LL you are better off using make up to make your brows and lashes look fuller, alopechia (sp?) sites have a lot of tips for using eyeshadow to create natural brows.

Liz Jones does my head in

I'm feeling rather hacked off. I've had no wheat/gluten today but still having some sort of reaction. Puffy lower face (i know it's puffy because i can see my end-of-day foundation line without pulling a double chin face :rotfl:), loads of mucus and it gets harder to breath. GAAAARRRRRR!!! I called my Dad and he just isn't surprised, he says it could be anything as almost everyone in his family is allergic to something. I'll call the doc tomorrow morning and see if they can suggest anything :(Bath time after this episode of One Born Every Minute and that's my fab for the day!

Thanks for kind words LL. I'm sure I have a version of SAD. You're right I need to revisit some of my plans and push myself a bit harder. A bit of fresh air would help but it's sooo cold so tending to flop about indoors.

So sorry about the allergies adelight. Is it something you've always had or do new ones crop up?

I'm hoping to be brighter tomorrow.

Hi Adelight - definitely get in touch with your dr asap. Sounds as if your airways are constricting in response to an allergic reaction. This used to happen to DS1 when he ate something that triggered an allergic reaction, lips would swell within seconds and face would get puffy, eyes would start to close.

I'm afraid we are a bit of an "allergic" family too. :rotfl:

You could try anti-histamines in the meantime but obviously this does need further investigation. Could be gluten - could be anything. Hope you get a quick appointment.

adelight - sorry to hear about the allergies, I hope the dr can suggest something

podperson - she can't seem to help herself, she's been told to butt out, both subtly and not so subtly and she still butts in. She got an earful off me on Tuesday though, she gave us the wrong address for his brother and then (after they've all been posted mind) said oh I gave you the wrong address for A's invite, sure you can take mine and take it apart and redo blah blah. I said, what those invites it took me something 20 hours to do you want me to rip it apart??!?!?!

Anyway, this stressing out is not good for me, I can feel my heart rate speeding up and that sick feeling in my stomach so decided no thinking about it. Now my wrist is better I'm going to do some yoga when I get home, and paint my nails and in general relax and unwind.

    Morning all,

!!!!!! - sorry you're feeling a bit down at the moment, try not to be so hard on yourself, you have a lot to deal with and it sounds like you are doing great. I'm perhaps got this muddled but do you and your hubby swop shifts to stay with your son? Could you perhaps try doing alternate nights so one of you can try and get a full nights sleep? Or like Sky said maybe taking a nap during the day. Are there perhaps are support groups in your area where you might be able to have a chat with other mums going through similar things? Anyway, feel free to vent to us anytime, sending you virtual *hugs*

Sky - hmm, some people are definately not morning people :D I thought the 'normal' people at the end looked much better then the overly made up writers though.

Maman - nothing wrong with a little bit of retail therapy once in a while :) A friend of mine has quite bad SAD and she has one of those lightboxes, think you can get normalish looking lamps with them in now as well.

LL - Interesting info about facelifts, hopefully am a way off needing one but must admit can't see myself ever really wanting to do that to myself :o Glad the plans seem to be starting well.

Adelight - sounds very annoying, hope you're feeling a little better today, definately get onto the doctor, he should be able to send you for allergy testing so they might be able to pinpoint what you need to avoid.

Bratz - she does sound like a bit of nightmare (you sure you want to be 'officially' related to her? :rotfl:) I guess will just have to go back to the 'smile and nod' and then just whatever you want :D Hope you managed to relax a bit.

Ended up not having to go to the venue last night as there were four of them going already (though might have been nice if they told me before I'd rushed home :rotfl:) so had a few hours peace. It seems to be mayhem in my house at the moment, they are trying to submit a film to the film festival but still haven't finished the edit/sound etc so panicking and working all hours on it. Were meant to finish last night so they could post this morning for Monday deadline but still weren't happy with it - so silly me mentioned they could do next day recorded on Saturday morning, then when they checked the address it's actually fairly close by so they could drop it in on Monday morning. I wouldn't mind for some of it they need two monitors so getting them constantly coming in and pulling my computer apart - so got a few hours and then gave up and let them have it while I went back to old fashioned pen and paper. Apparently I have a 'special thanks' mention on the credits though for putting up with them :rotfl:Got a bit done anyway but not much fabbing, really must get sorted this weekend. Really tired this week as well, on the energy drinks this morning so can't be a good sign. Still it's Friday - I think I may treat myself to a nice long lie-in tomorrow :D
  • Good morning all.

Well technically it's Fab Friday - time to glam up.

However, given the weather I think we can just settle for being warm today. A bit of lippy and a squirt of perfume can be your nod to fabness and glamour. Otherwise just get out those thermals, hats, scarves, gloves etc. :rotfl::rotfl:

Have just spent a couple of hours trawling through the motorbility stuff re wheelchair accessible vehicles and/or adaptations. Any ideas or experience with these anyone. Think I will post on the Disability Board and get some feedback from other users.

Have booked a couple of demos of various types of equipment etc. It's going to be a long haul:( - just like anything else that has to do with disability solutions etc.

DS2 off today so going to visit OH later to set up his phone. Also going to borrow DS2's muscles to help me a buy a rug I've seen in Costco.

Wheelchairs and equipment have ruined my lovely wooden floor, especially in the lounge. It will need resanding and refinishing at some point, but given that I intend to do some building work next year, I've decided to go for a quick fix solution for now - namely a bigger rug:rotfl: Nice and easy.

I've also booked my "naughty girl's course" - aka a driver's speed awareness course. That way I get to avoid 3 points on my driver's licence.

If it were just for me I wouldn't bother, I'd just pay the fine and be done with it - however if I can keep my clean licence then DS2 can still put me on his insurance as a named driver because this substantially reduces his insurance. Oh what webs we weave.

    Anyway off to get cracking.

Have a good day, keep warm, keep smiling.

  • Interestingly, SIL just emailed a slideshow of photos from the family party we went to a couple of weeks ago. I'd had my hair done that day and it looked really good. In fact, although I say it myself I looked really good:o All this fabbing is working.:j I did look a bit pale though so really need to think about foundation. Like LL, I don't bother in the summer as get a bit of natural tan on early holiday and top it up with a little fake if needed. In the winter I look so pale but being new to most make up I've only ventured as far as tinted moisturiser and tanning powder on top. My huge dread is that I use foundation and it settles into wrinkles (er...laughter lines;)) round eyes. Any thoughts?.[/QUOTE]

Yay on the looking and feeling great Maman!:D as regards to the foundation have you tried using a primer at all? apologies if someone else has already suggested this as I know I'm catching up still! I find it helps to even things out and help the foundation go on a bit smoother iyswim?

Someone at my work makes constant comments about my weight, including one about my well padded bahookie, so I should be joining you on the posting lbs!

(except today, in a fit of depression, i ate cake. Lots of it)

aww that's so mean:mad: try and remind yourself that it's because they have an empty, flat, hollow life and being petty, ugly and making someone else feel bad is the only aproximation of feeling happy they get! because for a fleeting moment they can kid themselves that they are "better"

don't let em get you down- and just wait til you are all fabbed and feeling great- I predict snarky comments/nose out of joint/not knowing what to say:D

podperson - thanks for the comments. To be honest they've really ruined the planning and excitement for us, we're just desperate to get it over with and that's not how I wanted to feel 4 months before my wedding :(

LL and maman - thanks also for the kind words. You're both completely right, why do family think it's all about them, surely it's the bride and groom's day as without them there'd be no wedding!

evilsquid - sorry your wedding was messed up by family too and thanks for the advice to watch them on the day - that hadn't even occurred to me.

I just got a txt from mil2b asking me to check whether I'd remembered to post h2b's brother (different brother) and his wife's invite. I was torn between txting back "f**k off" and "they know my number get them to txt me instead of sticking your big beak in" but managed to restrain it to "of course I did". She then replied with ha ha post must be slow. Sigh

Oh Bratz! I hope you can take a step back and get excited again! I went through very similar issues- it seems like many of us have:eek: whenever anyone asked me how the plans were going for mine my stock reply was "weddings make people CRAZY!"

I won't bore you with all the nonsense that went on- we'd be here all day! but it included DH (not the most confrontational of people at all- so laid back it's ridculous) jumping in the car and drving down the M4 to tell his sis and Mum to back off after I was screamed at for daring to choose my dress without involving them....and a rather eventful few clashes with My Mum where some lace table cloths almost drove me to a breakdown!!!

we decided to focus on a couple of things that WE really wanted- the content of the ceremony, who was doing readings and the music we wanted for the ceremony and the evening and let them argue the rest amongst themselves in the end- I've got a HUGE family and DH's wanted to put "their" stamp on things too....there are things that I'd have liked to do differently ( not having my cousin's Devil child forced in as a flower girl on the day after me saying NO repeatedly for one!) but the wedding was lovely, we had fun in the evening and danced plenty, we had the people we loved with us and ignored the rest!

remember that at the end you will have your lovely OH as your DH and that really is what it's all about!

sending you a hug and some positive vibes hunny

    xx
