Aww, thanks Rachel
The beach ones were taken at Gullane, East Lothian, really nice area and once you get past the touristy section the beach is really quiet. Love the Lake District, though must admit haven't been for years now, used to get taken on day trips there when I was little
Hope your headache improves x0 -
Morning all,
Work-wise, I need to go and see one of the bosses at some point today. I've decided I'm going to ask if I can go onto 4 days a week. I've been working it out and should get a bit more tax credits, possibly even some housing benefit so won't be much worse off and will give me more time to work on my own stuff. I just need to bring a little bit in on that week to make up the difference so hopefully it will be doable. Just have to see if work go for it now. If not I will have to look for something else so hopefully they will see it as the lesser of two evils
I hope they go for it. It sounds like a good plan, especially if you can get your three days off all together. You can achieve a lot with a straight three day run and I'm sure that you will soon get those second income streams up to more than make up the difference.
Well I put myself on the scales this morning.:eek:
Day 1 has been good so far, have eaten well and sensibly and although I haven't managed a walk I did trawl round Sainsbury's and have spent a couple of hours gardening. My back is now paying the price so need to do some more stretches later. Have to get the dinner on first.
Have ordered the wheelchair gizmo - will let you know how it pans out.
A lovely evening - if it stays warm enough I might sit out later and light the chiminea and burn some papers.0 -
Evening all!
Nice to see Pod, adelight and Lizzie back with us after the weekend. I hope work and exam worries aren't grinding you down too much? Keep hanging in there xxxx
Day 1 of the shape up campaign and so far so good. I took lunch to work with me ( a quorn ham and salad wrap, with fewer cals than a roll or sandwich and much nicer, and a satsuma and some grapes). Then for tea it was 2 quorn fillets marinaded in bbq sauce and a massive salad. There's strawberries in the fridge for later. I also took the dog for a walk along the river for 30 mins after work - would have been longer but it was a bit too warm for him so we'll go again later.
Its much easier to eat healthily when the weather is nicer so hopefully it will keep it up for a while.
Just a month to go?:eek:
Actually, when I look at the past few months I think I've made real progress - taking better care of my appearance, giving up smoking, fabbing the house, the divorce coming through, getting out and about more.....
I'm much happier - now the only thing left to tackle is the flab. Hopefully a nice dent will be made in it over the next month. It won't happen without a bit of effort though so I'd better get my act in gear.
I put some tickets for a concert on ebay yesterday, as I could put the cash raised towards the holiday if I'm going, and they raised £75:j I only paid £40 for them. I bought them ages ago and am not that bothered about going and could do with saving the cash that would be spent on transport, drinks etc so a big positive.
Right, time for walkies and then need to do a bit of schoolwork for tomorrow - hope you're all enjoying the sun?0 -
Wow, a month to go to the big day. I forgot all about that but did have a little think about how far I had come over the last 12mths. A long way indeed and in a happy place indeed.
Had a nice time telling some collegues about the dropping a dress size - in some items only and generally feeling pretty happy about that! Also a nice chat about exercising and looking forward to starting again at some point this week when this virus clears up completely. Still recovering from it although feeling a lot better now
Went for a lovely walk after work in the later afternoon sun which put in a welcome appearence and planning to go again tomorrow after work. Well its time for bed and put the washing on for tomorrow to hang out and dry in the warmth. Don't tell me its going to feel like late spring at long last? Hope so, looks like I might have to dig some suitable clothes and shoes - shock horror!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

Today is the 21st - that means it's just a month now till our deadline.
Oh :eek:, definately not ready. I seem to take one step forward, three steps back. Seem to have done my back in today, have been in agony despite deep heat, heat patch and pain killers. Did manage to walk the dogs slowly and not as far as normal just thought that if I moved a bit it might loosen it up but it hasn't worked. It does happen from time to time but fortunately it hasn't been as bad as this for a long time. Unfortunately this means no more light yoga for at least a few days until it eases. A bit worried about the finger too been looking on the net and seems it can be up to 18 mths before it feels normal again:eek::eek:. It's still very stiff and swollen and again it's stopping me from going forward and doing some of the things I want to do. It's frustrating but I suppose I just have to be patient.Work-wise, I need to go and see one of the bosses at some point today. I've decided I'm going to ask if I can go onto 4 days a week. Hope this works out for you PP, it sounds like a very good idea. Good luck.
DD is going to see the pony, perhaps have a ride tomorrow. We've actually been a couple of times on our own but we are meeting the owner to sort something out re riding and looking after. DD's very taken with the pony so fingers crossed it works out.
Right time for some more pain killers then bed. NightFrump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Hi folks,
I've not been posting but certainly have been following your comments thanks. This morning I've organised myself to add to this thread because as the day elapses it becomes harder. It was a "false alarm" when I thought my back had nearly healed; worse than I thought plus affecting my mood badly.
podperson - thanks for your comments about your experience regarding your self-image. I rarely bother what anybody else thinks and it feels any effort would have minimal positive results for me. Nevertheless, I've not completely abandoned the idea. (Nice that it works for you).
lessonlearned - I understand your message to me and believe I am doing "this" for all that is "dear" in my life. Anyway, today I will have to plan how to modify life for the future, yet again, as adverse health certainly results in "unfab".
Hope everybody is fine as much as possible.0 -
At last clear blue skies and it feels nice and warm already.:)
Going to try and take OH out somewhere - my back is not great so will have to be very careful.
Lizzie and Dannie - my great sympathies to you with your poorly backs - just try and rest a bit, a few gentle stretches when you can and then nurse them along. It seems that quite a few of us on here have issues with our backs, but then I did read that something like 80% of the population with have back problems at some time.
Apparently it's all due to do with a design flaw. We are descended from primates after all. We weren't supposed to stand upright all the time.
Just time for a quick "V" and I need to get going.0 -
Are you getting enough.
Vitamins
Naughty, naughty - no sniggering at the back.
I know all the experts say that if you eat a good diet then you will get all the vitamins you need from your food. I think the key word here is "if".
Who of us can say hand on heart that we always eat a perfect diet. I think a good all purpose multi vitamin a day is useful, especially when we are tired or stressed.
Obviously it is dangerous to over do vitamin supplements so I would suggest that if you feel the need for anything stronger or more specific then you work with your doctor to ensure what you take is right for you and that it will not interact badly with any meds you are taking.
Vim, Vigour and Vitality is what I'm aiming for and putting a bit of VaVaVoom back into my life.:rotfl: That's where I want the road to Fabdom to take me.0 -
Hi lessonlearned, thanks for that. Sorry about your back too. It's sunny here also.
Best wishes for the day.0 -
Morning all,
LL - I was going to brave the scales last night but bottled outam sure they will not be kind to me, have let things slip drastically! Hope you have a nice day out with OH.
ww - sounds like a great day 1I wasn't doing too bad yesterday but then got starving at about 11pm and had a cheese roll - not even a good snack
I think you've made amazing progress - the smoking, the house fabbing, the new social life - am sure the weight will be shifting in no time as well
Lizzie - sorry about the back hun, is it worth seeing your GP or is there not much they can do?
Dannie - sorry the back seems to have regressed - we do seem to have a lot of back probs on hereRegarding self-image, I was actually quite surprised the difference it did make to me, I've never really been a 'girly girl' or very into clothes, make-up etc but I do find that feeling good on the outside does give me a bit of a confidence boost, which can help with external situations, eg if I'm meeting new people or going for an interview or something. I think one of the great things about this thread is seeing how people start by fabbing themselves a bit on the outside and then it starts to affect other areas of their lives.
Anyway, day seems to be brightening up here, was rather dull and cloudy this morning so was thinking that was our one day of summer gone already - not that I get to appreciate it much through my tiny window at work but stillWork meeting didn't go great yesterday. I suggested the reduced hours to him but he didn't seem very keen, said will discuss it with the other boss when he's back from holiday 'as a possibility' but was saying that he's hoping some jobs are coming in in the next few weeks and he's dropping the engineer wages so hopefully he might not need to do mine. So, suppose I should really be happy about that but had kind of talked myself into 4 days being a good idea and how I would be able to work on my own stuff so came out a little disappointed. OH says I'm never happy
Would be nice to know one way or the other though as is a bit up in the air at the moment.
