Well they're in and finished I'm pleased to say. Who knows if they're right . Let's wait and see.

Lizzie - so glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better about the situation and that you've tried to talk to your daughter. Fingers crossed for a bit more give and take on her behalf.
Just back from the dog walk and again I really enjoyed myself. I met two "ladies" that I hadn't met before (one with a dog the other just along for the walk). They were both about the same age as me and we gabbed all the way around (about 75mins) before the rain started. Both of them asked if we could do another one, next time with a dog friendly pub at the end for "refreshments":p.
I really don't know what stopped me doing this before - I have things to look forward to and new people to meet, life is much more interesting and not just work work work.
The next outing is to the local theatre on Friday with a group of about 12 women to see a play called Three Tall Women - not sure if its really my thing but in the spirit of trying new things I'm giving it a go. Its only £7 for the ticket and I can park for free so it won't break the bank even if I'm not a massive fan of the play.
Just going to warm up for a bit and then crack on with the school work - pooch is flat on his back on the sofa and will be quiet for a few hours yet!0 -

There's nothing quite like the feeling of finishing it and handing it in is there - have a chilled afternoon, you deserve it! Big thumbs up!0 -

:Tsparkles. It's a great feeling and there's nothing you can do now, it's gone!!! Back in the day (pre-internet) I remember creeping out at dead of night to post assignments to my tutor or poke it through the door. It was that great feeling of it being gone! Then there's the reclaiming of the dining table and you can start to live like a normal person again.
Glad your 'dog walk' went well ww, life is certainly on the up for you.0 -
I have no friends,
'Fraid I'm not having a good day today; too much pain. I have the excruciating lower back pain that used to be a monthly recurrence - but I've not had that to contend with for nearly three years, so I don't know what's going on. This is on top of the dratted shoulder pain, which is so bad today (despite morphine) that I had to get Mr LW to wash my hair for me - as in do the entire task, not just assist.:(
I hope to goodness the physio-terrorist can do/suggest something to help when I go tomorrow, because I really don't think I can hack this for much longer.
Sorry, I'm afraid I'm rather dragging the thread down - I'll go away now. I need to move anyway, as Dylan needs taking out.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
What a lovely thread
Can I join in please? I think its a great idea! I've been having a go myself today. And simply getting all my chores done before lunch and then taking a mere five mins to do my hair different and to apply a little bit of make up - neither of which I normally bother with - has made me feel loads better

Hi Rachelja - Welcome and well done for getting started.
LW - I tried acupuncture last week, first time ever. I must say I've been impressed - not completely pain free but certainly easier. Worth a try maybe???? Hope you get something sorted - constant pain is very wearing.
Just edited to add - re the shoulder - sounds really bad now - have you tried steroid injections?
My shoulder was awful a couple of weeks ago and I was very tempted to ask my GP for this, luckily the acupuncture, although given in my lower back, also helped with my shoulder too.
I have the occasional injection into my right heel for plantar fascitis and it works very well.
Sparkles - well done on getting all your work done - bet you feel great now. Time off to have some "nice" time.
Well no gardening - rain again - however put the time to good use - there's a cake in the oven - smells wonderful.
Decluttering done - nice bag full. Even managed to clear out one food cupboard - some spices going back to 2005:eek: Don't think there would be much spicy taste left after all this time.
Counted up the shrapnel jar - £19 - all bagged up ready to go towards the Christmas fund.
Todays' fabbing - eyebrows, face mask, mini pedicure.
Will give myself a manicure and paint my nails tonight whilst watching the box.
Off to finish the paperwork declutter and a few exercises before cooking dinner. Stew and dumplings - with some broccoli I found lurking in the veg patch. :rotfl:
Nice productive day.:D0 -
LL where I lived before, I used to get steroid injections regularly. Not pleasant (I'm severely needle-phobic) but they did help. Unfortunately where I live now it's been an uphill struggle to even get a referral to the physio-terrorist - I've been fobbed off several times, and it was only when Mr LW became uncharacteristically "assertive", shall we say;) last time I had a meds review (April 21st) that I even got this referral.
This whole episode with the shoulder (this time around) started last September when the rheumy, who wants to discharge me back to just the care of the GP, decided that as I was reasonably stable, she'd stop my Plaquenil. I got the Plaq re-instated a month later, (I wrote a letter to the rheumy and literally begged to have it back) but the shoulder hasn't improved, unfortunately; (although, in fairness, the other flare symptoms have settled down, for the most part).
I will try and remember to mention the words "steroid injection" when I go tomorrow. In fact, :idea:I ought to sit down for half an hour and make some notes of what to mention - I'm literally terrified of medical bods of any sort, and will get in there and my mind will go blank.:cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
LW - write it down, make a list and don't be fobbed off.
I don't wish to be rude but I read your list of meds and there just seems to be so many and yet you seem to be in so much pain. Your pain meds don't seem to be doing much and TBH the trouble is the body just gets used to them. Many of them are also highly addictive.
Now I know I'm nagging - sorry -but push like mad for some help and then push some more. You should not be in so much pain all the time that you cannot bear to move.
I know steroid injections are extremely unpleasant but done properly they really do work.
As you know I manage my own pain relief using natural methods as far as possible, partly because I just don't get on with prescribed pain killers - too many unpleasant side effects and, given my physiology, I would probably become addicted very quickly.
However, when my foot is really bad I do plump for steroid injections. You can't have too many of course because of potential bone damage but I think you can have a max of 4 per year in any one spot.
Have you tried Ibruprofen gel on your shoulder. I currently manage with Ibruprofen gel (the maximum strength 10% one) and padded support under the heel - haven't needed an injection for about 2 years now. I don't take Ibruprofen tablets because they upset my tummy.
Keep trying LW - don't be afraid of medics - they're only human. Don't make the mistake of thinking that they are God like beings who know everything and have all the answers. Don't be intimated tomorrow.0 -
Thanks for all the well dones!
I had a nice relaxing afternoon. The living room is now returned to normal looking much better now all the books and papers are cleared away. Took Mr Dog on a lovely walk around the nature reserve and then came back to do 20mins on the stepper which went really well.
Had a lovely relaxing bath and facemask and defuzzed too.
Now just about to tuck into a chocolate eclair!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550
