You had half an hour with your kids at this time of year, and you took them
    to Mcdonalds? seriously?

Its not food poisoning, and its not 'off' food, as that gives an immediate reaction
to purge the body of the offending things, diarrhea straight after eating? no chance.
im shocked that somebody of your age would think the food could be at fault to give
    you this kind of reaction.

It sounds more likely you had an allergic reaction to something in the food, and
as it happens whenever you go this is more likely the case. or it could just be that
your body isn't used to the fat content, as you say you usually eat healthy..

I'm sorry but I don't like your post, do you even know me, my situation? I wish people weren't so quick to judge, a great shame really. I had my wife breathing down my neck and making the time I did have with my children very stressful because she was shadowing us and keeping tabs on me the whole time. She only agreed to me getting to see my children on this condition and my mum had no choice but to reluctantly agree for my sake. She glared in my direction constantly and I knew that just one wrong move or the wrong thing said would mean I wouldn't have anymore time with those two beautiful children that I love so much. On top of that, I've a million other things to worry about and just seeing my kids today has put the biggest smile on my face you'd ever imagine but it is people like you who can destroy even the smallest bit of hope people like me get. Please don't post of if you have nothing helpful or kind to say. Thank you.

It does sound like a stress reaction rather than food poisoning. I often go to Mc D's with others and don't have anything other than a drink of tea or coffee. It's actually one food outlet where you don't feel obliged to buy food. Food poisoning doesn't come on so quickly, though it could be something that you ate earlier I guess. It sounds like you are having a difficult time, so I wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

edit: I read some of your other posts about your health issues and would recommend these books which are great for anyone feeling anxious or down:

Claire Weekes - Self Help for Your Nerves. This book should be given away free by the NHS.
Richard Carlson - Stop Thinking, Start Living
Richard Leahy - The Worry Cure
David Burns - Feeling Good: New Mood Therapy

If your kids want to go to McDs then no-one here should judge. But it sounds to me like you have some sort of food intolerance and if I were you, I'd get the kids their meals and just have a coffee. (but then I'm a vegetarian and have been for 24 years :rotfl:)

Hi, it doesn't matter when/where I eat McDonald's, I always have diarrhoea even just a few hours later or horrible stomach pains/cramps that won't go away. I know that my problems couldn't have been from anything else I've ate because I eat very healthily and that's the only take-out food I've had in a very long time, only had it to please my kids. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who has this problems as others I've spoken to say they have problems with McDonald's too. I was interested to hear about the intolerance. The funny thing is, I felt like death at the time but after "dealing with my toiletry needs", I felt absolutely fine and the sore stomach/pains etc disappeared just like that.

Maybe it's more an intolerance than an allergic reaction. I'm intolerant to MSG, it gives me stomach cramps, it happens quite soon after I have eaten. I know it's not psychosomatic because it took me ages to figure out what it was as it happenned with different food.

Or it could be that you're not used to that type of food. I still remember a few years ago my mum had a KFC because she was with my brother and his family and that's where they went. She felt really ill afterwards as she never eats that sort of food.

If it was n intolerance it would affect you for longer than that time - gluten and lactose intolerant and if i have either, do i know about it!
It is probably a reaction to the stress you're under cos of you and your (ex?) wife's not-so-amicable break-up....

unlikely if it happens every time he eats in McDonalds, unless he caught her being scuttled over the McFlurry machine and it brings back bad memories.

The symptoms he described are almost identical to somebody I was unfortunate know about 15 years ago. He was a right boring idiot who tried to make out he was successful, when he was just a clown. He was allergic to tea and after an hour of him annoying me (at work), I made everybody a drink and stirred his coffee with the tea spoon... he was doubled up for a while almost instantly.

I'd say you had a panic attack.

Not the food at fault at all, just you were incredibly anxious, worried about everything else, (probably gulping, overbreathing and swallowing air) and trying to eat on top of that just triggered it.

  • Its really nice to read of someone saying how much they enjoyed spending time with their children and I am sure they enjoyed their time with you, hopefully there were three smiley faces that day! And if they wanted to go to McDonalds then thats fine and people shouldn't judge that - I'm assuming it was a town center you were in where the alternative would have been to wander around shops for half an hour - at least you made the effort to sit with them and spend real time with them xx
