Well done on the job offer Evilsquid, fantastic news to get the job you really want!!

Was just keeping up when I read your post evilsquid. That's absolutely brilliant news, well done you!:T

It's not just you with the elephant analogy, I always think of the 'elephant in the room' so I'm more likely to ignore it than eat it!

I haven't been posting much as I've not been feeling good so not very chatty:(

I'm off on holiday on Monday. I got my 'hot' clothes out today and I'm delighted to say everythng fits.:D

    Back soon.

very pleased with my afternoon today. DS1 has been helping with cupboards tidy out. he is very ruthless about ditching stuff. have managed to create lots of useful space. 20 min walk to be done tonight. guilty as charged have been slacking off on the exercise front.
Teamwork means.......never having to take all the blame yourself ;)

    Hi all,

rachel - well done on the weight loss, that's fantastic :jwith the elephant comment, it means that if someone asked you if you could eat a whole elephant you would say 'of course not,' but if you chopped it up into little bits and had a piece or to everyday then you could do it easily - so just like you're doing with the weight loss, steady and manageable :) Plus, I always think it's much more likely to stay off that way!

evilsquid - that's great news on the job, well done you :j:T am so happy for you, you really deserve something good to happen x

LL - do agree on the youth thing, with some older people you can look at them and barely believe they're the same age, I've known some people seem like 'old women' when they're barely in their sixities while others are still full of life and getting out there and doing things decades later.

maman - hope you feel better soon hun x Have a lovely holiday :)

Had a day off yesterday - well I say 'day off' I didn't go into work but by the time I'd run round with all the appointments and errands I had on I didn't feel very relaxed :rotfl:Had choir at night, we have a charity concert on Saturday, seems to have crept up on us tbh, must admit don't feel very prepared but is only a smallish one so hopefully it will be fine. Have some friends stopping over tonight, they are doing a bike tour of Scotland/Northern England so are dropping in to see us on their way through and I convinced them a proper bed would be much preferable to yet another campsite :) Shame it's not longer as haven't seen them in a while but will still be nice to have a quick catch-up. Was thinking of taking them into town for some food but apparently the Olympic Torch is arriving this evening and half the centre is going to be closed off so think we might just settle for chippy or something (I know it's not exactly healthy!).
    Hope everyone's having a good day x

Hope you have a good evening with your friends Pod.

Well, the monthly fairy has arrived and I feel a bit better. Have scoffed a bit of chocolate today though:o The lure of the Lindt that my friend bought me for looking after his dog was obviously too much for Mr McKenna's persuasion:rotfl:I didn't bring it home so won't eat it tonight and did share so it could have been worse.

Just remembered to post the Fathers Day card and had to pop to Mr T to get a few bits for a science practical. Then whizzed the dog round the park and bought some strawbs and rasps from the greengrocer on the way home to stop myself eating naughties.
(Oh, and been to work all day too:rotfl:)

Yet another night of football on the telly I see..... Grrrrr:mad:
Will have to find something non-worky to do instead, maybe a bit of extra fabbing?

PP have a good night with your friends :)

Everyone else hope you are doing ok :)

Well the eating's not going too bad have still had some 'naughties' but have tried not to eat when I'm not really hungry. (watching secret eaters whilst typing this- this just shows how what we think we eat is different to what we really eat!) Haven't weighed myself yet and don't think I'm going to focus on that, am gonna try and focus on how I feel. Have looked on youtube for yoga videos (thanks Bitsy:)) and intend to use these for toning as well as for my muscles.

DD has decided that the pony is no good for her after being told that the lady has been less than honest with us. Apparently a friend of DD has a friend who went to look at pony with a view to buying it but when she rode it it was quite hard to handle and she decided against it. She is a more experienced rider than DD. DD's friend's mum has said to DD don't try and ride it it's dangerous. Am quite angry actually because pony's owner told us that she had had no enquiries which isn't true and she also knew that DD was a novice which means she was knowingly going to let her get on a unsuitable horse. I am torn between wanting to tell her how I feel or letting it go. I'm so glad my instincts told me to be wary or DD could have been injured. She's now going up to H's friends to ride at the weekend so hopefully this will be much more suitable. (he finally got his a**e into gear and took her at the weekend!) She's been told she can go up a few times a week. Friends wife does groundwork, lunging etc so seems much better able to help DD (and me !) gain confidence. Hopefully it will work out.

Lizzie, I am actually really mad on your behalf now - what a horribly irresponsible woman! So lucky you were cautious and didn't let dd ride him as she could have had an injury and I would hold that woman completely responsible for it! I actually feel really sorry for the horse as well, as it's obviously not had the proper time and training it needs and that, combined with her less then honest approach, no doubt means the poor animal will struggle to find a decent home with someone who has the time and effort to put into correcting her mistakes. Anyway, it sounds like the friend's wife may know what she's doing a lot more so hopefully will work out better for dd to have someone who can supervise, at least at first, and give her some pointers etc.

Sparkles - well done on the weight loss :T

Well, bit of a flying visit with the friends last night, they got in about 7.30-7.45pm and by the time they'd unloaded the bikes and hopped in the shower etc (bless them, have never seen anyone appreciate a hot shower so much, they've been on the road since Sat morning :rotfl:) was after 9 before we headed out for some food. Stayed local so we were back about 11.30, but since I had work today and they were heading off early we weren't up much later then that anyway. Would have been nice if they could have stayed a little longer, but shouldn't complain as they didn't need to pop in on their way round and was nice to see them for a few hours. Bit of sunshine, if a bit cloudy, this morning so hopefully will stay nice for them on their way down to Yorkshire.
Was hoping to catch up on some writing tonight but OH said to me last night that a film he worked on is showing in a short film festival tonight, so we might end up going to that. Little annoying though as we have to pay for tickets - apparently only the writer and director get to see it for free :(

    Good afternoon ladies

Now that I'm driving again I'm spending all my time visiting either my OH in the nursing home or my mum in the hospital. When I'm not doing that I'm running around after my dad. My house is a tip and my garden is a wilderness.

Dad has had a fall, mum fell out of bed (hospital carelessness:mad:) and OH has had yet another infection.:( As my friend said - it's like something out of a Brian Rix Farce. :rotfl:

Last night I said enough was enough and allowed my boys to take me to the cinema to see Prometheus. It was great fun and nice to have some downtime.

Tuesday I went to my friends funeral which was very sad and sobering.

I've decided to make some sweeping and radical changes. Watch this space.....

I've just rang Social Services - by hook or by crook I will be bringing OH home. I've had enough - the nursing home is ok but it's not as good as being here with me. Plus of course I have my parents to think about.

There is no way I can visit either my parents or OH each and every day and I cannot leave it all to my sister to watch over my parents.

Something has to give, so I've started trawling the web and the estate agents looking for suitable properties for parents and for OH and myself.

    Busy times.

At least this time I know the ropes, I know how to wade my way through the red tape and I know what I need to do to get sufficiently organised.

I shall not be a hero and try and do things myself - I shall delegate, manage, put systems in place.

Spinning plates is what I'm good at.

Fab-wise - I'm not sleeping too well - no surprises there, however, I'm eating ok and I've booked a hair appt and a physiotherapy appt for next week.

I'm going to have a spot of lunch, go for a walk, do my stretches, and hopefully have an hour clearing the jungle before I cook a nice healthy dinner - salmon, lots of veggies and then strawberries.

    Keep up the good work.

Just edited - the phone went so back again.....

Lizzie - sorry to hear that things didn't work out with the pony. You were right to be cautious. I'm sure something will turn up. My sister went through something similar. She was renting a pony for my niece.

Just as everything seemed sorted and my niece was all set to start showing the pony this year, entering competitions etc the little madam who owned it (and about three others - a right spoilt little rich girl) started bossing my niece around and then sold it whilst my sister and niece were in Australia. My sister didn't even get the opportunity to make an offer. .

Maman - hope you are feeling a little more perky now. Have a good holiday. Anywhere exciting???

I looked at going away for a few days myself to Cornwall. I nearly died when I saw how much hotels and trains would cost me. I took a quick look at last minute cruises and for the same price I could have had 14 nights on a no fly cruise around the Baltic, including a couple of nights in St Petersberg. No contest really is there.

I've decided that I'm going to let the dust settle with Mum & Dad, and then just book myself a last minute cruise somewhere. But first I need to shift that stone of blubber. As my DS2 said - an exotic cruise is a pretty good motivational tool.

Right just a quick "Y" and then must get cracking.

    Hi Everyone!

We had a lovely (and very challenging) holiday, the melatonin so far is not working for my little boy  but I have ordered some more to give it a fair chance of a few months before I go to see the paediatrician (again!)

We are currently trying to cut back our outgoings with a vision to overpaying the mortgage so that hopefully when the markets pick up in a few years we will be in a good position to move house.

I am fed up of being overweight, I could do with losing at least two stones, I seem to self sabotage, thinking I am not worth it and that I have always been the chubby one. I have read so many self help books but nothing seems to make a difference.

Anyone got any ideas as to what would be the best way to kick myself up the rear end?

Hope you are all well, keep on keeping on eveyone :o

    Yoga

It can be gentle and therapeutic or quite vigorous. Either way it's definitely worth doing a little now and then. It helps you relax and unwind, and keeps you flexible and mobile. It also helps with balance, very important to help minimise the risk of falls as we get older.

    You

You are the only one who can make the changes you need to get you where you want to be, to live the life you want to live.

You are the one who has to make the choices and you have to follow through. No-one can do these things for us - it's up to us.

!!!!!! - Consider your derriere well and truly kicked. ;) No excuses - just you do it.
