Hello Ladies, Lurkers and Any Curious Newbies

Once again the title says it all - six months to transform ourselves.

A journey from to Frump to Fab - Frugal Style.

So ................

Do you want to be a Summer Sizzler.

Are you currently more Beach Bum than Beach Babe.

Fed up with looking like a Bag Lady.

Okay - fear not - join us on the SSS (Summer Solstice Sizzler) Express and enjoy the ride.

Sign up for Fab School and learn how just a few simple tweaks and changes to our daily lives can help transform us. Forget stringent diets, silly detoxes and punishing regimes. That is so not our style. :rotfl:

Just commit to a little bit of effort and a whole lot of TLC. In no time at all you too will be able to graduate with honours and join Maman & Fedupandskint (aka) Sparkles in the Fab Hall of Fame.

So tomorrow we'll get started.

In the meantime I will leave you with these pearls of wisdom:rotfl:

This is a little game that I play sometimes when I'm faced with a difficult situation. It was taught to me by an ex boss. Yes, the same one who taught me "The Elephant".

(Newbies I will explain the elephant another time).

Anyway the game is called "Worst Case Scenario" and it goes like this.

When faced with something difficult, seemingly impossible or just plain horrible you ask yourself what is the likely outcome. What is the worst case scenario, could you deal with it and how would you handle it.

This helps to prepare you for the worst and helps you to work out a plan of action. Then you ask yourself - how likely is it that the Worst Case Scenario is likely to happen. Usually the chances are far lower than you might imagine. However, because you have mentally prepared for the worst what does eventually transpire is usually far less than feared and therefore much easier to handle.

So to those of you who might be hesitating about whether or not you should take part in our challenge ask yourself "What's the worst than can happen".

Answer - you fail.

Is it the end of the world as we know it. No. You just pick yourself up and start again. However many times it takes;)

So until tomorrow.

For those who can't wait until tomorrow and want to start right here, right now......

Step 1 - From now on wear perfume - every day

So Ladies - In the immortal words of Bitsy

Let's make 2012 the year we kick @ss

  • YAY!:j Shiny New Thread!

Happy Solstice to all of you lovely ladies and lurkers!

LL just had a quick catch up on old thread- glad to hear that meeting went well- and that you have proof that the frump to fab process works!:D

Decided to wear a favourite dress of mine today- a sort of seventies inspired one, high waist, bell sleeves and fab pattern, dark purple and teal- I've worn in before but today got lots of compliments on it:cool:

and because I'm greedy I'm having TWO solstice outfits:D am heading out tonight for some christmas cocktails at a friend's house, I will be wearing a teal woollen dress (today is obviously a teal day:cool:) opaque tights and black boots, following on from discussions earlier about wearing your "nice" things rather than saving them I am going to wear the beautiful earings DH bought me last year- they are black swarvoski crystal and gold drop earrings and are beautiful...they actually match my mangal sutra (wedding necklace) perfectly- turning something i wear everyday into something special...well the necklace is special anyway but you know what I mean!

little time for fabbing today but plan on having one full pamper day over the week off at least- feel like I need it!

Ooooh and my team director has suggested that as things are always so crazy for us this time of year, we should have a treat evening in Feb....so we'll be fabbing it up at Nirvana Spa:j am excited have never been to a spa before....

anyway ladies hope you are all having a wonderful solstice!

Ooooh I am immortal. Or maybe just infamous ;) :rotfl:

Lovely lovely shiny new thread, don't ya just love 'em :D

I confess I didn't wear a super special solstice outfit :o I've had kids all day to entertain and crawling in the floor playing horsey isn't what I want to do in a nice outfit. However I am going to make more effort for Christmas day.

I am going to celebrate my last day of working with a very large glass of something alcoholic  from now on it's all about being glamourous on a miniscule budget as my income takes a drop. Here's to a frugal but ultimately more happier 2012 at Chez Bitsy :D

Oooh shiny new thread :j:j Hi everyone and welcome to any newbies

Must also confess that I forgot to wear a special solstice outfit - was late to bed last night, had a few drinks to celebrate my last day of work before xmas and then was dashing this morning to try and get my xmassy stuff all finished. Still have bought a lovely new bracelet from a Christmas fair - is a cuff style in like an antique gold mesh with a jewelled butterfly in the middle, really pretty so will wear it over xmas. Also got some cute knee high socks with Scotty dogs on them and a scarf in deep pinks shades. Was classing it as spending my xmas money from MIL and gran but OH is going to give me some money for them then he doesn't have to buy me much for xmas :rotfl:the crazy man always does all his shopping on xmas eve - it would drive me nuts, I was getting stressed enough with the crowds today! Means I can save my other xmas money to buy things in the sales with though :)

Not much fabbing today but did have a massage last night to destress me for xmas and will try and fit some pampering in tonight - just realised forgot to buy more nail polish remover though so can't do my nails.

Hope everyone's having a good day and enjoying the shiny new thread :)

Good evening ladies and lurkers! Welcome aboard to the Summer Solstice Sizzler thread! Woah! Can't wait to graduate as a summer sizzler! And oh boy, I will!

Well just as a goodbye to the winter solstice I wore my winter solstice outfit today - my red rose floral faux wrap dress, a hematite necklace, shambala braclet and matching sparkly silver crystal earrings. Looked ok, not too sparkly or sizzling and think I need a pink shrug to cheer the outfit up a bit and some black mid height heels. I'm glad I did it though and looking forward to the summer solstice outfit - plenty of time to sort that one out - a whole 6mths!

As the winter thread was such a happy helpful place for me I'm delighted to sign back up for the summer thread and aim to graduate at a maintainance weight, with my hair nicely trimmed regularly, my nails looking neat and tidy and with some regular nail varnish on..........oh yes and maybe, if I feel brave enough.......and sort out a training plan......will have run a half marathon by then. I'm thinking about signing up for one to keep me going some more with the running. Not sure yet if I will, thinking hard about it though.

Over the next 6mths I would like to lose a few more pounds, maybe run a half marathon, climb some new high hills and go on more regular weekend walks. Meaning by the summer I would have dropped almost 2st in a year (hardly the speed of light but hey it all counts!), got a lot fitter, built exercise in as a regular no problem thing to do and enjoy

Having said all that, no fabbing today with a ready meal curry for my tea and quite a bit of chocolate and a donought today - way way over today but hey never mind. Back on track again tomorrow

    Aaannnnd we're off :j:j
Remember ladies it's a marathon not a sprint! It has taken some of us a long time to get frumpy ;) So don't expect overnight results to fabdom, but it will come :j

    Welcome Boultdj

Ooo Willow, like your style

LL, pleased to hear your meeting went well :)

Enjoy your cocktails Mrs W, your outfits sound lovely, love teal.

I have had a good day. Just OCM'd and going to have an early night.
I am going out with friends tomorrow then going into a neighbouring city to see the christmas lights.

    Goodnight

    I'm in....so excited :j:j:j
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
