findingmyway wrote: »Hi everyone.
Well I am back after 2 weeks away in Japan. Staying in hostels, and moving around every 2 or 3 days doesnt allow for much fabbing. As I am an extremely shy person, and will not be walking around in my underwear in front of strangers, even moisturing rarely happened.I did however put perfume on every day.
I traveled by myself, and feel such a sense of accomplishment navigating subway systems, asking for helping, lugging bags around, and even talking to new people, so I suppose that can all count as fabbing.
.
Wow - go you!!!
That sounds absolutely fantastic.
Finding your way round in such an "alien" environment where you can only hazard a guess at what the signs are saying because they don't even use the same alphabet is amazing.
Your definitely live up to your nom de plume.
And yes, it definitely counts as fabbing in my book.;)0 -
This is for adelight, podperson and anyone else who might be interested in my trip.
I'm living in South Korea at the moment so it was only a two hour flight to Tokyo. I stayed in Tokyo, went down to Hiroshima and then to Kyoto before heading back home.
Its my first solo trip, I usually travel with friends but realised that so often my friends are unreliable when it comes to these sort of things, and where I want everything booked and planned beforehand, they only think about buying their plane tickets a week beforehand. So I took the plunge and went by myself.
Despite not knowing the language, I was so surprised at how well signposted everything was, and just how helpful people were. Everytime someone saw me with a map out looking rather lost they came up to me and offered to help, despite barely being able to communicate.
Compared to Korea I felt like I was in a western country, and ate far too much delicious food from all over the world. So bitsy I can relate to you regarding food and not getting it under control. Tokyo is a big city, with not all that many sites that I think you have to see, rather just areas just to check out because they are so different. There is an area I would equate to Camden, where teenagers are often see dressed up as their favourite anime character.
Hiroshima was just incredibly interesting, they have an excellent museum all about the atomic bomb attack. It is just amazing to see the foresight they had when rebuilding an entire city that was demolished. Extending the roads, improving the layout of the city, all when it was still in crisis.
I wont bore you anymore. I will post a link later on, if anyone wants to some of photos.
Fab wise, its -10 here today, so I look like the Michalin man. It was lovely to go home, spend half an hour in my own shower and walk around my flat in my bath robe for a few hours after trying to hurridly get dressed in a cramped bathroom while still wet. :rotfl::rotfl:
Lamewolf, I hope you continue to post. I really do enjoy your posts, they are always so well written.
Have an excellent day everyone.0 -
FMW, thanks for the lovely post, a lovely country to visit I think.
LW, we all have a different slant on life and how we live it and are effected by it, some can deal with it better than others. Nothing wrong with lurking but please continue to post also0 -
Oops, not sure what happened there?0

A Fistful of "F's"........
I've noticed that some of us (me too) have become a little fluffy of late. Our goals and aims have become fuzzy and we have been guilty of fudging the issues at stake.
Let's just put it down to January blues and move on.
Fade all that into the background.
Today is the first day of February and it's time to Focus.
To set new goals, new objectives. Here's mine for February.
Focus on my fatness - lose 4lbs
Focus on my flexibility - yoga
Focus on my fitness - walk and dance
Focus on my flabby muscles - weight train
Focus on my face - facial exercises and facials
But most importantly of all this month I need to Focus on my finances - they are f****d - A very naughty "F" there:D
Sorry to offend but that really is the best way to describe my financial reality.
I need to focus on my financial situation and stop fannying around.
You will notice that from my signature that last month I managed to raise £705. This month I'm upping my game and going for £1000.
Ladies I need to forget all the "fluff" that surrounds me, "fade" it into the background and "focus on me".
Ladies you now need to do the same - just "Focus on You"0 -
Morning all,
evilsquid - she is adorable, and looks like she is seriously enjoying that pizza
Lizzie - you should definately go to London, will be fun for you to see a new place with your daughter and so much to see there. I went last summer for the first time in maybe 10 years and was a little worried, OH was even worse as he has anxiety problems and was picturing all sorts I think. Then he ended up loving it more then me - it was quite funny as he'd stated beforehand that he really didn't want to go on the tube, hated the idea etc. and then when I dragged him on it as it was loads quicker he sussed it twice as fast as me and we caught it everywhere after that. Am sure you will be fine as well and have a great time x
Maman - glad you're keeping up with fabbing and loving the outfit planning - I'm trying to do it more but I usually end up running round in a tizzy in the morning as I'm late and can't find what I'd been wanting to wear - must start doing the night before I think. Hope the sleep sorts itself out x
Bratz - I do agree with you, I've been told all sorts by 'professionals' that I know aren't best for my skin/hair etc. They often seem to have a 'one size fits all' plan which obviously doesn't really work. Not to mention the fact that they are in business so do want to get money out of you
LW - I would echo what everyone is saying, please don't stop posting. I know you second guess a bit (trust me, can very guilty of that as well) but no one is judging on here. One of the wonderful things about this thread is that while we do have a common goal we are all very different, unique people, and that is going to mean that we don't always see everything the same way or agree on everything - it doesn't mean we have to judge each other badly for that or that we can't support each other anything. I really do see people on this thread as virtual friendsso hope you stay with us x
Findingmyway - your trip sounds fantasticI would love to visit the Far East, my brother went to Thailand a few years ago and was very jealous. It's on my list but best get the savings pot out
LL - have to agree, have become rather fuzzy/fluffy/fudgey (mmm, fudge...) lately and must get myself in gear. Finances are definately a big one for me as well.
The failure one is interesting - I do agree in a way that we do learn from our mistakes. Perhaps a better way to look at it is that everything we do and that happens to us makes us who we are, and therefore must happen for a reason (even if it really doesn't seem like it sometimes!).
Am perhaps babbling a little, am rather tired today, had late choir last night - didn't get home until nearly 11 and then OH was in a good mood and wanting to chat about his day and that - which was nice, but it meant I would have felt a little mean saying I was going to bed so ended up sitting up a bit with him. Was nice to catch up anyway, think definately quiet night for me tonight though.0 -
Ooh, nearly forgot - good luck with the interview Willow! Am sure you will do great0

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
