    Morning all,

Inazuma - think I may have to go do myself a list later :) A friend mentioned NLP to me a while back and it did sound quite interesting.

LW - glad your new guest is settling in well, hopefully she's giving a bit more motivation :)

Sparkles - the handbag sounds lovely and a bargain :) good luck for your meeting.

WW - sending you *hugs* for pooch, hope the lubricant worked and he's a bit better this morning - I totally agree pets are members of the family, nothing daft about being worried about them in the same way x

LL - how lovely the dog was such a huge hit, am sure have read about charities that do that - take dogs into places like nursing homes, hospices, hospitals to cheer tup the patients. Like you said, just a small thing but can brighten up someone's day. Fingers crossed for you the benefits are finally getting somewhere. Shall try and have a look for that programme, not usually around during the day but might be able to download or something.

Anyways, vitamin dosing-up has not worked and am full of a cold :( Have gone to work but really not feeling great - the thing about my work is I probably won't see anyone for more then 5 mins all day so no chance of them going 'poor you, go home early' :rotfl:Ah well, shall try and perserve and go to bed when I get home. Hope everyone else is having a better day x

It was also saying how faking confidence can spill over and become real confidence. If we learn a few tricks we can use them to overcome shyness and give the illusion about being in control and being confident. If we practise them enough they become reality.

This is exactly what I meant when I said:-

....I could either spend my days feeling down in the dumps, lonely and miserable, or I could change my viewpoint and accept the situation, learn to enjoy my own company....

or as the Americans say "fake it till you make it"!

If, when you're feeling down or unhappy, you plaster a pretend smile on your face, and it will eventually become real. Same with fake/pretend laughter, and not forgetting yawning!:rotfl::rotfl:

I think that the practice of "fakery"...and no, I'm not advocating self-delusion here, just self-help..... can help with any/many situation(s)...if you want that situation to happen badly enough, yet you're present mood/feeling aren't allowing you to be/feel the way you really want to be/feel.

Initially, when I "changed my viewpoint", I was telling myself, yeh, I like my own company, and even though I'm alone, I'm not lonely, and eventually, in the words of Captain Kirk, I "made it so"! :j

Great post Skymist. I like the "make it so" quote.

I agree wholeheartedly. In fact it probably underpins my whole approach to overcoming life's hurdles. We often have no choice what happens to us, however, we can choose how we respond.

Do we lie down and play the victim or do we get up again and keep going. "Faking it" does help. The same as NLP. I think they are both very effective tools in building self esteem and confidence, in changing our thinking, in making us positive and pro-active. I also advocate exercise, music and the restorative powers of nature.

I appreciate that some of you may have serious doubts about the efficacy of self-help methods, especially the use of psychology and philosophical thought. You may feel it's all a bit too New Age Hippy. All I know is it works for me.

Which brings me nicely to my first K

Is there some great cosmic force out there. Who knows, who cares. I do however believe in the old "Reap as you Sow" thing or to put it another way, "What Goes Around Comes Around". I do try to be good.:o

    Kindness

I do believe in kindness - yes even to complete strangers. The old do unto others thing.

RAK's - Random Acts of Kindness. Do them, every day, no reason, just do them because you can. Just help others without thinking what's in it for me, without thought of reward. Like the film "Pay It Forward". You'll get your reward in heaven.:rotfl: and it'll make you feel good.

Yesterday I noticed a young mum struggling with a toddler and a baby in a double buggy. The toddler didn't want to ride in the buggy, so mum was trying to hold the toddler's hand, steer the buggy and open a door.

Of course I helped, it was nothing to me. I spoke to the toddler and held the door open for Mum so she could steer the buggy. Just a couple of seconds of my time.

    Kisses

Wonderful. I kiss all my friends and of course my family. In Belguim (my family are Belgian) it's four kisses. Two each cheek - every hello, every goodbye, every goodnight, every good morning. Everything takes ages. :rotfl: In the UK one kiss on the cheek is enough.

I don't kiss dogs. I do not want their tongues anywhere near my face - not after they've licked their own genitals, thank you very much. :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks for all the lovely comments for tomorrow. I feel better about it now and will be very smartly dressed to knock the tutor to one side and I'll sit on the right side all ready and prepared for a 'discussion'.

LL - Hope your hair colour and cut tomorrow goes well
WW - Hope Mr Dog is ok now, I would be gutted if something happened to mine as I love him to bits!
Skymist - Funnily enough that's quite similar to how I've changed how I think about being on my own. I used to feel sad and lonely and now I don't.

Fab comment today from a friend at work - I look fabulous and radiant and glowing. How weird, this is the second friend that's said exactly the same thing to me in the same week. Funny when I look in the mirror I don't see it! Anyway, she also wants to look fab so I'll have a little chat tomorrow as no time today

Fab exercise today was a 6 mile run knocking a few more minutes off my usual time which was a delight. Next run is on Friday - a long one.

    J.....is for.......Joy!

Best use of J - lets be joyful, joyous and enJOY

Everyone else - let's all get there, spring is on its well and let's feel the springtime!

    What a 24 hours!!!

Poor dog was even worse last night and I spent the whole night in the garden in the rain with him (the only place he wanted to be). I didn't even get to go to bed, he was writhing in pain, it was awful.
At 8am the vet nurse rang to say she'd arrived at work and I promptly whizzed him there where he was put straight on a drip (apparently he was very dehydrated from not drinking), they Xrayed him and did blood tests and he was then whipped into "surgery". He's had a general anaesthetic and an endoscopy type procedure to remove the blockage.
They let me pick him up at 4ish and take him home with me - he's very sleepy but not in pain. He looks a bit brighter already. The vet says it must have been absolute agony for him - the poor little mite.

On top of all that, I've done a full days teaching at work on no sleep at all and am shattered.
Just had a nice long soak in the bath and some food (first warm food in 2 days:o) and will be off to bed with poochy early tonight.

So my K word is Knackered!

ww, I'm not really a dog person but I felt such sympathy for your little one. I'm delighted he seems to be out of the woods. Have they any idea what caused it? I was wondering if his new diet might be affecting him? Hope you both get a good night's sleep.

And you pod, hope you feel better after a night's sleep.

I'm not into new age or anything but I do believe in psychology to an extent. By to an extent I mean that there are other factors that affect how we feel but our state of mind is definitely one of them. So all the visualising and motivating does help IMO.

Great compliments sparkles and maybe tomorrow you'll be able to spread the word with your friend. I remember when you were down (hence your username I recall?) but Wow! have you come a long way. I'm always interested in your outfits, seems to me you've really embraced colour.

I've got a busy day tomorrow with work stuff going straight into an evening out. I'm amazed how I think ahead and plan my wardrobe, time for hair and make-up etc. these days. I'm a real believer in the look good/feel good thing. I know I'll be much more confident at my meetings when I've made an effort to look my best. That 'body language' programme sounds good LL, I only have freeview but if it's on there let us know.

Did you say you're getting your hair done LL? I've an appointment for Friday but very pleased with mine at the moment. This always happens in that I really start to like the length then I get it cut! I have to otherwise the ends go really ragged and the shape is a mess. I just have highlights every few months but I've often thought what I'll do when grey strikes with a vengeance. I know there are a few bits but not enough for them not to be hidden amongst highlights as yet. I'm planning to get new passport photos done after my hair appointment, might as well look my best!;)

    'night all.
