    Hi Nicky

there is a thread about Cat pee (sorry the title really made me laugh). :rotfl:

As this has fallen off the front page, I'll add this one to the existing thread and you can check the other suggestions

If all else fails you can get a deodoriser from your vets that you water down and spray onto the patch and this will kill off the smell altogether. You do sometimes have to do it a few times.

  • I realise this is probably a hopeless cause as its very hard to remove cat wee from things you can wash and even then the cat can still smell it and will prob do it again.... I have a large beanbag which was hand made by my grandma and the cat has piddled on it. :( Its too big to go in a washing machine, even at the launderette so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about how I can at least stop it smelling of wee to the human nose so we can use it again? I have tried those cat sprays but it was next to useless. Also sprayed it with Oust and Vanish which again were useless...

It all seems very hopeless but maybe one of you clever people can help!

Cut a wee hole in the seam - empty out & dispose of all the polystyrene 'beans'.

    Wash in machine.

Buy new 'beans' (they're not too expensive)

Refill & sew seam back up.

  • Can you remove the beans? That way it might fit into the machine.

I'm not sure that you'll be able to remove the smell by concealing it; somehow it will need to be washed away.

I'd do as suggested above and ditch the beans and wash the outer and then refill it.Then if the cat is a male I'd seriously consider having it spayed cos it will do it again

  • can you try washing it by hand in the bath?

Be ready to have the polystyrene balls fly all over the room.:o The first time I emptied our bean bag, I tried emptying the beans into a large plastic bag..................but found that the static from the beans and plastic bag sent the beans into over-drive!

So...............my suggestion is to empty the beans into an old pillowcase and dispose of them.

Wash the bean bag cover using Ariel biological washing powder and buy new beans to fill the bag when it's clean and dry.

Then, as has been suggested.............make sure the cat is neutered.:D

  • Thanks everyone, the cat is neutered he is just a pain and wees on everything.... I've had all sorts on the insurance in the past because of it but a new cat is something they wont do! I will try and find a day when I can face the mammouth task of removing the beans!!

Ariel bio sounds like a good plan I have only tried non-bio on other things before, stupidly...
