Told you I was going to start cracking the whip.:rotfl::rotfl:
Well done on the 1000 words. Just keep at it. The photography sounds great - photos and words - wow - you go girl.
LL - I was good and went in - just would have rather had an extra hour in bed this morning :rotfl:I have lots of things I would like to do - the writing, photography, drawing/art etc but are all quite creative fields which are usually very competitive and basically overflowing with people in my position. It's the figuring out how to make some money from things like that that I'm struggling with a little at the moment.
Whereabouts in the Peak District are you headed? I used to live near the top end of them, Pendle area, some lovely countryside. Hope you have an enjoyable (and productive!) run out there.0 -
Evilsquid - glad it's just a cold, hopefully will clear up soon. I am definately going to give the backwards hair wash a try and see what happens - says is really good for long hair0
-
podperson - wow I wish I could train my cat to not come near me! He's so affectionate and half blind so he can't always see when you're shooing him off.
LL - I make my own soap so if you need help let me know.
I got more supplies in the post this week so have been able to crack on making more soap for the wedding favours - each person is getting a heart shaped soap to match in with the romantic theme. I didn't get time to do much fabbing apart from the makeup and perfume on, but we did go and give notice and make soap so I think I can be let off, right??carpe diem

Hi
Can I join in with you all please.
My problem is I begrudge spending money on myself. Im happy to spend on others though. Ive started to feel a mess, havnt had my hair cut for over a year (just tie it back) and live in my tracksuit. Before I came across this thread I had decided to change. Always wear perfume, go jogging, wear nice clothes more often and tracksuit less often lol. Have bought some trainers so no excuses and also a hilarious book called "run fat B!tch run (the only personal trainer youll ever need apparently) Supposed to be really funny but not had chance to read yet as it only arrived today. Have bought a few nice clothing items with my christmas and birthday money and am considering booking hair appointment as I feel thats needed now. Usually just get a friend or dd to trim it but I would like my style back. Just worried if I go too short I dont have the option to tie it up anymore. What do you think xCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & never give up.0 -
Hello all!
Not been around for a few days - its just been bonkers at work, another parents evening, lots of other stuff and I'm feeling decidely Frazzled!
But its the weekend and I've finished work and taken the dog to the freezing park for a run around and feel a bit better now I've had a glass of wine!
Lots of news from you all- good and bad - if I tried to mention you all I'd have the longest post ever - just suffice to say good luck to the new job/potential new job people, sympathies to those that are ill or have poorly family members and yeah to those still doing well on the fab front.
Completely forgot it was fab Friday but I have defintey made more effort since I joined you so every day is a little bit "fabber" than it was before.
The good news is that since having the norovirus I haven't put any weight back on so that means that I lost just over half a stone (some by effort some by accident!) in January and seem to have stabilised. I only wanted to lose 10 lbs or so - just a few lbs to go now.
Sleeping is still rubbish and I'm feeling a bit kn*ckered but it doesn't normally last for ever so I'm hoping I'll get back to normal soon.
This weekend I'm going to try to have a bit of an overhaul (not managed much in the way of fabbing this week) and will report back tomorrow with a plan of attack.
PS Hope you're ok LoneWolf - come back...... we miss you0 -
Had a lovely day out - Cromford, Matlock etc. Nice lunch with DS2.
Unfortunately - although it was a lovely day it wasn't productive at all. Dealer wasn't interested in the books (Complete Works of Dickens - illustrated hardback 1932 edition). Never mind will try Plan B, either Ebay or an auction house.
Also looked for a coffee table - couldn't find what I wanted at a price I wanted to pay. Again will just need to keep looking.
Tonight is the start of Operation Get Orgainised
Going to start first with the paperwork, desk, filing cabinets etc . Now there's an elephant for you:o
First a pre-sort out to get rid of the obvious, shredding etc. then go through the pending, then a drawer each day. I'm going to apply my 1 hr a day rule until it's all done.
Welcome cjj - you seem to have got off to a very good start - agree getting your hair sorted is a real boost.
PP - I know what you mean about making money from "creativity".
I recently up cycled a Welsh Dresser, it looks lovely. Laura Ashley have something very similar at £600 but unless I had either a fancy show-room in a very upmarket location or the big name behind me I probably wouldn't be able to ask for even half that amount.
Many years ago I wore an outfit to work that I had made. Someone asked me why I didn't turn professional and would I make them a suit. When I told them how much I would need to charge them for my time - I simply worked out my then current hourly rate as a lowly paid accounts clerk - they were aghast. I didn't even add NI, electricity, rates, costs or anything of that nature.
It is a very tricky one to compute - especially when you think you are competing against Third World or Eastern Block pay scales. It's no wonder everything is outsourced now.
My view is - you have to go really high end/niche market to even stand a chance of making a living. As a hobby/sideline business you might make a bit but I really don't see how you can make a decent living.
If you find a way - please let me know.:rotfl:
Right - no more procrastinating. Time to have dinner and then start that wretched paperwork.:(:rotfl:0 -
evilsquid yes it's brilliant if you have fine hair. I do that pretty much everytime I wash my hair and sometimes use a tiny bit of conditioner on my ends after shampooing as well.
cjj welcome to the thread! find a college student or a "model day" at a salon where they'll do you a cheap cuti wouldn't go too short so you can still tie it up when needs be.
bratz wow that's a lovely idea for wedding favours! what's your recipe? what flavours are you making? etc etc
Goooood evening everybody! Well for those who don't read the OS board, last night I cooked a plastic bowl and today I got my first semester results (a very comfortable first so plenty of room for error this semester and i shall graduate with a first in maths wahoooo).
I'm not really in the mood to exercise but my eating has been very good today(berries & yogurt for brekkie, berries and almond butter sandwiches for lunch, veggie juice for a snack) so I'll let it slide. Need to defuzz tonight and face mask. My mini break out is now under control, tea tree oil wasn't working very well so ended up using topical salicylic acid and it's worked a treat. Didn't want to resort to acid but ho hum.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Ok, went for a bit of a rubbish run after work and cut the distance down after it became very very cold out there. Now warmed up after a pampering bath, plenty of moisturiser and oils. Now with a warming hot chocolate and then bed as super tired now!
