Does anyone know for a fact how far or how long is considered to be reasonable to travel to your work provider. G4S.

It takes me nearly 2 hours to reach them due to my living in a small village with hardly any public transport.

Sometimes when i get there i am sent back home after only arriving due to computer failures or staff sickness.
If you are sent home for ANY reason lodge a formal complaint and say they have taken up your valuable job seeking time.

Tell them its not professional to operate that way.

On the time to travel I think there is no time limit. Mine took just over 2 hours there and back and I am not in a village!! Add that to the time it takes to get ready and the 1 hour job search there it was over half a day wasted for a 30 min job search (as the PCs are so slow).

In my Job Centre the whole post Work Programme harrassment seems to be running out of steam

I signed on today having not been on my UJM account for over a week because of PC problems and nothing was said

I am attending a 6 week job search support programme and had the induction today and they basically told me "come in when you like as long as it's once a week for the next 6 weeks - any policing is done by the Job Centre it's not our remit"

I don't want to speak too son but it slowly seems to be going back to claimants ticking boxes and turning up and the staff typing that into the system to maintain the status quo

How comes you are doing this when I am not? This is a made up thing as per office I believe as no one is doing the same thing at all.

an outside provider that is on your side? thats rare. the kind i have often faced have said things like, you have to do this coz the jobcentre says so and we cant do anything about it. this is said when making excuses about how they treat you. i remember when i did new deal people would ask if they could get out a bit early. they would face the response already mentioned. then on a friday when they had paper work they would suddenly be able to let you go home at lunchtime.

There are a lot of good reasonable people, but you need to watch it & cover yourself.

yes for sure! I am happy to play the game when it's reasonable like this - once a week for 2 hours is not going to kill anyone

my advisor told me the alternative was a 4 week slave labour deal working full time for the dole check:eek:

but for the time being there are not enough jobs for the amount of claimants they are sending (??) so he gives it to people who have a bad attitude or who don't sign on time etc.

He told me straight out he's sending me to do this once a week thing because he said they were telling him at Training Associates that I had been very pleasant the whole three weeks of the course I did there in August

if people are nice I'm nice back but in reality I'm just playing the game because there is no choice

So your idea is to penalise people for needing benefits?
