at 5am after sleeping for about 5 hours and there was no chance of me going back to sleep so got up. So far this morning I have stripped the bed and tidied the airing cupboard:rotfl:all before 6am:eek:
Mooloo - I have the occasional sunbed for my little occasional patches of psoriasis and the additional benefit is a very light tan (not so that you'd notice, its more of a healthy look than Essex orange:D). I think the odd one won't hurt as long as you're careful.
Thanks, as I get psoriasis on my knees thats a good point. My Mum used to use one when she was younger as she has serious psoriasis. Totally forgot about that benefit. Derr I am a nit at times. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
