Frump to Fab - Summer Solstice Sizzler

Feeling a bit brighter this evening after a fab run which I ran quicker than I have before. Felt down in the dumps today and cheered myself up buying a new handbag in the sales for £4. Its plastic but little flower pattern a la Cath Kid style. Decided instead of spending between £20-50 on a pleather bag from a designer or more on a leather bag to get it and use it for the summer when the style is more casual and bright. Pleased with the new weekend handbag then for £4
Also bought another scarf for £1 for me and one for mum to go with mother's day present so that's ready to go now. Wore my new scarf today to cheer up my dull outfit of dark navy straight leg jean/trouser things and an ocean green/blue jumper cheered up with a coral patterned scarf which was rather cheering and brightening.
Hoping to get out for a run again tomorrow and plod along for another 6 miles at a slightly sprightly plod. And planning another long run on Friday too - eek!
Sorted out my power dress uniform for a tough stern meeting on Thursday to dazzle with brightness and brilliance and hope to get a result changed. Well let's see how it goes then.final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days - the pooch is ill and its taken up loads of time, back and forth to the vets and juggling work etc.
He's managed to get a blockage in his lower colon and can't poo - its quite heart wrenching to watch him trying, he's actually made himself vomit a few times with the effort:(.
Yesterday, the vet tried a mini enema - no luck. Tonight he tried an oral lubricant and if that doesn't shift it by the morning I have to drop him off for an xray and probably a small operation to remove it. I know it sounds daft but the dog is really like a baby to me (never had children) and I'm worried to death about him - he's really down and won't eat or go for walks - all he wants to do is cuddle.
On the positive side some of the new work clothes have had an outing and have met with lots of lovely comments- some even from the 16 year old girls I teach! Apparently I'm their favourite teacher and I always look nice - they don't see me on the 6am dog walk with pyjamas, bed hair and a track suit over the top - very glam!:rotfl::rotfl:
Right the woofer needs a cuddle - will let you know tomorrow how he is LoneWolf (I know you'd like to know).0 -

Jealousy
Urgh, Nasty. Painful, soul destroying.
I think jealousy is the most toxic and destructive of all emotions, especially when it's sexual jealousy. Shakespeare's play "Othello" says it all.
I hate it when I hear about people deliberately trying to make their partners or loved ones jealous just to provoke some kind of reaction. Why oh why would anyone deliberately hurt someone like this. It is so immature, so spiteful, so nasty and vicious, and truth be said, downright puerile.
Jealousy will eat away at you like a cancer, destroying confidence and building insecurity. Avoid it and anyone who plays these games like the plague.
Stick to Joyfulness instead.
Anymore "J"s ladies - if not we'll move on to the "K's" tomorrow.
BTW - as suspected, my sister's dog was a huge hit at the nursing home today. Everyone, residents and staff alike made a huge fuss of him. There is a man in the next room to OH who has dementia. Max (the dog) walked into his room and made himself at home. The poor man's face lit up - he thought it was his own dog come to visit.
Such a little thing, a few minutes with a dog gave so much pleasure. Will definitely arrange to take him again.
Today went well, making progress with the benefit query letters and calls. Fingers crossed. Picked up a little silver coloured bangle from Charity Shop - only £1.
Also booked a hair appt for next week, going to get it coloured - not quite sure how. I'm thinking light brown with caramel highlights a la Jane Fonda. I definitely need some colour - it's time to say goodbye to the ghost.
G'night all X0 -

WW loads of healing vibes for poor pooch; I hope to goodness the lubricant does the trick, poor little chap.
Doesn't sound daft to me at all, btw - likewise, I never had children (I don't have a maternal bone in me) and tbh, to me, an animal is just as much a part of the household as the human members.
Sadie seems to have settled in OK; she's now confident enough to follow us from one room to another, and will take a biscuit from me, which she wouldn't when she first arrived.:TIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Welsh woofer hugs for your poochie xxx hope the lubricant works xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

If anyone is interested .............
I've just discovered a series on TV called the "Body Language Secrets". It's on one of those minority type channels around midday. I'm sorry will try and look it up for you to be a bit more definite.
I don't watch it on the day. I've set the series to record so can watch it as and when.
Anyway last weeks was all about power. Fascinating stuff, looking at politicians, famous Hollywood "A" listers like Tom Cruise and their body language.
Gordon Brown and Obama made fascinating case studies, whilst watching an interchange between Cameron and Boris Johnson was a revelation. When it was explained what was going on it became blatantly obvious who has the upper hand in those relationships. It's just a question of learning to read the tell tale signs and giveaways. We are sooooo like Apes.:rotfl::rotfl:
It also looked at power in the workplace, about "Alpha" people, how they exude "power", how they get what they want. There is so much we can learn from observing behavioural display, posture, gestures, facial expressions. I knew much of this anyway but this programme is really very very good at explaining at how it all works and comes together.
It was also saying how faking confidence can spill over and become real confidence. If we learn a few tricks we can use them to overcome shyness and give the illusion about being in control and being confident. If we practise them enough they become reality.
There was a really good session on interviews, what to wear, how to behave etc. The programme confirmed what we've discussed here - just how important it is to make that good impression in a job interview, how you are judged - before you even enter the room properly let alone open your mouth, within the first few seconds simply by how you are dressed, your posture, your gestures.
It also confirmed the discussion we had about wearing make up. Women who wear make up earn on average 25% more than those who don't. They get more of the promotions.
Sparkles Good luck on Thursday - get the power uniform sorted and knock 'em dead.:)
Tip from the programme - When in a business meeting etc try and sit on the right hand side of the boss/decision maker. Apparently it's all about communication and left hand/right hand brain stuff. If you sit on the right hand side of the "Principal" you'll get noticed more easily and your comments will receive more weight.
Have a great day X
