Pets at home do a good urine neutraliser - quite expensive but well worth it - but I woul try Bicarb in warm water first

Thanks BB. Is the Pets at Home one for cleaning machines or a good old elbow grease one?

  • It is a spot cleaner - so Spray on leave for 10 to 15 mins then use the machine afterwards
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I'd first wash with biological washing powder to get the smell out. My furbabes occassionally have accidents inside and this usually gets the smell out.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • I wouldn't bother hiring, I'd buy one of these http://www.bisselldirect.co.uk/product/1123 and then you can put whatever you like in it. We use Stardrops in ours and have spot spray for the very very odd times that the puppy now pees in the house. There is no reason why you can't put bicarb or bio washing power mix in the Bissell

We're really pleased with ours, we've had it 18 months and we have an ongoing building project and a puppy plus you get to keep it so it's easy to pull out and do a little section of carpet now and again.

Thanks everybody. I think I'll have a go with the washing powder and get one of those bissells. £50 sounds well worth it - I don't think we'll get rid of the ginger menace from across the road easily!

  • Don't use disinfectant - some cats are drawn to it and pee more! Maybe because people use it to clean cat litters.

I have to agree with biological wqashing powder/liquid and lots of towels to stand on to dry the area afterwards ( use old newspapers to mop up as much as you can before cleaning).

For small patches we use 1001 spray cleaner.

Up until the other week we have six cats (sadly now 5) and the very elderly oldest had cancer which caused diarrhoea. :(
    Put the kettle on. ;)

Alison, sorry to hear you've lost a cat - it's heartbreaking, I know.

I'm going to try the washing powder tomorrow, and I'll report back.
