LL - good to hear you had a sympathetic benefits lady - I think seeing someone face to face is far better than trying to sort things out on the phone - people are more "human" if you know what I mean. Fingers crossed that it works out for you now.

Been to work this morning (even though its half term) to do some revision classes for GCSE exams that will be held next week. Good job I coerced some other teachers to go in too as we had 160 kids turn up!!! :T:T Brilliant turn out - I don't work in a posh school in a posh area either, just a very well run high school where a lot of the staff just want to the kids to be the best they can be. Flipping exhausted now though!

Just back from the park with the dog - its like a summer's day here, warm and sunny. Its amazing how the sun can lift your mood isn't it? Most people looked relaxed and happy rather than grumpy and harassed - roll on summer!

Going to have a bit of a rest this afternoon I think, the bathroom is now finished and waiting for the new carpet and blind to be fitted on the weekend. I might do a bit of schoolwork later but then again I think I've done my fair share of chemistry for one day - I am supposed to be on holiday!

4 mile run this morning for todays fabbiness - it was very warm at 6am today!

Also STS on the weight loss so at least with all the overeating that's gone on I haven't gained and I will try really hard to lose this final kg if not next week, by the week after. I will do because I'm sick of keep repeating this sentence each week!

  • Well done on your run fedupandskint. It was such a beautiul day today up here in North Wales. Went to Chester a to M&S and bought a dress to wear to DH's 60th next month. Just a simple black one but I figured I might get a lot of wear out of it. Should have gone for a walk really but since we lost the dog last year a walk doesn't seem the same. Glad the benefit's lady was helpful LL. My dad has not settled at all in the sheltered housing and wants to move out so that Mum can look after him again. Of course he won't realise that Mum has heart failure,osteo-porosis, dizzyness and poor mobility. Even the doctor said she shouldn't go but of course the social workers say she should go if she wants to. She doesn't really want to but feels it her duty to look after Dad. I am so worried. Both of them are also geting confused now, especially Dad.I haven't room to take them both in, and I work part-time so couldn't be there all the time.

It's strange but we all seem to neglect what's on the doorstep. Reading pod's post I remembered thoroughly enjoying things in Edinburgh as a tourist. I loved the galleries and museums and hot houses at the Botanical Gardens are certainly worth a visit at this time of the year. Where I am, we have the sea and New Forest on the doorstep but I find at this time of the year I get really down and can't motivate myself to do much. If I've promised someone else, I'll go but left to myself I won't. I think that's why we get so many requests for the proverbial 'kick up the bum' on the thread. We know that we should be doing something but getting motivated to do it is a different story.

Went out to lunch yesterday with some of DH's family. It was a bit of a duty thing to celebrate an uncle's birthday but enjoyable all the same. Got nice compliments on both weightloss and my lovely (£1:D) CS rust, velvet skirt. So, I'm keeping up the fabbing at least.

Glad your induction went well willow. Is it next week you start proper?

Having an easyish day at home today. Back soon.

Maman, I live in Bournemouth so quite close to New Forest too - great for walks. We used to do walk then pub lunch, but they've just got so expensive. Now we do walk and sandwiches in the car!

:Twell done sparkles, life is really good for you at the moment. You've come such a long way, it's great to hear.
(that was a calorie free meringue, I hope?)

That's a really good idea inazuma, something I usually only think of after the event. So we go to the seaside, then see others with a flask and picnic in their cars and think 'why didn't I do that?' Thank's for refreshing my memory.

    Damn the bl**dy Social Workers.

Intervene, tell them to butt out and stop bullying your mother. Her doctor knows best. They are not medically qualified and have no jurisdiction or rights to try and persuade or leverage your mum like that.

Given your mum's own medical issues - it will be at best an accident waiting to happen, more likely an unmitigated disaster. She will either fall or collapse. The last thing she needs is a broken hip. She's done her duty.
  • Thanks LL. Mum is waiting to be assessed by the doctors and nurses at the Falls Clinic. Hopefully someone there can change persuade her to stay where she is. Well done on your assigment fedup!

    Morning all,

Maman - that's just what I meant - if we go and visit somewhere we will make an effort to go out and see all the interesting sites there but often we don't bother with ones that are close to home. I know there are plenty of things here that I haven't seen yet after 2 years so think will have to try and make more of an effort - know what you mean about the lack of motivation at this time of year though :o Glad you got some nice compliments!

LL - I might have a look at them, not sure how far away they will be, remember when I was little my mum and dad booked us on one, we went meant to be going somewhere close by and the park was closed down so they offered us an alternative, my mum thought it was Whitby which was a little further then she'd wanted to go but not bad - ended up being Whitley which was another good few hours off :rotfl:Haven't tried youth hostels either, not so keen on the dorm style sleeping - though I do think quite a few of them seem to be having smaller rooms now. There is one I was looking at, it's further up north from me and is an actual castle that they've turned into a youth hostel - that one did tempt me :) So glad you seem to have got a nicer benefits person, fingers crossed things can start getting sorted out.
We will definately have to have a meet up if you come up here :D (sky might want to come as well?) Am sure you can fnd some cheapish flights or the train is quite cheap if you book when the advance tickets come on sale.

WW - how great that so many kids showed up to put some extra time in! Glad you had some extra help for it though.

verynew - how stressful for you, it's disgusting that the social workers can just ignore offical medical advice - I assume for the sake of saving a few bucks

Sparkles - well done on the assignment :T

Anyway, bit tired today, eye is still bothering me (though thankfully not as icky and red looking today) so haven't worn make-up all week as didn't want to irritate it. Had a couple of drinks and played a few games with OH last night, was mostly a good night except he made a random comment that really upset me - think perhaps I'm being a little oversensitive lately, I don't know. Annoyed as well as he didn't even realise how it came across, he came in to see me after and said sorry, I said, 'what are saying sorry for' and he had no clue *sighs*
Friend of ours is coming round tonight for a few drinks, he's just split up with his long term girlfriend so is a bit down at the moment and needs cheering up a little. Think they might be going to a party one of their friends is throwing later on, is only a few streets away, but don't think will bother with that bit, don't know him very well and won't know a lot of people there so will stay in and get a bit of peace.
Been looking at getting a website, have been messing on some of the free sites that give you templates - not very technical that way at all but some of them do seem quite simple so hopefully can get something sorted.

    Morning all!
Last proper day of my week off (don't count the weekend) - its gone sooo quickly!
The carpet fitter that was supposed to be coming tomorrow has just rung to ask if he can come today instead as I'm his only job tomorrow and he'd like a day off - fibbed a bit and said I wasn't in until this afternoon to give me a hour or two to finish off a few jobs and get to the cashpoint to pay him but it will be done today, an end to the mess - hurrah!:T

The dog is now on a fabbing project too - he's too podgy and nearly 8 years old now so I don't want his weight to affect his health as he gets older. I went to Pets at Home yesterday and had consultation with a "weight management consultant" (read man that sells dog food!;)) and tentatively bought some 35% less fat additive free stuff - thought he'd hate it but turns out its yummy (for a dog anyway!). He's also started doggy bootcamp with me - a jog around the park today instead of a tootle round and is now flopped snoring on the sofa looking like a reject from Biggest Loser!

Right better get those jobs done - will report in with my own fabbing efforts later - hope everyone has a good day. Fab Friday!!
