    Hi Ladies

Just a quick reminder - tomorrow is Fab Friday - so get out those glad rags and get fabbed up.

Hoping to have a run up to the Peak District tomorrow with DS2 - depends on the weather of course. I've got some rare books I want to sell and there is a dealer up there.

Mrs W - the new business idea sounds great, there are lots of applications for lasers and I'm sure there's huge potential. If I was a wealthy Dragon I would invest in you. And then we'd both make a fortune.:D

Not yet - but later - one of my plans is to look at ethical, sustainable, energy efficient building. DS1 works in alternative fuel research and he shares my interest in "Green Building". Somewhere along the line I aim to get back into property development. DS2 wants to join me and DS1 could probably come on board as a "Green" consultant.

I've lots of ideas in that line. I already always use Eco Friendly paints and materials on my small projects. For me that's the way to go.

Sorry to hear that so many of your family members are ill - such a worry for you. Now that your work load should ease for a while - time to rest a little and focus on you.

Tru & Willow - looking good on the job fronts:D - will be rooting for you both.

Allie - re the OCM I think it's really trial and error - just seeing what works best for you. Like you I always just use Grapeseed oil - you could add essential oils to meet your needs.

I think twice daily would be excessive. Also I would start gently - say 3 times a week to begin with and see how you go. I think it might be best to let you skin "acclimatise" - IYSWIM.

    Frugal Fabness

Well yes - that's what we are all about - so yes ladies - all tips welcome.

For myself I try to make as many potions as I can using aroma therapy oils. Very cheap but more to the point - only natural ingredients - no nasty chemicals. I've just washed a load of glass bottles - ready to make another batch.

I also use shops like Poundland, B&M, Home Bargains, Wilkinsons, Boots with vouchers.

I find Tesco's Skin Wisdom range pretty good, they also do Barbara Daly makeup which is an excellent budget range. Aldi also do a great range of skin care.

Unfortunately our lovely Soap Factory shop has now gone out of business:eek: so I've decided to have a go at making my own soap - again to avoid nasties. I'll let you know how I get on. ;)

Both Sophistica and my OH have told me in the last couple of days that my hair colour isn't flattering me and that it's making me look rather washed out.

Now I stopped colouring it myself because I was starting to get an allergic reaction. I have had it done at the salon where they use only natural products but I would really like to have a go at doing it myself again. It would save me quite a bit of money.

Now I've searched the websites and come across a few products. Has anyone ever used those totally natural hair dyes (not henna - it would come out orange on my white hair). I was thinking a light soft brown/dark blonde.

What do you think - would they give sufficient coverage on white hair. I would say that my hair is at least 80% white/20% a sort of pewter grey - with the grey mainly at the back.

evilsquid - sorry to hear about your throat. Do take care. I used to suffer dreadfully. I eventually caved in when I was 39 and had them out. My tonsils were completely shot to pieces because of the sheer number of infections I'd had. We'd reached the stage where anti-biotics were no longer effective and I really had no choice but to have surgery.

Surgery wasn't pleasant but TBH it was one of the best things I've ever done. I've been clear of infection ever since and I've been much healthier as a result.

Rosetta - sorry to hear about your impending Op. Hope it's nothing too nasty. We'll all be wishing you well and a speedy recovery.

Right - feeling tired, my lovely warm bed is calling, so will curl up with a good book and hopefully a nice long sleep.

    G'night all x
  • Morning All,

Sorry to hear so many of you are feeling poorly or are dealing with some sad news.

Mrs Wolfe, sending your family positive vibes and virtual hugs.

Tru, congratulations on the job. That's excellent news.

Willow, isn't the worst part about job interviews the waiting to hear. I have my fingers crossed. What job did you apply for. It sounds like one of those interviews for the big finance companies.

Well my fabbing has pretty much ground to a hault. My hot water pipes have frozen, so I have to go round to friends houses to shower. With it being -15*C outside, im not really in the mood to do any fabbing once I get back from a shower after work each evening.

Tonight though, I have some friends coming over for, dinner, snacks, tea, coffee and knitting. Which will be great. I actually really like having people over at my place, it forces me to tidy up and I feel more comfortable in my own home.

I am quite inspired by everyone's business ventures that I think its about time I really kicked myself into gear, sorted out my website and started trying to market it in some way.

Well, its Friday, so at least for most of us, the weekend is hear and we can relax a bit. Keep warm everyone and take care.

    I'm having a Fab Friday

Go up early, nipped to the supermarket before work. For work have worn a skirt I couldn't get into before which is now too big and tucked a jumper in for the first time EVER with a waist belt to try and hold it in place!

Then had a weigh in at work and have lost 2lbs! Only 1 more to go and at 2nd target weight - happy all the hard work has paid off now!

Smiling away after I also took my measurements this morning and have lost another 1/2 inch from my waist and hips

Tonight is long run and hoping this rounds off a fab Friday nicely! Hope you all have a happy fabbing day too! Whatever it takes, small steps or large, just try one and see

    Morning all,

Evilsquid - hope you're feeling a little better today

Mrs W - I'm so sorry to hear about your niece and the whole family, it just seems so unfair sometimes that some people have so much to try and cope with :( Hope you manage to enjoy your weekend at least. I must admit am a little annoyed with OH for inviting, he says he 'mentioned' it to me earlier - er, yes you did and I wasn't too impressed with the idea then either  Perhaps I'm just being a little oversensitive and should try harder to get on with them, plus they might not definately come - apparently they are going to see a band or something so if they do come it will be 'later' (lovely!) The business idea sounds really interesting and can definately see how there could be a market for it - I think you will probably regret it if you don't at least try and am sure there will be lots of planning going into it so not like you'd be jumping into something blindly. Fingers crossed for you :D

Watty - glad you enjoyed the pilates, keep thinking I should look for a yoga/pilates style class - I'm sure I can fit it in somewhere :rotfl:

Bratz - hun, you seem to have kind of luck as me when it comes to fabbing :rotfl:My cat has actually seemed to twig (eventually!) that she's not to come near me when I'm doing my nails. I usually do sat on the bed watching tv so she gets shooed away if she's anywhere on the bed now. Must redo mine actually sometime this weekend.

Rosetta - I'm just the same with new hairdressers, I think I'm just too fussy and then I don't like to say anything if I don't like it - which I should do really :o Hope your op goes ok - and it's not anything too serious x

Adelight - I would have thought people would prefer private tutoring, at least for maths but guess that shows what I know! Matched betting is basically taking advantage of the 'free bets' that lots of bookmakers give. You bet with the bookies and then you 'lay' the same bet with an exchange (so you're basically acting as the bookie for that one). Whichever way it goes you 'balance' out by winning at one of them, so you get to pocket the 'free bet' money. There's a good guide on the Gambling forum on the sticky at the top, feel free to poke me if you have any questions.

Elfen - yay on the weight loss :j

Willow - sounds like it went well, fingers crossed x

allie - I think the OCM is generally suggested for only 2-3 times a week as it can dry your skin out - but I guess it's trial and error what works for you.

findingmyway - how annoying about the pipes  Do you have outside ones or something? Hope you have a fun night - ooh and what is your business/website about (apologies if you have said before, there are so many of now I lose track sometimes :o). I keep thinking I need to sort out a website but need time to sit down and try and figure out how some of the free ones work.

Anyway, it's Friday at least, though must admit felt knackered this morning and rather tempted to have a 'duvet day'. Managed another 1000 words last night and had a bit of a chill with OH. Meant I didn't have time to do my nails or the hair conditioning I was going to though - ah well, shall get round to it this weekend. He's still in his 'positive' mood - which is good if a little exhausting at times :rotfl:and since I said I wanted to try and get back into the photography is going to get me one of the shiny top of the range cameras out from his uni for me to have a play with :D He does really want me to get involved with them all, and I suppose it does make sense as they don't have many people who actually write. Anyways, hope everyone has a good day x

Morning all this beautiful Fab sunny Friday. Yes its fffffreezing out there but it looks so pretty with all the frost.

Just had a healthy brunch, wholemeal seeded toast and lovely scrambled fresh farm eggs. Just about to set off with DS2 to see if we can sell these books. I need his muscles to carry them. :rotfl:

I have now decided no more risking heavy weights etc for my back - it just isn't worth it. Use my sons' muscles whenever possible. As my OH always says - "Why have a dog and bark yourself".

Mrs W- hope you're OK today - hope there's some better news soon. We expect our parents to get sick at some point, there's a 50% chance that our partners will get sick before we do. However, when it's a baby or child it just seems so unfair and unjust.

I too am looking into setting up websites/blogs etc - watch out cyberspace - the Fab women are about to launch themselves:rotfl::rotfl:

Fab women unite - the world is our lobster.

    As Bitsy says "Let's Kick A**" ;)

Now for a quick couple of "'Fs".

Feeling Fantastic - The Feel Good Factor

How we feel determines how we do, how we are. You know - if you feel good - you look good.

So when we don't feel good how can we make ourselves feel better.

I believe that it is possible to improve how we feel by fixing our thinking.

    Thinking=feeling=action

    So first Fix Your Head

If you want to achieve success - in anything - diets, work, academia, personal relationships - you must first get your head in the right place.
If your head is in the wrong place - you'll fail - simple as. You'll find excuses, you'll procrastinate, you'll give up when the pressure mounts.

Start to think positively, dont dwell on the negatives.

Example - you're unemployed - you've got no money - what do you have. TIME. Oh I wish I had more of that. I'm 60. Time is the one thing I don't have a whole lot of left.

Time to do stuff, time to get fit, time to sort yourself out, time to have some fun, time for yourself to just "be". All of that is free.

One of the best ways to help you get your head in the right place is to wake up your body. Get those endorphins kicking in.

So .............every morning - get up 10 minutes earlier than you need to. Then, put on one piece of your favourite upbeat uptempo music and dance. Just for the length of that one piece of music. Move around, dance yourself silly and wake up that body.

Sounds daft and a bit new age.?

Who cares. It makes me feel good. Try it.

For advanced "Fixing Your Feelings" - we'll look at NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming - when we get to the "Ns".;)

    Have a Fab Friday.

No duvets allowed - unless you're practically a stretcher case.

Told you I was going to start cracking the whip.:rotfl::rotfl:

Well done on the 1000 words. Just keep at it. The photography sounds great - photos and words - wow - you go girl.

    Just a quick catch up.

Have a lovely time in the Peaks LL. It's beautiful here too, so as long as the car has a good heater you'll be fine! Hope the dealer offers a good price.

Well done on weightloss sparkles! Funnily enough I put a skirt on (too big) earlier in the week and wore my new elastic belt from Peacocks to cinch it in. It's a great feeling.

Dressed for warmth at the moment but just off to change into Friday fabness for...yet another meeting!

    Back later.
  • thank you podperson! it seems to have morphed into a head cold now. i must be the only person chuffed to get a cold :rotfl:

i hope your pipes get sorted findingmyway! that happened to us two years ago when we had the really bad snow. coincided nicely with my uni exams too! we all had to shower at the gym and we were without heat for 2 weeks while the insurance company dragged their heels over wether the emergency policy covered fixing it. in the end my parents paid for british gas to come sort it out because they got fed up of freezing!
  • have any of you tried this before? apparently using conditioner then shampoo gives you amazing hair. i might have to try it next time i have a shower and see what it does! http://nomoredirtylooks.com/2012/02/how-to-wash-your-hair-backwards-have-you-ever-tried-it/
