I put in weight :( how embarrassing to gain weight in my first week of SW. Totally mortified and more importantly angry with myself for not taking it seriously. I'm unhappy with my weight but seem to have no self control at all.

    Eclectic

I have a very eclectic life and that is what keeps me calm and happy. My home is a mix of styles that all work for me and my hobbies are wide and varied. Keeping a mix of things in your life can help prevent you getting bored :D

    Eyeshadow

Go by a beauty counter and have a look at the different types and colours of eye shadows. Often we get stuck in a rut with the same textures and colours and a beauty advisor could be able to find you something new and even more flattering.

    Eating healthily

This is something I am trying and failing to do. Even if you just eat one extra piece of fruit a day or chuck an extra handful of veg in with dinner every little bit counts ;) and no chocolate does not count as a dairy product! Adelight has a great blog with healthy recipes and ideas!

    E is for.... ENJOY.
I refuse to calorie-count, or eat low-fat, or go to the gym, because I know these things would make me thoroughly miserable.

I'll go for smaller portions of food Mr LW and I like, and doing what I can manage on the WiiFit in the privacy of my own home, as these are far more enjoyable to me. I rigged up the external disk-drive to the netbook and bunged "Madagascar 2" on for a bit of interest while I did my WiiFit stuff today.:D

Fabbing shouldn't be a penance, after all!;)

I agree with Tete - E is for Exercise = Energy my absolute favourite way of feeling for me!

Also Eating healthily which has helped me reach my goals in a way I never expected at all

And - Eyeshadow and Eyeliner which illuminate my eyes and give me a totallly different look when I want to look different to the daily look

And finally, fabwise today - tried very hard to stick to kcal allowance and went over by 200kcals today, went for a run after work for 40mins and have done the usual skincare routine and oils applied and lots of moisturiser to my skin. Now feeling much fabbier! Also got called a few nice unexpected compliments today - looking tiny at the work Christmas do, looking nice in my bright orange tunic top and tiny legs when we were debating about how taking measurements can help to keep you on track when the weight doesn't come off as quick as you'd like. All round a bright and cheery day in a bright orange top!

Amen to that. Quite simply, fat tastes good!! A tiny bit of the full fat real deal is so much more satisfying than piles of the low-fat alternative.

When I said eating healthily I meant just that, not dieting, counting calories or being deprived just eating well 80% of the time and treating yourself to what you fancy 20% of the time.

I refuse to eat low fat foods laced with sweetners, they are foul :(

  • Hi All
I with you all on the no-diet thing. It just messes with my head. The last time I tried ww I lsted on whole week and ended up binging. I also will not diet but do want to eat healthy. Same goes for the gym, I would rather be outside. Had a great afternoon today having an walk with my 3 year old niece in the forest park and playing hide and seek with her and her mum - now that's what I call fabbing. We also unashamedly sang songs from Annie and played on the flying fox!!

I did a bit of snooping into the Bodyism products as I was quite interested in it. I researched the ingredients and found some much cheaper equivalents that may be helpful.

The Ultimate Clean Probiotic Fibre is basically just psyllium husks which can be bought for much, much less at around £5/250g. http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/whole_psyllium_husks

Body Brilliance powder is mostly microfiltered whey protein concentrate with small amounts of whey protein isolate and a green supplement powder. Plus lots of thickeners/flavourings which make up a lot of the carbs, I suspect it needs a lot of these to hide the greens taste. A good, if not better, protein powder can be bought for much cheaper from almost anywhere. A protein blend also containg caesin or egg proteins could be good as caesin is digested much slower than whey and egg protein has a brilliant amino acid profile. You could buy a really high quality plain protein powder and flavour it with cacao, powdered berries or even... syrup :D
They can't physically have fitted much green powder into their supplements. Even assuming the non-whey concentrate 20% of body brilliance is green powder, that's still only 5g in each of their serving sizes.
I didn't look into BodySerenity, but looks like a glass of chocolate milk plus a bed-time supplement? I need a de-stress drink too.

http://www.myprotein.com/UK/products/total_protein is a good protein blend with a little added fibre ~35p for a half serving(their servings are shrek sized) containing 23g protein. You could buy several different types of protein powder and create your own blend in a small tub for everyday use. They do WPC80, whey isolate, caesin, egg, pea and organic hemp(for any vegans) and even goat whey! Definitely the best and cheapest protein supplier available in the UK. They also do green tea extract and anything your inner gym bunny could desire :D
http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/superveg_xs is a green/vegetable powder similar to that in bodyism ~30p per 8g serving.
or http://www.myprotein.com/UK/products/superfood_xs superfood powder, ~30p per 5g serving. or wheatgrass, spirulina, a serving of any of those would be a good addition to the protein powder.
So that's 65p a serving for a huge helping of anti-oxidants and 24g of mixed release high quality protein vs £3 a serving for Body Brilliance which has 14g protein and less green/anti-oxidant powder.

i've got thisComplete Fiber Cleanse stuff (http://www.victoriahealth.com/product/Complete-Fiber-Cleanse/8654/0/) that says it " contains insoluble fibres such as psyllium husk fibre as well as acidophilus and other herbs to soothe the gut walls. Also included are green foods to alkalise the gut, nourish the body as well as aid in the detoxification process." also "Complete Fiber Cleanse also contains soluble fibres such as mucilages which aid in the elimination of fats from the body including cholesterol and may aid in the regulation of sugar metabolism by the body." i noticed a difference when i started taking it. i just did it once a day and its lasted ages. i know its not a protein supplement as such but it did do something. i felt better when i took it and everything felt much more smooth. skin improved too.

ingredients: Psyllium Seed Husks, Pro-Biotic Blend, Fos, Marshmallow Root, Slippery Elm Bark, Echinacea Root, Shepherd Purse, Wild Yam Root, Kelp Powder, Barley Grass, Spirulina, Chlorella, Wheat Grass, Plum Papain, NAC, Grape Seed Extract, maltodextrin, natural orange flavour, citric acid and silica

from the sound of the ingredients it sounds similar to the bodyism stuff but at only £17.95 (plus 10% off if you go through the beauty bible site) for 168 grams its much more reasonable.

i did when i first went back in november. coincided with me being stuck in all week because we couldn't afford to go out and do anything and all we could afford was cheap booze and cheap ready meals. not the best combination! i also kidded myself that i could "cheat" and stuff was probably a HE and when it said 28g it surely meant 35/40g couldn't do much harm. pretty much every night was a flexible syn day too.

i remember years ago when i did my first SW stint my ex bfs mum was on WW and i went to their house for the weekend. when we had tea i was piling my plate and saying "oooh i can have this! this is free! this is my HE!" while she was there with like one rice cake and some lettuce. i felt SO bad. before we sat down it was kind of a "were both in this diet thing together!" moment but i felt so bad when she was eating nothing while i was shovelling it down.

Oooh I really like the look of Superfood & Superveg, but both are out of stock :( Thanks for the links though adelight, I'll be keeping an eye on these!

Once I'm finished with my (not MSE at all) Bodyism products I will switch to this protein + superfood + superveg mix.

What's the best out of PC80, whey isolate, caesin, goat whey, etc that you mentioned? Their product range is massive!
Edit: ok they actually appear to have a different powder for everything... where do I start?

podperson - laugh away it is kinda funny. Was just annoyed at the time as it's a new dress and first time on!
Mind you, I did once manage to sneeze so hard I cracked a rib.

I've decided that we're going to have to spend some of the wedding money on heating - I can't last another month with a cold and a freezing house, and so far my hands are so cold they're painful due to it. We'll just have to cut back somewhere - we're playing with numbers last night and think we can manage to cut back rightly if I DIY even more so that's not so bad.
