    Morning all,

Maman - that's just what I meant - if we go and visit somewhere we will make an effort to go out and see all the interesting sites there but often we don't bother with ones that are close to home. I know there are plenty of things here that I haven't seen yet after 2 years so think will have to try and make more of an effort
It's true, isn't it - Mr LW lived here for 12 years before he ever visited the local museum - it was only when I moved in with him, and he said it was there, and would I care to go; but as he says, it's not the same going on your own.

We saw "The Woman In Black" at the cinema yesterday; my CEA card expires on Saturday, so we got in under the wire for a free Carer's ticket.;) I've applied for a replacement, and hope it comes fairly quickly, as Mr LW wants to see "John Carter of Mars" when it's released. I'm not over-enthusiastic, and said if he went on his own it'd still only cost the same money as us both going, but he looked all crestfallen and said it wouldn't be the same without me, so I dare say I shall go and sit through an hour and a half of pure hokum.:rotfl:

I caught sight of myself in the lift mirror though, and despite wearing make-up, I was horrified how tired I looked. My eyes looked dreadful! Good job no-one can see you in the cinema!:D
The dog is now on a fabbing project too - he's too podgy and nearly 8 years old now so I don't want his weight to affect his health as he gets older. I went to Pets at Home yesterday and had consultation with a "weight management consultant" (read man that sells dog food!;)) and tentatively bought some 35% less fat additive free stuff - thought he'd hate it but turns out its yummy (for a dog anyway!). He's also started doggy bootcamp with me - a jog around the park today instead of a tootle round and is now flopped snoring on the sofa looking like a reject from Biggest Loser!
Awwww, bless him! I'm glad he likes his reduced-fat grub; so often, doggy diet-food is unappetising - one of my regular guests, Sidny, is diabetic, and from what I can make out, his food tastes like cardboard, poor chap. Please keep us (or me at least);) posted on doglet's fabbing progress.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Blame the lighting in the lift - I always look awful in them too - think its the fluorescent bulbs - don't do anyone any favours!

Just in case you're interested the dog food is Wainwrights Light (from Pets at Home) turkey and rice trays (12 in a big box). The pooch seems to think its the dog equivalent of caviar! Will keep you updated on the fabbing process - think its going to be slow going......

10,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Just for a few days .............

Today SIL is transferring FIL to her home in Scotland. She stopped off here along the way and we took FIL to see my OH (his son). Both of them were fully aware that this was "Goodbye". FIL was heartbroken, he was also devasted to see how frail his son has become. A very sad day.

Ladies - I can take no more, I'm done for.

I'm going to have a little break from posting on here, a little rest from life in general. I need to rest up and lick my wounds. I need peace and quiet. I need time out. Time for me to go on a mini-retreat. I'm going to drop off the face of the planet for a while - recharge my batteries and find some inner peace.

The world will still keep spinning without me for a few days;)

I'm going to spend next week just taking it very easy, nesting and pottering gently, visiting OH as and when. My diary is clear until next Thursday and will stay that way.

I will of course be lurking from time to time and keeping an eye on you all - no slacking. ;)

    Bye for now x

Adela, it's well documented that a lot of anti-depessants cause weight gain...the effects vary from one person to another....hope you can find one that doesn't do it to you. I'd chat to your doc about it, saying you've enough on your plate without the added stress of gaining unwanted poundage!

LL, I do hope that everything DWP will finally come together for you.... you sooo deserve it! ( It's taken me ages to write this post....two-fingered typist that I am...and have just read you very sad post about your FIL and OH. I'm sooo sorry to read of all this. DO take care...we're here when you need us. Lots of hugs and love to you lady.XXX:grouphug:

Hi Molly, good to "see" you! Like you I read every day but don't post often!

Congratulations on your new job Willow,:T hope it gives you a real boost!

Whew WW...they (the government) sure get their money's worth out of you!! I admire your dedication in wanting to help your pupils achieve their best! Well, at least now you'll be relaxing and bathing in luxury, after completing your barhroom fabbing project!!

Sparkles....what's a little old meringue and a hot chocky chaser between friends? and you so deserve it. I know that" good assignment pass mark" feeling!! And, you've probably more than run it off!!! Remember too, that you've probably gained muscle...and lost fat....so the scales will say you've STS! How are your clothes fitting you? A little looser perhaps?

verynewmoneysaver, really sorry to read about your parents' situation. I know how stessful and distressing it can be...my Dad had dementia after a stroke. I do hope you are able to find some source of help and advice .

Inazuma, when I was a kid, Bournemouth is where my parents and I went for our annual summer holidays..we lived in London. From what I remember, gorgeous sandy beaches, and long hot summers...ahhhh.

We will definately have to have a meet up if you come up here :D (sky might want to come as well?)

    Great....count me in!!!

Sooo agree with you and LW and Maman, about how rarely we visit our local "places of interest". It wasn't until I was 18 that I saw some of London's famous offerings, when American relatives visited!!

LW, what did you think of "The Woman In Black" ? Do you recommend it?

And  to all the rest of you lovely ladies!!

On the fabbing front, my "beauty" regimen is well established as I've been doing the same things for years. Diet is still one of extremely low -carbing/CR/ IFing and I'm doing well on that too. On the clothes front...fail!!! Still wearing my thermals and jogging bottoms...still too cold to be getting into skirts to sit in front of my lappie for most of the time!!! I did go to the shops today..it's gloriously sunny...but pretty chilly and "breezy" as is often the case here in Edinburgh!!LOL
    Right....back into reading mode!LOL

Sending love and support to LL and her family xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

LL - Bit worried about you, hope you can dig deep for some inner strength to get through this rough time, and remember the famous words
    Nil desperandum carburundum illegitami

Thank you so much for all your wonderful advice and for helping to keep me going. Hope you have a peaceful 'sabbatical' and return refreshed.

Not much to say other than take care of yourself LL .
As others have said, we're all here for you - if you ever need anything just let us know - PM any of us rather than post if you'd prefer to be more private.

Sometimes we all need to pull back and lick our wounds - now is the time for you.
Open a bottle of wine and a box of choccies, have a good cry, sulk, shout, tantrum - whatever makes you feel better and nurse yourself for a change.
Spend some time with your sons and lovely OH who all just want the best for you.

Thinking of you - you are an incredible lady. xxxx
  • i hope you feel better LL. look after yourself and we'll all be here if you need us. xx

learning to retreat occasionally and accept that i needed time to myself every now and again to sort my head out was one of the best lessons i ever learnt.
