Frump to Fab - Summer Solstice Sizzler

Adelight - personally I would probably go for the classic grey one and add some jewellery or acessories for a splash of colour. I think it depends a bit on the job/company as well though - are they quite traditional, formal and established or are they more new, young and innovative etc. Eg for a bank would go for the grey, for a design company would probably try the brighter one.
i'm being an absolute drip i know, i just know i will freak out about it until it's over
i was thinking the grey one would be good as it's safe and i could bring a belt or necklace in my handbag and slip it on in the loo when i get there if it seems appropriate ifykwim. i can't wear bangles because i have to do an exam and don't want to be making a racket :rotfl:Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Heels!
Both sorts really. I always feel wearing shoes with heels is one of the finishing touches of fabbing but am quite tall so never learnt to walk in very high ones - but I do think they look great. Also heels on feet get neglected, so lets get moisturising and have fab feet for summer. Cracked yellow heels are not a good look in those sandals!0 -
Adelight - I'd go for the grey one - I think you can jazz it up with a bright red scarf and you'd get much more wear out of it.
And humps:rotfl: You're absolutely right! Let's not forget mammograms and checks to keep our humps nice and healthy! Oooh, and a good bra to make the best of them!
Inazuma - heels - of course! Always make me feel much more positive and feminine - like I mean business. And as for the physical type of heels - I hate feet and have minging ones - I do have a little go with a pummice stone every now and again and paint my toe nails but its a job I hate and have to force myself to do, but you're right, flipflop and sandal weather is only a few months away so I should make more effort.
And thanks for the reminder about handcream Sezza - always forget about it.
Not got a lot on today - need to pop to town to go to the bank, library and Aldi but it shouldn't take more than an hour or so. The dog needs his jogging session in the park this morning to keep up his fabbing campaign and then there's the rugby this afternoon - Wales v England - guess who I'm supporting......?
Need to do a few small bits for work and a bit of housefabbing - my Hoover decided to die yesterday but I've plugged it in this morning and its seems to have resurected itself - perhaps it was just having a bit of a rest?:rotfl:
Right, better get the dog's sweatband on him and make him feel the burn! No pain no gain woofer!0 -
Whilst tootling around doing the usual chores this morning I was struck by inspiration.....
Hair - now mine is a work in progress but as they said in the old days it really is your crowning glory. There's really no excuse for dirty or unbrushed hair and roots are another big no no (must say I'm guilty of this one from time to time). A good hair cut and the right colour can really take years off you - doesn't have to cost a fortune either, home colours are much better than they used to be and are easily done.
Heart disease - woman are just as prone to this as men - in fact, 1 in 3 women are killed by heart disease. Easy ways to minimse the risk involve staying at a healthy weight, not smoking, avoiding too much saturated fat and taking gentle exercise. Not brain surgery is it?
Hormones - the bane of our lives! They can make you feel like you're ready to kill, an emotional wreck or can easily eat your own body weight in chocolate but they can be managed. Doctors can work miracles with treatments for hormone disorders these days so don't suffer in silence.
On the positive side hormones can do great things too - progesterone (one of the female hormones) makes you happy, improves your sex drive, is a natural diuretic (makes you wee) helping get rid of bloat, and can protect against lots of female cancers and things like fibroids and endometriosis. Oestrogen helps to stabilise mental health - too high or too low and mood swings can occur.
That brings us on to HRT
Not something I need yet but I know my mum almost tried to stage a sit in at the GPs when he suggested it was time to come off her HRT - she swears by it - it literally changed her life when she was really struggling with the menopause. Again, don't suffer in silence!!
And the last one......Home
A place to retreat to, feel safe and relax. Make yours as comfortable as you can, a clean tidy home really does make you feel better and more in control. Little steps every day help to keep on top of it - no one wants to live like one of those people on the hoarder programmes!
(Hope I haven't bored everyone stiff, I am a scientist!:o)0 -
LW, what did you think of "The Woman In Black" ? Do you recommend it?
Daniel Radcliffe was extremely good as the main character - I've not seen any of the Harry Potter films, so didn't have any preconceptions of what he'd be like as an actor.;)
H is for HAT
I'm mentioning it, because as a Lupie, I have a BIG problem with the sun; I have a couple of nice sunhats, I keep a baseball cap in the car for emergencies when we're out, and I have an old cloth hat of Mr LW's to wear when I put washing out (5 mins sun exposure without headgear makes me somewhat "Uncle D!ck" as a former colleague used to say).If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
H is for Happy and H is for Healthy
I'm happier now I'm exercising regularly and happy because I'm now much healthier in many ways. I have just meal planned for the week ahead to try and keep a healhy balance after the over indulgences of the last few weeks. Sounds nice and easy and should be ok to stick to
I'm happier today now I've tidied up and zoomed around the house cleaning up. Only a bit left to do tomorrow, plus a couple of jobs to do.
And of course, not forgetting the fabbing - fabwise now I've tidied my nails up, hair pack on pre wash treatment and about to pop a facemask on to happily fab myself up a littlefinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

I found that baby oiling them in the shower is the best way, then when you dry them off the oil kinds stays on and over a few days starts to soften them up really well. A chiropodist did once tell me that using pumice or those scrapey things makes it worse as your skin thinks its walking on a rough surface so toughens up. Don't know if it's true but might be worth a try.0 -
I need some help, I'm stuck in a rut. Possibly being made redundant (don't panic have another job lined up).
Had my shoulder length hair cut off just before Christmas into a Frankie Sandford style with Chocolate and blond highlights and am trying to keep my eyebrows under control :rotfl:I am finding that with shorter hair I really need to make the most of my eyes as they are quite small!
Moisturise all over most days (unless it 's cold)
Just had a huge clearout of my wardrobe  and am looking to put together a capsule wardrobe with some added extras
I have fab nails most of the time, but can't go near them with nail varnish as it cracks and splits them, any suggestions?
Also need support with loosing a little bit of weight. I am a 12/14 5ft 9 and have an athletic shape, straight up and down usually hide it under baggy clothes so want to try and achieve a waist !:o
Can't do perfume as I am allergic to it, but am going to try and make an effort every day!!!
Should be interesting this week though as I am starting a forest school project so will be in waterproofs, walking boots and a woolly hat!!! but I will have gorgeous eye make up on :rotfl:
Looking forward to joining in with you all

Choccymoose welcome to the thread
Morning ladies. Not much fabbing going on here. Zumba gone out of the window as I am on the go house training the dog and when she sleeps I tend either get my housework done or I sit and have a breather
However given the time to my hubbys 40th birthday party (7 weeks to be exact) I need to start taking things a bit more seriously and making the effort. So if you don't mind today is day one of mindful eating and I think it might help keep me on track is keep posting my day to day experiences on here.
Key to this is my relationship with chocolate. I've always bought a bar at a time (not just small bars) but Beyond Chocolate suggests that this sets up the idea of deprivation so last night I bought a whole load more chocolate. more than I could eat in any one day. I aim to keep this topped up to break the allure of the forbidden. If I feel chocolate in abundance then I shouldnt crave it like I used to. Well thats the theory at any rate. I will practice Paul McKennas tapping techniques for cravings for times when I know its emotional eating.
So my H for this is week is to learn I can have my cake and eat. Just not in the quantities I used to
This comes to my other worry. Now we have a dog everything will inevitably end up with dog hair on it in some format. I don't want to descend into living in dog walking clothes but they will need to be practical. I already live in jeans.....its one small step from living in a fleece
Anyway I have wittered on enough. have a fabulous Sunday everyone.
welsh woofer I am with you on the hormonesThey are the cause of my spot break outs every time
they sure are the bane of my life.....
inazuma I love heels, the higher the better. Gone as the days of me wearing 4 inch heels, I used to every day for walk but being at home they seem a bit OTT. I wish I could find some nice shoes with a smaller heel, say 2-3 inches but TBH what I see in the shops is either sky high or dare I say a very matronly looking court shoeI love the shoes in New Look but they are so impractical.
LL I just want to send you some gentle hugs in case you are lurking. Must feel like an emotional roller coaster for you, especially seeing your FIL and your H. Gut wrenching I imagine. I hope you can recoup, gather your strength and start again xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all!
Welcome to the newbies!
Back to work tomorrow and if I'm honest I'm quite looking forward to it - I get bored very quickly being at home, hence the decorating!
Today's fabbing will include a nice bath and all over moisturise, quick tidy of the nails and a defuzz. I bought some hair dye on half price offer yesterday and can't decide whether it really needs doing or whether to leave it until next weekend, its my least favourite job so it will probably end up getting left:o
I'll also try to sort out work clothes for the week, no excuse for scruffiness if its all ready to wear.
I'll also pop for a 6 min sunbed to finish off the course I bought - it really has helped my psoriasis patches (not recommended though;)).
Lots of boring schoolwork to do too - marking tests and assignments - yawn.......
One more H....
Have a go - since becoming separated (and divorced by the end of this week:T) my financial situation has changed considerably and there's just not the cash to pay for jobs around the house to be done like I used to. I've been forced to have a go myself at things and on the whole its turned out OK - I've managed grouting, resealing, decorating, putting furniture together, simple gardening (hate this though), dying my own hair.... the list is endless. I really have surprised myself and to be honest the satisfaction of doing it yourself is quite a boost to self esteem. I know some of these jobs may be trivial to others but I'd never done them before and thought I couldn't - you live and learn!
Right, dog walking time - hope everyone has a good day.0
