Im still reading but not posting.
My Fab routines from the previous solstice have stuck which is good as Im not in a good place atm. I am back to wearing yoga pants but not joggers and my DD commented that they were quite trendy.

Adelight - I have an Iphone which I love.

    Hugs x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I put in weight :( how embarrassing to gain weight in my first week of SW. Totally mortified and more importantly angry with myself for not taking it seriously. I'm unhappy with my weight but seem to have no self control at all.

Don't beat yourself up you will get there - I lost 1 1/2lbs first week, gained it back the next and now this week lost it again, I know I have not been good on healthy eating, been tired past couple of weeks so snacking rather than eating. Hubby said why waste money going if not going to change, but I want to change and I know if I keep going eventually I will. Its hard but I am determined to change the bad habits I have got into since I became ill as I am stuck with it for rest of life and don't want to get any fatter so I know I might yo yo with this one pound for months before I really get to grips with it, but I will not give up.

You are doing exercise as well so you might be already adding muscle, which weighs more.

You will do it, in a way not getting it right straight away is good, it makes you concentrate more rather than losing easily and then gaining it back which is what so many do once they reach their goal, when its harder to lose you really do change your eating and so are more likely to keep it off.

So last week is over and next week a new WI to aim for and you will have a loss then, am sure of it.

I have also thrown in trying to give up smoking, I bought one of those electronic cigarettes and so far today have smoked one real one, other times am sucking like a baby on her dummy on the electronic one.

I admit past two days no make up, had hospital appointments and just had enough energy to shower and dress to go, although did wear earrings, hair was nice and perfume and nice clothes. Face thankfully is clear again thanks to the Hydrocortisone cream so I can stop using it now, so that is a plus smooth, clear skin looks ok even without make up.

We were supposed to go to see Warhorse tonight but tonight its my turn to be to tired, was at hospital for 3 hrs then went to stop smoking clinic to get some inhalator's as back up and as I had not had a cigarette all day my reading was 0, so although gave in and just had one, it will help seeing that to keep me off them most of the time. Just to tired at moment to fight the urge. Then popped into SW to get weighed but didn't stay and didn't have book with for them to write it in so have to do that next week. So after all that just so tired and so fingers crossed will go to cinema tomorrow ( Thursday when we should have gone hubby was to tired and he also is tired all that sitting around waiting for me).

So tomorrow will rest all day and then slowly get ready with make up and go tomorrow night. I should have gone for my mammogram tomorrow but have changed the appointment for another week.

Might not seem much but to someone who spends about 80% of the day in bed for me its been a very long day and exhausting.

Methinks time for sleep - everyone you are just so inspiring will try and do better tomorrow

    Hugs

Prepareathome - go and have a rest! Sounds like hard work to me!

Haven't been around since the weekend - just work and life getting in the way but I have kept up the basics.
BUT, I have slipped back into scoffing a few unneeded snacks - the odd biscuit here and there - must knock that on the head ASAP. I've been eating lots of F&V and taking my vits (grow hair grow!) but have had the extras too:(

There's 7 days left in January so my mini aim is to stop snacking, walk further and faster with the dog and to do something about my little patches of psorisis on my torso (luckily they're all hidden when dressed but make me feel yukky about myself).

Just watching Fat Fighters on C4 and for once its actually talking somne sense about diet and fitness - today's focus is on thighs and cellulite, worth a watch on repeat or the internet if that's your "problem" area.
One interesting fact - swimming for 30 mins at a brisk pace burns 300 cals in women - doesn't seem too bad to me for the cals used.

Thanks for the E's - some good ones!
Trying desperately to think of one too!

Molly - Come back soon, we miss you. :A

Bratz - Ouch at cracking a rib through sneezing. Pleased you have been able to find the money for heating. It is much nicer to be able to choose to have heating on or off, rather than be forced to do without.

Podperson - I used to play World of Warcraft as well with my OH. However we had a massive guild fall out and it put me off playing again! I now realise how much time used to be spent on it, whole weekends would disappear and all I had done was play on that! I stick to single player games that have an ending now, at least when the game is completed I can go and find something else to do.

the_cat - Have you tried exercising in the evening instead?

Lizzie - If you are feeling more positive after the counselling sessions, that's good. Has the counsellor gone through some self help techniques for after the sessions end? Yesterday I found it helpful to talk to someone who doesn't know me, made it easier to be honest about my situation (I would usually hold something back from a family member if I don't want them to worry!)

Can someone explain to me why you use these protein powders please? Sorry if I'm being slow here, but I thought it was quite easy to get enough protein in food form.

Thank you to everyone who has given advice on the different types of tea. I know my sister drinks green tea, so I will ask if I can have a few teabags from her to experiment with. I will see if I can get some redbush tea next time I go shopping, and I will research further into the white tea as had never heard of that before!

Twinings green tea is actually quite nice if you don't dunk the bag for too long. I tried it again tonight after hating the first time but that was coz I left the bag in for ages... I had mine with 2 and a bit spoonfuls of sweetener and it was really yummy. :)

Got my interview top sorted today! I got this and a top that looks like this but purple instead of white and orange at the top coz it was in the sale at £5. :D

Thank you so much for your post.

Last night I was so upset and angry with myself so today I have made a real effort to follow the rules. I have eaten like a horse but kept everything within the SW plan. I CAN DO THIS!

Well done on cutting down your smoking habit :j

    Good Evening Ladies

Some great "E's there. Thanks for those.

    Re the Exhaustion

Tonight I'm on my knees, spent 6 hours at the hospital looking after OH whilst he had the first of his intravenous steroid treatments. So Prepared I understand just how you feel tonight - after your hospital visit today - do make sure you have plenty of rest.

Tonight I've wasted a couple of hours just lolling on the sofa, dozing my way though some junk TV. Just too tired to do anything else I'm afraid. OH and I have another two days ahead of us yet, so really need to pace myself.

Hopefully tomorrow and Thursday won't be quite so gruelling. Today OH had to be assessed first but for the next two treatments it should just be a case of getting in there and getting wired and tubed up. Poor darling was as white as a sheet when we left.

During the treatment he was freezing, so I covered him with his rug and coat and then asked the nurse for more blankets. Don't get me wrong, she was more than happy to oblige - it just gets to me that they never even thought to ask.

I know I've said this before - my OH has me to fight his corner for him - he was in no fit state to ask for himself. What about those who don't have anyone.

Today OH was pathetically grateful that I was there - he kept thanking me over and over again for being with him. As if I would make him go through that alone. It was noticeable that in a ward full of people OH was the only person to have someone with him.

One of the nurses was shocked that I had arranged my own transport, paying for taxis. Why didn't you use hospital transport she asked.

I told her a taxi went from door to door, and that OH would be warmer, more comfortable and find the journey less tiring and stressful.
(Hospital transport always takes several people at once, they wait hours to be picked up and then have to go all round the houses dropping everyone off).

She was a bit huffy and said "Well yes I suppose I would use a taxi but I cant afford it". I just smiled and said "I can't afford it either". Not strictly true - whilst it's true I'm not overly flush at the moment, I wouldn't dream of making OH suffer the rigours of hospital transport. I just make a point of organising my finances to find the money for such things so that I can make things as easy as possible for him.

It is going to cost around £80 for taxis for the three days, frankly I don't care - it's money well spent. I think it's worth budgeting to find the money for things like that.

So yes, back to the exhaustion. I do think we all have less energy in winter.

I know this sounds daft but I genuinely believe that humans haven't evolved and adapted quickly enough to cope with the 24 hour society.

It's only just over the last hundred years or so that electricity has illuminated the dark winter days and long winter nights allowing us all to extend our days. In evolutionary terms a hundred years is just the blink of an eye. Prior to that, when all we had was candles and firelight, people probably slept a lot more during the winter months than we do now. I've read several times about how badly sleep deprived people are these days.

Just like plants I think we all get quite a bit of our energy from natural sunlight. When OH and I used to spend a chunk of our winters in Spain, where because of the time difference it didn't get dark until two hours later than the UK, I always felt so much better and more energetic.

Roll on Spring. It's just round the corner now .....

    Speaking of budgeting.

Bratz - I'm so glad you've raided your wedding fund to get some heating sorted. You shouldn't live in a cold unheated house for months on end, it will do you more harm than good. If your house gets damp and mouldy you risk damaging your health, plus it might cost you more money to get rid of any damp problems.

Like Pod has said you've got time to put the money back into the fund. Why not have a look at the Up Your Income Thread and join in some of the challenges there. People have posted up lots of ideas for making little bits of extra money. Car boots and ebay for all that decluttering;), scaling back on the housekeeping for a few weeks etc.

Lizzie - glad to hear that you are feeling a little brighter. Do post here - we are happy to "listen" to you any time. In fact please feel free to PM me if you wish. I'm no therapist but I do know what it feels like when you want to "Talk" and yet you feel you can't burden other people just so that you can get things off your chest.

Just a thought, are there any support groups or anything like that in your area that you could pop along too. Perhaps your counsellor could point you in the right direction, or maybe your GP could suggest one.

Molly - Glad eveything is ok. Don't worry about not having much to say - just drop in and say hello from time to time. Easy does it - all it takes is time and patience - you'll get there.

Anyway electric light or not, I'm done for - time for bed.

    G'night all

    PS - found my tweezers.:D

podperson - yes I think it is repairable so not all bad

LL - yes, I know the no heating isn't helping me, we just couldn't see where to get the money from. Our wedding budget is tiny already and super stretched, plus bills have all gone up so it was a bit of a debate on where we could take money from. But sorted now so it's on the up.
Off to order the oil now as a matter of fact!
