Good morning all!
Well fab wise today I have taken the dog for his longer walk this morning then spent an hour making a special fish pie for my tea which grew into huge portions! Anyway its chilling now ready for cooking tonight while I'm fabbing in the bath with a face pack on
I'm about to fab the house up in the next hour, then have a couple of hours on the assignment then another long dog walk or run and then fabbing my feet, nails, face and hair then watch a film with tea and and go to bed at the usual time as not stopping up this year for any reason.
Tomorrow will go for a run in the morning to wake myself up before the studying recommences

I don't think I'm ready to do a long list of goals yet, but one thing I do want to get sorted; in fact it's necessary before I can really make any progress, and that is to get my sleep pattern sorted.
At present, it's not so much "pattern" as "crazy paving"; I'm naturally nocturnal, have been all my life, which isn't a help to start; but due to the extreme fatigue due to lupus, I'm all over the place.:(
Currently, I lie awake most of the night (pain is partly responsible.):(
05:15 the first alarm goes off, Mr LW gets me my morning Oramorph (needed to dull the pain enough to move).
Once that's kicked in a bit, I flex the ol' joints while still lying down, to get them moving.
06:00, 2nd alarm goes off, we get up, Mr LW runs the bath, and morning ablutions are done -nothing fancy, just bath and teeth-cleaning. Mr LW then assists me with dressing.:o
Then: breakfast, tidying the kitchen, washing up, hanging up any washing that's been done overnight (on cheaper leccy), til at 07:30 Mr LW leaves for work.
By this time I am nearly dead on my feet, so go and lie on the sofa, which is where I remain til sometimes 11:00, or occasionally even later, when I panic, realise that yet again I've lost the whole morning, and scrat around to get my emails seen to (I do a lot of online surveys), housework done (- I follow the Flylady lists, so nowadays I'm at least only doing one room a day instead of trying to do the whole bungalow), grab lunch (if I remember) on the fly, and scrabble around to get the day's housework tasks finished.
I do try for half hour Yoga on the Wii Fit - ideally I should do that and another half hour of other exercise, but often time is against me.
Scrabble about to get dinner ready for when Mr LW gets in from work (18:45-ish most days). Wash up (yes, he does help):A
Do Brain Training on the Nintendo DS whilst at the same time using my mini-walker machine (for exercising legs for people who have mobility problems) while he does his Wii Fit.
By this time it's 21:00 or sometimes later, if he's been on the late shift at work - he likes us to do some computer gaming together, so we do that. When he's had enough of gaming, if tomorrows dins requires vegetables that are hard for me to prepare, Mr LW does them and leaves them in water while I put out tomorrow's tablets: 3 for him and 11 for me in the mornings, 7 for me early evening, and 3 for me at bedtime.:eek::eek: Then off to bed, and the whole cycle repeats.:(
ETA: I sometimes flake out during the afternoon, too, and have to lie down for an hour or so.:(:(:(
If I have a canine guest staying, I set alarms in my phone to make sure I'm conscious when they need feeding/walking.:D
OK, after all that waffle.....:D what I want is to be able to start my tasks before 10:00 (at first - aiming for earlier than that further down the line), have my housework AND half hour yoga done by 16:00, and actually have a bit of breathing space for things like doing my nails, shaving my legs and such like, which tend to get left simply because I have neither time nor energy left to do them.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Lame Wolf - I think just teeny little steps will be a great confidence boost for you. Well done for making the effort:T
My sister is disabled and really trying hard to become a bit more independent and this year's achievement has simply been showering herself and washing her own hair. She's had a wet room put in with a sort of tiled bench built in (very nice it is too, I'm a bit jealous!) and can now sit and wash herself and do her hair - balance is a big issue for her so she couldn't do this before. Just this seemingly small thing to everyone else is a massive step forward for her and she's more confident because of it.
Good luck! Every little thing will help.
I've been to do the shopping (in my new boots to give them a test run) and bought enough fruit and veg to feed an army! I will poo like a trooper and glow from all of the vitamins!
The rain has finally stopped and after getting drenched again in the park this morning I plan to take the dog out for a second trot for about 30-45 mins or so - will charge my ipod and do it to music - I always find I walk a bit faster when there's music to keep me company.
I'll have a think about my self improvemnt aims for 2012 and post again later - don't want to be too unrealistic or ambitious.0 -
Good Morning
Lessonslearned thank you for that valuable post, I think it is so important to take things one step at a time
Been thinking about my plans for me over the next year and I want to keep it simple:- Move more - formal exercise or just dancing like a muppet round the living room
- Eat better - make sure my meals are healthy with less daily treats
- Skincare - cleanse and moisturise twice a day
- Wear clothes I want to wear not just ones in the sale that will do
- Make sure I take more time out for the people and things I love
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 - Move more - formal exercise or just dancing like a muppet round the living room

.
Just a quickie - you are absolutely right, the sooner you can get some decent sleep the better.
Your illness is terribly debilitating isn't it. I have a friend who has the same condition but it doesn't appear to be as severe as yours because she is still reasonably mobile. Extreme tiredness yes but not a wheelchair user.
My heart goes out to you LW and also to Mr LW. He has terribly long days too doesn't he. What a strain for you both. Just do what you can when you can. You do seem to be doing all you can to maintain your fitness and flexibility.
Do you have any other help at all - SS  or someone to help with cleaning or shopping etc.
I hope you get your sleep sorted soon - lack of sleep = more pain, pain = lack of sleep. It's a vicious circle, hope you can break it somehow.
All the best X0 -
" I'll show you mine, if you show me yours ":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Oh I do love this thread. I found myself sitting up with a really straight back after reading the posture bit and then I read this! It's not easy to sit up straight and roll about laughing at the same time! :TLL
I'm not ready to finalise my aims yet either. I'm sort of mulling them over and I suppose cheating a bit by looking at everyone else's. To an extent, it's a bit like plate balancing in that I want to keep the others going from previous years (lots of alcohol free days, healthy SW eating, make up etc) but also start some new ones.
We'll be staying up to see the NY in and having a nice meal a deux this evening. We'll probably just chat and maybe play some games (better add it'll be things like Scrabble as there's so much inuendo on here today;)). TV seems such carp at the moment and the films that are on I've seen. Would be interested to know how others spend leisure time. That's one of my plans as I get cross with myself if I feel I've 'wasted' time.
So far today I've had a lovely pamper session. Showered, styled hair, creamed all over including feet, mini-pedicure, face mask, moisturise. I've dressed ( a bit dull but smart) in black trousers, cami and grey cashmere cardi. I'll do make up later but enjoying lovely 'clean' feel at the moment. While waiting for face mask I washed make up brushes and cleaned out basket where I keep everyday make up. Plus cleaned bathroom while waiting for creams to soak in.
I'm not sure I did aspirin mask right LL so would appreciate advice. I did crush them but probably not enough. They were more like grains than powder so my face looked like it had snow all over. Should it be more like a paste? Anyway I put some of this on
afterwards so a bit of belt and braces 'til I get the hang of tings.
Back later. Hope everyone's having a good day.0 -
well all ready for tonight and for my bright new start for the new year tomorrow! have nearly got my house in order (been ALOT of decoarating this year ) now just need to declutter all the carp i insist on keeping!
while i know i am never going to be a supermodel, i just want to be the best that i can, so will
1. eat better
2. lose the weight AND keep it off this time
3. dress better (would rather have a smaller decent wardrobe that makes me look and feel fab, than the pile of rubbish that i seem to have that doesn't fit and doesn't make me feel fab)
4. get fit, used to go the gym all the time and have done a 5k, so hopefully this should actually be the easiest thing for me to accomplish!
5. set some time aside for me, in reality i do have time for me but seem to end up on the sofa rather than doing something more productive
can think of lots of things that i want to be, i want to be one of those people that people want to copy!!
well feeling very fired up and i know that we can do this, gosh it feels fab just being part of this group!

Regarding help - no, it's just Mr LW and myself. I have no friends at all - I don't have social skills, and of course I can't just go out whenever I feel like it, so haven't got to know anyone in the local area in the nearly 10 years I've lived here. Having severe social phobia doesn't help. I'm estranged from my family, so no help to be had there; and I'd sooner gouge out my eyes with a rusty teaspoon than have a stranger come to my house, I'm just too scared of people for that.Would be interested to know how others spend leisure time. That's one of my plans as I get cross with myself if I feel I've 'wasted' time.
I feel I owe him that, as he does so much to help me with things I can no longer manage myself - a lot of it silly stuff, too, like I can't put my own bra on; I can't get my hands round to do it. Someone once said to put it on back to front and swivel it round, but my fingers aren't strong enough to do this; and I've been unsuccessful if finding anything front-fastening that I like (ie wouldn't make me look even more frumpy).
But I digress.... we need to give Guilt the big heave-ho, methinks.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon everyone...just wanted to wish you a happy new year in advance of tonight…I’m just getting ready for an evening with friends and have taking a bit of time to paint my nails and will make sure I don’t wear my scruffy jeans out tonight. It’s so encouraging to read everyone elses posts and to see resolutions. I’m yet to make mine…I have a PhD deadline for the end of January so am planning to re-evaluate life once it’s been posted off to the examiners…I can’t imagine how it will feel to have the weight lifted off my shoulders!
I read the Happiness Project a while ago – has anyone else read it? I got a lot from it…and I think it’ll work with my desire to keep lists/charts etc ☺ I’m going to use her ideas for goals for each month to revamp my life, learn to relax and get fitter and healthier. I haven’t had much chance to look round the website yet but here’s the details if anyone wants to take a look. Essentially you set yourself target for each month so January you do Jan, in Feb you do Jan and Feb etc…You also work out your personal commandments – rules you want to live by – the book is well worth a read

All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0
